in lfs's folder inside cfg.txt there is a line that says port 80 0, change it to port 80 1 and try, i think it unlucks lfs using port 80, not sure :P , about that license file i dont think thats possible, i do know that you can unlock lfs in 2 computers to play in lan, but i dont know if they will be both be active playing online, maybe bob can help you better.
try deleting the .wine folder in your home and run winecfg again?

i believe its glxgears -printfps to print out framerates, weird that lfs doesnt wanna run, ive had lots of wine versions and it has always worked, even from source, maybe try a binary of an older version, the important is to have direct rendering on and that is the proprietary driver doing the work and not mesa emulation, i heard its kinda complicated for ati people, but nvidia cards should work fine as its pretty straightforward to install the driver.

from what ive read they are not stolen and every car in there is registered or atleast has proof of ownership, still its weird to see all those precious cars stuck in a warehouse. this isnt old or from what i remember i first read about this about a month ago. there was some more info in some portuguese forums, but nothing really interesting apart from someone saying they are not stolen. makes you wonder though
yea i get a bit less fps on linux then on windows, and you might wanna turn off shadows and other stuff like mirrors to get fps up.
im sorry to hear that its being so hard to get it on, the bigger problem i think is your ati card, im no expert but people always say ati has crappy linux drivers, personaly i have a nvidia card and wine worked pretty well, just install the deb and run it from the command line, getting the wheel to work was another story :P

cd to the right dir, something like: cd ~/lfs
then: wine lfs.exe
if you try to double-click it in graphic mode konqueror/nautilus i think that error appears, so use a terminal it will also spit out alot of info if it errors out, later on if you get it to work you can make a little bash script that cd's to the right directory then executes wine lfs.exe, like:

cd /path/to/lfs/
wine lfs.exe

yeah some people are very competitive and get pissed off real fast... i only said that cuz this being a online racing simulator and thats were all the fun is after all.
i have a ms sidewinder and i have to reverse it in all the isi games but in lfs it works out of the box.

lfs depends more on cpu power, that upgrade will do nothing.

depends on the time you play at, usually theres alot of people around in the evenings in europe (gmt) time, might also be an old patch youre using but i doubt that.
network fatal and notsock errors all point at network problems... why are you formating and looking at google earth and stuff, id look at network card drivers make sure your playing in a low ping server and check with your isp for any connectivity problems.i doubt its lfs' fault there. i ve seen that error and it only happens when someone here at home is downloading or uploading stuff and there isnt enough bandwith to make a proper connection, might try antivirus/spyware stuff also, a format is good but a bit drastic for a game like lfs that doesnt even has an installer, its just unzip and play.
yea alot of people dont know about commands,would be nice to have some stats displayed in garage on a separate menu or something, maybe a mini lfsworld inside our pit but name and acronym would be fine, but then id like a "wich way is it" sign when you leave the pits.
