Even though this rumour looks almost entirely baseless, here's what I think.
Frankly I'd like to see LFS stick to fictional tracks, there's far more imagination involved. I've never seen the attraction of a real track in this game anyway. Besides, if a real track ever turned up, people would either get bored of it entirely after 2 months or just race one car on the same layout for the rest of eternity. I'm not a huge fan of the Scirocco for similar reasons, though (also because the new car is nowhere near as good looking as the original 70s one). It's an average FWD coupe, which just isn't going to hold the attention of people who like open-wheel racing and GTR racing. The cruise fan-base will probably be happy but do the devs and the community think that's the right way to go?
Is there anybody else in the community who actually likes the fact that LFS is based in a semi-fictional world?
They're part of a pack I'm making of high-res versions of the default skins, plus some of my own to make up a 32 car GTR grid. I could post the XRR and FXR ones I guess, the FZRs aren't done yet.
Been a while since I posted anything here. I was bored as hell tonight so I made this: XR GTR racing on a track not currently in the LFS universe, but probably located in France.

Took about 3 hours to do, I think the only parts that weren't hand drawn were the cars (except the lights and reflective highlights). Everything else is done in Photoshop with a tablet pen and filters, using photo reference obviously. I'll post up the full version if anyone's interested, unfortunately it's only 1280 x 768 because I didn't notice the resolution was down from 1900 x 1200 until I was finishing it off.
[edit] I'm a dumbass and overwrote the full size file with the version I resized to 800 pixels wide FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Yeah it's a graphical 'addon' which simulates changing light intensity, like how when you walk out of a dark room everything seems really bright for a second and then evens out.
Most games apparently think it's "make all the light areas glow so much it blinds you".
EA's Superbike series was fantastic, as was GP500.
Surprised to see no love for F-Zero in this thread tbh. F-Zero X is still a favourite of mine, along with Wipeout Fusion and X-G Racing 3. Futuristic games oh yeah.
Every 25 minutes it gives you a roughly 25% chance of getting any item. This could result in nothing in 8 hours, or 4 hats in an hour (somehow). Personally I've idled and played for about 28 hours in the last week and found several Ubersaws and Kritzkriegs, but nothing else. I do have 8 Jarates though.
Which will be helpful when they finally implement that trading system mentioned 4 months ago.
Just something I made to show the new XRR skins I've done. High-res remakes of the default ones and a couple of extras. Yes I know the stitching is terrible, first time I've done it manually.
When you're doing motion blur on the background, remember not to select the cars' shadows. The shadows are moving at the same pace as the cars and would be in focus as well. Or were the 2nd and 4th pictures taken in spots where LFS doesn't draw the shadows under the cars?
Some rather more unfamiliar names taking up the higher placings for tomorrow's race. Fantastic effort by Spies in his debut! Haga in 13th, Corser mired back in 17th, that'll make for some interesting racing. The only thing missing is the Aussie wildcards in there to mix things up. Bring back Craig Connell and Shawn Giles!
