Okay, that's fine, just making sure

The next step is to post a replay. Which imo, is the most common reply to topics like this.
You could also tell us what controller setup your are using?

You didn't metion if you have a setup that was capable of running that speed.

I had an orginial Mad Catz Andretti wheel as my first.
It was quite good at the time. Non FFB.

I'm sure there is a wiki/history page somewhere on the interweb that has the info your desire.

LeMans special

Don't know if I'll be able to do it right, I am noob skinner, but I'm long time Illustrator user. I found a good 2D render of it on a blog that has Top/Right/Left views which seem just perfect for skinning in LFS, if I can make it fit.

Oh heck, I'll go ahead and share here..

I'd love to be the first one to skin this, but I'm sure there are great many more talented LFSer's that would do a better job of it. So there it is, have at it.

I'll still try it myself though

Quote from samdale : driving on the far side of the kerbs is NOT.

That's what we were talking about. 2 in the dirt, 2 on the kerb.

Thanks for the tips all. I'll get a 44 soon I think. I was testing some last night and was getting low-mid 45's without really stressing. So its' there, I just need to work on it some more.

I'll post a replay when I finish my Flying Lizard FZR skin

No, I think I'm only losing .5 maybe 1 there. The rest is braking too early on T1 and maybe 25m too early on the other 2 brake zones.

I started trying the near 50 brake zone for T1 and can see how I have been doing it somewhat wrong, or too cautious.

So, I can say that I AM slow. thanks

WoW, that's just crazy. I must be a slug driver or something. That set just kills me.

Here the set's I'm currently playing with, they are similiar but seem to handle differently to me. Good luck with them

Well, took lunch to watch a few drivers on CD1 (if was a full race)

Boot was able to drive an exceptional lap, high 42's with a chicane path similar to what I try to keep. ie not putting wheels in dirt on 1st curb, don't (or barely) touch the middle curb, using all the green and curb on exit.
Other's were doing the full curb hop on entry, but yes some weren't and still have good laps 42-43's. So my misconeption is complete.

I don't hate or dislike. I just try to not cut. I also needed some feedback (thank you) in order to help me understand where my missing lap time is. Besides just being slower.

Oh, too clairfy what I was saying at the T1 speed. I think your right.
It just a view that after hitting the brake zone, a glance at the speedo, I try to look for 100-110. Then I figure I hit it good and yes, get to full throttle asap for the long run to Turn 2. (if you look at AS4 as being a 5 Turn track, which I do when I think about just brake zones)

back to work....
/thanks

Hi Mike

I'm got good punch in the system now, run 1680x1050 on 22"LCD and normal 70-80FPS, down to 40's with a full field. I see you're still struggling /poke :P

I'm talking about the no wheels on the track at all for the AS chicane. Between the white lines, the kurb is not track. So the really fast lappers (I've seen) have 2 in the dirt and 2 on the kurb, with the mid-section scraping and dragging across the inside kurb edge. The exit of chicane is a little more believable with this line because of the small green concrete patch there makes it more believable but the entrance chicane does not.

And it is a catch22, if I don't do it, I am slower. If I do, I feel like I'm doing wrong, learning bad habits, etc etc but can be faster (if I don't screw it up).

I'm not bitching/moaning about it, just another general discussion. Thanks for posting friends.
I'm not slow, I just don't...

S2.X Week2 Review
The menus, the layout, the dynamic feel, the racing, the driving, and everything that is LFS is still absolutely awesome and incredible fun. No flashy NFS or overboard Official Game sponsorships getting in the way. Just pure driving excitement and fun.

I have spent most of my time online doing the AS4 on CD1 with a FZR. This really is my fav package and whether full grid or just 5 people it's good damn fun. Last week I was just learning the line and brake zones, a good +8 seconds off a race pace of 42-44. A couple days work and I pretty much got it figured out. I can run easy now high 45 to low 46's all day.

Yet still I am off the 'fast guys' pace of below 43's. And I think I know why.

I don't cut any curbs and I don't like sliding/drifting. I tend to drive realistically (imno).

I have run with some fast guys and the only thing that seperates my laps from their is the T1 and the final chicane.

T1 not so much, I've spectatored quite a few going into their, it's all about your min speed reached. 100mph is the min, 110mph is ideal. I've not seen anyone go through much faster then that. The brake leading into this apex speed is also important, 100m is safe, 75-50m is trail braking into the apex and good for a few tenths if you don't loose it too much. Anyway, I'm not the fastest going through T1 but I'm 9/10's there for sure.

Now the last chicane is a different story and I think this dovetails the whole engine/suspension damage multi-page thread going on. I can not see how anyone can cut a 43 without abusing this chicane. The entry curb is the one, not the middle, and slightly the exit curb.

So that's what I feel, I will never get below 45 without hopping that 1st curb. And I HATE doing it.

The same thing happens on all the big chicanes at other tracks too. Depending on how that damage computation is done, I think a lot of track times are in for a big reality check if it means you can't hop curbs like the AS4 final chicane anymore.

And if it was me, there are no safety issues required for our virtual tracks, therefore, there would be ZERO chicanes like the AS4 final.

Thanks for reading my morning ramble.

I'll only T it when I see the lappe not move over and wreak the lapper.
In other words I'm spectating and am more able to comment on the exact situation.

