Quote from 96 GTS :Sounds stupid, but is the wheel plugged into the wall?

Oh the memories, I remember when I first got my wheel, I missed this important point too!

Quote from Nick_ll :How is this "knowing anything programming" relevant at all? We're talking of the 3D works in LFS right now. Not Scawen's job of programming. Don't confuse that.

There you go, backs up my point about knowing sweet fa about the whole process of game development.

However I spotted in a later post "finally a useful reply", I'd be careful not to be rude, I'm merely adding my voice to the argument. Not being offensive in anyway.

I'm not trying to de-grade your work, just saying that you have spent that time on a wheel, imagine that on a whole game. Takes a long time right? Hence why the dev's deserve a break instead of people jumping on the bandwagon of asking for improvements asap. Let them do their work and you do your's is my philosophy.

Quote from Nick_ll :Is being able to do 3D models myself , my own textures and either put them in a game engine or render, and knowing the time it takes to do such things enough information about it to be entitled to complain?

This has no relevence, how much time and effort do you think went into this game?

4 hours?

Without meaning to be rude, you made a steering wheel. They made an entire game!

Now I'm not saying I know anything about programming, I know nothing, the fact is they put months of work into this game and people are complaining nothing is being done atm. That annoys me tbh.

Quote from Nick_ll : IMO there's a great lack of both feedback and speed in Eric's work. We know pretty much what Scawen is up to, but not Eric. We never know.

To be quite honest, what these three guys have achieved on their own deserve's a bit of a break from it. I wouldn't for one minute begrudge Eric having a break, even if Scawen is back working hard. Just be careful not to judge people without having enough information to back it up.

Also some of the latest patches like P9 don't only accomodate language fixes.

People generally don't understand that LFS is a game for serious racers.

Whether that be due to the fact that it's not heavily advertised to give that impression, or the fact that a couple of 12 year olds find it on the internet and tell their mates etc etc. I don't know how this can be changed in the short run.

Also this game has a community which is far easier and accesable for the average user than any other game, hence why you can get the odd idiot posting.

It's a demo because it's free and a taster. Giving away S1 would then make that the demo wouldn't it? Allow the dev's to make money on all of their work.

LFS is the first driving simulator I have played, all I hear is people complaining instead of taking a step back and looking at what we have.

1) The game is great value!

2) I hardly notice the bugs!

3) The graphics are great! Using the high-res skies make the game look even better.

4) The racing is generally good, even better if you sign up for a league of some sort.

5) There are enough car and track combinations too keep you busy for a lifetime!

What more do you want?

Yeah I like it, seems to all gel together okay. My quick reply is working, I'm using Firefox 1.0.7. For those with whom it's not working I would seriously recommend Ctrl + F5. Works wonders! Smile

The only thing is, that I registered for LFS in November, but didn't buy a licence till July time. Nit-picking though to be honest

Quote from tristancliffe :Just a little camera, screwed onto a small strip of steel, and screwed onto the plastic lip of Will's hat. I think it should have been mounted on rubber to damp vibrations, but we didn't know that until afterwards.

The first time we saw the camera output was at about 2pm, and it was perfect - but we were carrying the helmet, and it was only about 30ft from the receiver. On track, it was moving a lot, and at times went nearly 200ft from the receiver.

Next year we hope to spend a bit more on the camera, and have the reciever somewhere more central (or at least without any walls in the way).

Sorry

Don't say sorry, it was the best you could do. The quality's not a problem, you can still get the essence of Will's driving. I think everyone appreciates the effort that went in for the meet. It's great to see what's happened.

I think there is actually, but I'll let someone with a bit more knowledge of LFS as a program tell you how :P

Gutted that I couldn't make it, I thought I might be able to come and spectate but no luck. However, hopefully I will have learnt to drive by the time the next one comes around. Looking forward to meeting you all, I think this highlights what a community this game has!

Great pictures, they're making me increasingly jealous everytime I look at them :P

Will had you had a long night on the cokes. You looked knackered on one of those photos!

The Formula XR has lighter force feedback, but it's incrediably accurate. The main reason for that is just, due to the amount of downforce the car creates it very rarely gets out of shape. Throw it sideways then see the result.

Thanks guys, nice to know some people love me.

Looking forward to the challenges ahead. Hope to see you on track.

And don't argue with Mark he's identical to Kimi Raikkonen, White hair, no personality and reckons he can race! Oh well maybe he can race but never mind!

Your a bigger tit than me!

James just go for the standard track layout that was used. That's your best bet to be honest.

Quote from XCNuse :lol i didnt want that to get too deep lol i just couldnt come up with a better example

@chris; i know.. i used to race oval races all the time, but not nearly as much since its boring me now...... and i really dont have many problems, the only times i have problems is when my FPS drops like mad at start and spin out, but you have to admit, its not nearly as bad as it was when S2 first came out

lol and dont worry chris.. your reason why there shouldnt be an F1 is just as bad

I'm struggling understand why my argument is just as bad?

Don't you agree we need to have altering track conditions etc etc?

Quote from XCNuse :sounds the same to me.. but thats over computer and whatnot, so its hard to tell..
owell.. thats kinda odd though, i wonder if they were going all out or not, cause it sure did take a while to get up to 20k :S

@chris and al and all of you whom agree with them
... would you prefer to not have an FV8 and no FOX but the other cars instead? in a way thats what you are saying, lets get rid of the high HP cars and get some slower cars .. i mean.. we all want diversity, and by limiting it to that.. its kinda ruining the game
plus, as mentioned before LFS is meant to simulate all types of racing.. so why should F1 be left out?
in a way, its similar to antidrifters.. they dont drive the track right so lets get rid of them.....
well.. what would you do when someone kicks you out of your house because you believe a way.. or in a deep way of looking at this.. nazism.. if you dont believe this or do this.. then you arent welcome
(not trying to be mean, just proving a point of what it sounds like stereotypically)

My Favourite car is the FOX, so why on earth would I have the viewpoint that I want these types of cars out of the game.

You're so called assumptions are well off the mark, and being quite frank with you, your reasoning behind why you think there should be F1 cars in the game is quite ridiculous. Mate go on a F08 Oval server and see how people can't harness the power.

Okay add driver aids, but isn't LFS trying to be a pure driving simulator without these, focusing on driver talent rather than how well technology makes up for your lack of skill.

In my honest opinion f1 is poor at the moment, and there are many purely dedicated f1 games out there that it will be very hard for the developers to compete in this market.

LFS if you ask me, doesn't need more cars or tracks, it needs things like weather, altering track conditions and an improved tyre and damage model. I'd rather see these than including f1 cars that's for sure!
