nice post there! really thought of and not taken any side in favour
i tried rfactor 3-4 times and was willing to like it, but....
and yes, sound is better in some way and bunch of tracks and cars is definitely huge great bonus.
dunno about online racing rfactor but already in lfs with few tracks and cars, there can be problem to race someone in quite a few tracks or cars (not to mention certain combo....)

yeah, firstly I adjust camber to maximise contact patch, allthough all other sets have a bit tilted camber, and i didnt soften pressures too much to prevent sloppy handling....didnt much altered pressures from TC setups, hm that could improve things a bit.

I'm practising smooth(still not quite there) acceleration on strip, to hopefully kill any wheelspininig habit...
bf1 no TC tyres headache....

so, lately i'm trying to get grips with bf1, and to make things more interesting
no tc at all. hard to start but in the end i think its better this way...only that tyres, rears especially, burn within few laps. now, i don't wheelspin all the time out of slow corners, but some of it i could still lose, though. and tyres are shot in 3-4 laps. problem is that afaik few sets i tried, all were for tc.
so, to keep tyres alive for 20ish laps, is there any setup secret, or just not to wheelspin at all? which is qoite difficult, but i'm optimistic

Quote from gezmoor :Sounds like the usual excuse to me. I'm betting the person that said that will behave in exactly the same way on tarmac. Far too many people with this attitude in LFS unfortunately. They seem to think that being fast gives them a god given right to pass you and win. They're usually the ones that say "its just a game" too. I sometimes wonder if any of these people have ever watched racing on TV let alone actually ever driven a car.

Oh and yes, there is a lot more to racing than just driving fast. Look at how many guys in F1, (and other motorsports), are capable of setting fast times in qualifying. Then when it comes to the race and being conistant etc they drop right down the field.

Edited to add - The sport their talking about is stock car racing NOT rally. The only motorsport where contact is allowed is stock car racing. All other forms of motorsport are strictly non contact. Although of course the occasional mild bump does occur but it's not condoned in any way.

You're rigtht to the bone

ah, yes, now I see that my reply looks rather serious.....
and I see new title

wrong title, man!
games that those people used to test were itself "aggressive" and awarding for reckless and dangerous driving.
LFS is totally different, of course, and shouldn't be associated with those games at all. wrong title......

Have u ever wandered "boy, am i great in lfs! i'll try it in real life on gravel with my car...." then u try it and find out u suck in real life....
Then u turn all 900 of them on, and get used to them......an then try trashing real car on empty gravel road)))))))))))))

well, although people with less degrees can drive "better" then with more degrees, there is a catch, of course. I figured it out while trying to master 900 on my example (but other people do it too).
When driving with less degrees (below 360), during one corner people tend to steer rapidly from lock to lock which is impossible to do effectively with 900 (&of course not realistic). During lock to lock transitions tyres wear off quicker, too.
When steering with 900 you are forced for more precise steering, and when you master that precise steering, even in racing you wont use more than 300 degrees. exceptions are slides which become rare in that way of driving. and even when they occur, they can be cured fast and effectively with smart handwork (just copy moves from hands ingame

I do!!!

well, realistic would be around 180 degrees - as that is field of view which healthy humans "see". So that's that.
But on screen it looks ridiculous, of course.
Real fow would be from your head to screen (if screen is 19' and you're aabout half metre away) about 35-40deg (don't take it for granted) but, and it's big BUT - feeling of speed would be almost nothing and it would feel ur driving a tank.
I set it about 105-110, to feel speed more, see more and to have not much distortion....

LONG LIVE RWD RACING!!!!
says it all, doesn't it? yes, FXO is faster, there is TBO league at CROTeam, and alomst everybody is on FXO. But, FWD isn't for wussies, because although it's boring IMHO, u shold drive wheels of it to be really faaaaast......

and yes, I think that discussion about rF "reality" in LFS afficionados forum is not very thankful IMO....
well i tried rF (few times occasinally, to give it a chance), and didn't "feeeeeel" it, you know, it IS good, but LFS is better.
See, told you, we're biased

Quote from Dac :why dont you try it in your car? tbh i think its very realistic. the only thing that i feel is a problem is the shear lack of speed sensation in games. meaning when your in a car it feels much faster, not sure if its because of the real danger though.

well, it looks slow because of FOV. While you drive real car your eyes see 180 degrees, and ingame you see 90. You can set it to about 105-110 (without distorting picture too much) and get better speed sensation.
If you set camera to see car from behind, and set FOV even more, speed sensation is even more visible, but cars around edges of screen are a lot distorted.
I shoot with camera from passenger seat at 150 kph and zoomed it to match approximately FOV 100 (reference point was to see through camera parts of car i see in game, therefore FOV was right) and afterwards it looks so slow you could run with car.....
So that's why it looks slow - cos it's realistic with unrealistic (unnatural) FOV. solution would be circular screen
