Well, that is immersion breaking, but with the heavy focus on înterpersonal relationships, and thus being with some sort of AI companion for most of the game, it's either having them be invisible as long as you're not spotted, with said problems for immersion, OR, and that would be worse, the stupid AI would always get spotted and attacked.
So I rather have companions who are unnoticable over AI that always botches up my stealth attempts.
But what I really like is the old-school touches it has: no recharging health and you're not limited to carrying only two weapons at a time.
And with the backpack system, they struck a nice balance between having your arsenal always available and being able to quickly change weapons in emergency siatuations.
I know, the premise of "(not real) Zombies" is quite cliched, and the gameplay is nothing out of the ordinary, but still, Naughty Dog managed to make something great out of it.
I especially like the semi-stealth approach to combat, because the human enemies don't magically know where you are once you've been spotted. It's actually quite fun to evade the angry mob after a botched stealth kill, just to prey on the scattered guys looking for you.
As some reviews say, the combat really manages both to make you feel vulnerable and empowered. There's always the a thin line between being hunted or the hunter, and in the best encounters, you switch sides more than once.
Also, the story's quite good, I did care for the characters.
IMHO that game is the "Half-Life 2" for the PS: a game that perfected a tried and true formula, great graphics and strong story.
Also, the MP is actually quite fun for a 4vs4 cover based shooter/stealth action game. And NO regenerating health, neither in SP nor MP!
Hm, I'll buy it too, because, while definately NOT a high fidelity physics sim, it's very entertaining car-porn.
EDIT: Just realised that I'm frequenting these forums for over 10 years now. Scary.
Perhaps someone should tell them 'muricans that you oughn't eat them eggs whole, but first remove the toy from inside... Then perhaps less 'murican kids would choke on them.
Bad jokes aside, it is a fact that most gun related deaths, both intentional and accidental, are caused by legally owned guns. So restricting access to guns ought to bring down those numbers.
Now if that will result in an increase of gun violence with illegaly acquired guns is to be seen. Might happen, but IMHO not to an extent that would outweigh the lives saved by restricitve measures.
Bought me two of these at 4gb each, as my old RAM was faulty, which was causing me quite a hassle over the last year.
Now everything's running fine. yay.
In short, it's a PS3 free to play FPS. What makes it interesting is that it's tied in with EVE Online, the space MMO from CCP, sharing the same universe and economy. Right now, as it's still in beta, the interactions between the two are limited to requesting orbital strikes from actual eve space pilots (and them being able to perform them, of course), but it's planned that both gameplay and market-wise, they will influence each other more strongly, like having Dust players conquer planets for resources and the facilities on them for themselves, or for other eve corporations.
I for one play it since the closed beta and I love it. Gameplaywise it's comparable to the Battlefield series, allthough it's a tad slower and tons more complex as you can (and should) customize your gear and upgrade your Mercenery (or Dustbunny, as the Eve pilots lovingly call them) very much like in an RPG.
And even though it does monetize on player equipment, it's not pay to win, as the best equipment is only available via the in game currency, so you don't have to pay anything to succeed and have a good time.
It went open beta last week, so it's free to download and play, and as there are a number of PS3 players in here, I thought it might interest some of you.
Also, if you use my recruitment link here: https://dust514.com/recruit/56Twv6/
You get a special Assault Rifle and a skillpoint booster accelerating your progress for the first seven days.
And to be frank with you, I too should recieve a reward if you sign up via that link, even though it's not yet disclosed what that reward will be.
Also, if ou play it, feel free to add me up in game. My Dustbunny's called "Coleus Rattus" (note the space in the middle :P)
It's quite basic actually: if you meet somebody during a "high" (as in: a party, rave, concert, whatever makes emotions go up, especially if it includes the intake of alcohol or drugs), it creates the utopian expectiation that the "high" is the norm state. If life reverts back to normal, the expectation can't be met, making the relationship feel boring, shallow or even depressing. Thus, it's a sure way ticket for an early end.
So for a relationship to last, it's better if it started (as in, you get to know each other, not neccesarily romantically) during your every day live. Then, even if the romatic parts starts during a "high", it still ahs better chances to last, as you know each other outside of that exceptional situation.
I wonder why religious people always mix up being religious with ethics. Just being an atheist doesn't make you an amoral monster.
I for one AM an atheist by heart, yet I do earn my living helping others, and trust me when I say that it's NOT the paycheck that makes me do this.
And to be frank, I actually think people are quite scary if the only thing preventing them from being killers or rapists is some sort of imaginary father figure that would punish them for giving in to those urges.
As I see it, we only got one life, so it's not only in our interest to make the best out of it, but also common courtesy to try to not negatively influence the lives of others.
Huh? How so? I'm an atheist and I don't feel that my point of view is pessimistic. Actually, I'm rather a helpless optimist.
I don't think that I'm missing anything at all by not being able to experience "relgious feelings", as the universe and life itself, as I see it, is full of wonder and excitement without having an entity crating it all on an ineffable purpose.
Also, the thought that I and everyone else simply ceases to exist when they die is not pessimistic or hopeless. It just means that you should make the best out of the time you have and appreciate it.
Bought me one of these beauties. Because my GFs sister shredded our working one. And as the bitch ain't got a job, she's only paying a fraction of it.
With paying for a car, that was one expensive september... It'll take me at least till the christmas bonus to get out of the reds...
Got myself a new ride, and a "famous" one to boot. Now I too can pretend to be a star in a reasonably priced car!
Allthough it's not as sporty as the brown top gear car, as it's only the 90 bhp common rail diesel version of the CeeApostropheD.
But then, I don't need a car that's quick, but one that's economical. As I start to study again next month, I'll have to commute 180 kilometers (so 360 km per trip) to the university twice a week for the next three years. So using little fuel of a cheaper variety (as diesel's not as heavily taxed here) makes me save teh monies!
The alloy wheels came with it, as did a set of winter tyres on steel wheels, which is nice.
Also, as I both need the boot to haul stuff I need for work (as I work in youth care, that would be parasols, bikes, skis etc. for valuable spare time activities :P), and to offer comfortable backseat space for my carpool fellows, it's the "Sporty Wagon" and not the hatchback.
There's a medium sized scrape on the rear bumper, but I don't mind that, as it's all plastic underneath the paint, so no risk of rusting.
In the background is my 55 bhp Polo that will be the commuting car for my GF from now on.
And to any of you who pity me on my economical boxes: Not only are they dirt cheap to run, it's also more fun to drive a slow car quickly than to drive a quick car slowly!
And here's my point: sensible people know that you cannot ever be sure that you are in fact alone. Unless you're driving on a salt flat where you can see for miles in each direction.
For example, I've seen the aftermath of a car crashing to a brick wall right into a living room, at night with no traffic whatsoever in the vicinity. It was mere coincidence that noone inside was hurt. Sure, that's a freak accident, but sensible people should still think about possibilities like that, and thus keep their sporty or drifty driving to places where it really is safe for everyone else: TRACKS!
I think you mixed up "pussy" with "intelligent person".
And trust me, I have nothing against idiots leaving the human gene pool. I do oppose them using cars for that though, as they tend to take sensible people with them.