While I'm driving, well, I have a Horn and Flashers most of the time

Messages while I'm driving I rarely read becuase *gasp* I'm driving. So someone who is spamming a bind key, how do you even know who it's for/from/to and all that (in relation to you/others are at that moment on the track). I don't race with Names floating over cars (sorry).

I've been on CD the past 2 nites for a few runs. Overall it is very good fun. Last nite was way crowded. But once I was up to speed (proudly 4+ seconds off the pace) it was no problem. Eventually you are going around by yourself expect for a few corners here or there. and seeing people who just passed you slide out on their own is always entertaining.

I will not intentionally block hold or dive on anyone
I will always hold my side and give a lane for anyone if I think they are in position or going to be in position to move past me.
I will pull over for the entire field at Green (unless it's a Pit race in which case I'll do my best and race hard (after T1)for a 1st lap pit)

After a wee bit at CD last nite, it's pretty obvious after 5 or so laps where you stand in the pecking order. I don't have a problem with that. My only goal is to drive faster and better.

I also tend to brake a length or two early it seems, sorry.

Hey Hey,
It's been a long time my old NAL friends.

I installed X last night and am just getting back up to speed. I haven't logged since the early demise of NAL sometime last year.

Hope to get online with you soon and turn some laps. Or at least get out of the way while learn the tracks again.

Is MRodgers/Nighthawk running with you all?

Cheers and Hello

Quote from sinbad :(, some things should always be adjustable because equipment varies).

For sure. Aero and Tyres at the least. Diff and some Suspension maybe even.

But really, a Race_S Leage would be bombasitc. They are good and fun.

I suppose it would take a league/honor system to do.

Thanks for the replys.
Luckily I still have Inferno in the old bookmarks so that's all good.

I remember spending many painfull laps getting some of those to work for me though. I really like the safe feel of the Race_S but know it obviously not the fastest.
So it becomes of decision of work up the Race_S or tune down the Inferno sets.

If anyone has an honor league that runs spec or limited spec setups that would be grand to know about. Hmm, maybe I'll start on in my spare time (not)
Spec Setup Racing Servers?

Are there any public servers with a RACE_S or other spec setup policy?

(mainly I only ask because I just installed X, haven't played since L, my old LFS-NAL league went poof, and I rather get casual racing with the RACE_S spec then going through a lot of development time on setups. bad enough I don't remember most of the tracks (almost))

Good to be back all /wave

Quote :The ranting german moderators phrased it this way:

You missed that 1st part hey?

For the US folks, the CBS tape delay was absolutely dreadful. I put it on MUTE after about 10 laps. Thankfully, the MotoGP of China later in they day more than made up for the lack of excitment in this race. Now that's racing. There were more passes in one MotoGP race then there is all season in F1.

F1, ditch the wings and go back to slicks. Let the men drive, not the engineers.

The one thing I remember seeing on TV (not posted here yet) was the front element of the 248 was seperating from the nose at very high speed. They showed this live during the race and the commentors commented on it.
The next race, this seperation was no longer occurring.

There is no doubt that much hanky panky is being played out with aero and wings. But that is only b/c imho the overall package for mech grip so hopelessly weak.
They should:
ban elements between the F/R wings
ban multi-element wings
return to slicks

But I'm just a guy who watches the race and nothing else so that's my .0001 US$

And you guys ROCK with all the links in this thread /bow /salute

I'm just a casual racer. Okay, very infrequent casual racing. (although I still have my CD of NFS(1) back when I raced with a CH CombatStick)
This wheel package doesn't interest me at all. The Shifter/Button assy is completely bonkers. There is no way I want to go back to shifting by stick, paddles forever. The wheel itself looks nice, but there is no way I would go without more buttons on the wheel.
The best part of this package is the pedals, not doubt about that, they look awesome. But the other 2/3's is fubar'd.

With LFS, all my MomoBlack buttons serve a very usefull purpose. Clutch, 3 Looks, pit spd, headlights, (hmm and something else I'm forgetting at the moment). In GTR it was even better, 2 buttons just for F/R brake balance. (LFS >> GTR)

Anyway, just posting for the fun of it. I was ROFL seeing all the 'other' G25 topics.
The wheel market has been very very dry for quite some time now.

LFS Replay Control
Cargo
S2 licensed
Hi all,
Every few weeks I'll tear around the net in frustration as again I sat at the keyboard, fingers dancing, while I try to capture the right moment or camera angle from a spr/mpr.
I am SOO in need of some more control of the Replay.
I just don't have the single-student time available now that I'm working-married.
I just stumbled upon an interview at m4driving.it with S2 insider Victor van Vlaardingen
http://www.m4driving.it/article/8/13294.html

It confirmed my worst fears (sic)
----
D: Will there be any replay control (actually u can't rewind them of a few secs for example)?
V: not when S2 is released, so maybe later. It's kind of hard to rewind lfs replays, because every ai (and well, any car basically) in a replay has a 'current state', which changes all the time. Like, an ai is learning all the time, and because a replay is really live, its states keep changing during a replay this has the effect that rewinding is not a simple matter of rewinding some frames, but the state of every car has to be rewound, which is the hard part
----

Might be old news for some of you, but I just wanted to share.

I know where this comes from

And really, there was that one fella on there *cough*palad..*cough* who supposedly has a wheel and he counldn't keep it on the track or away from other people either.

I've played with a joystick since DOS/NFS1 and finally broke down crying and begging for a split-axis wheel. It is what it is. Avoid the Noid(s).
