OK...I was just going by the rules on the MOE website:

Quote :Skins
All teams must have their own, individual racing livery. If a single racing team submits two or more cars to the MoE, the racing liveries of these cars must be significantly different. The racing livery must be fitted with the teams’ assigned number on the sides, hood and rear bumper. The real names (no nicknames) of the team’s drivers must be listed on the car in a readable way; the names must be accompanied by a flag of the nationalities of all drivers. Also, the sunstrips that can be found in this topic are mandatory.

Technically yes, but since most residential connections do not use static IP's, it may be a moot point.

What about that discussion about stripes on the rear of the GT2 cars?

Quote from joshdifabio :How about seperating the western and eastern hemispheres for scheduling purposes, and then having a couple of final rounds at the end of the season comprising of the top half from each hemisphere?

Edit: Actually, there are only about 10 countries in the western hemisphere, so that wouldn't really work .

FYI...list of Western Hemisphere countries:

Antigua, Argentina, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Easter Island (Chile), Ecuador, El Salvador, Falkland Islands (Argentina), Fernando de Noronha Archipelago (Brazilian territory), French Guiana, Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana (UK), Hispaniola, Honduras, Jamaica, Juan Fernandez Islands, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, Suriname (Netherlands), United States, Uruguay,US Virgin Islands, Venezuela

Thanks Tweak!

I think we've all been getting a little tired of some of the stale content, so LOTA has been trying to change up the racing style a bit to add some variety. Like doing the touring style format of 2 pits and standings-based ballasts, and the MRT Custom Course Cup, where you don't know what you are racing on until the day of the race. We're also considering a random combo series, similar to the MRT series, where you don't know the car or track until the day of the race.

At any rate, it's been fun, and we too hope to see some new LFS content to spice up the LOTA racing!

League Of The Americas turns one year old!

Today, September 18, 2007, is the one year anniversary of the LOTA domain registration, marking the official start of the League Of The Americas. One year ago, we (members from CoRe Racing, Land Of The Free Racing, CHOPS Racing Canada, and BlackSheep SimRacing) concluded our league planning conversation after having run two mini-leagues to test out our ideas. LOTA was started out of the need for quality racing in North America, which turned into a focus on serving the entire Western Hemisphere.

Back on May 19, 2006, we began what was to become an extensive conversation, including 614 forum posts in 62 different threads. We chose to start out slow and talk about things first, laying a good foundation for the league we envisioned: initial ideas, race & championship format, car/track choices, rules & points, governing of the league, logistics (including LFS servers, web presence, etc.), and finally two separate, 4-race invite-only mini-leagues to test our ideas. Throughout this conversation, we fielded many ideas from several people. As human nature and interaction goes, there were some good ideas, and some not so good ideas that were argued over, but we eventually worked out what we wanted to do.

LOTA officially started one year ago, and since we've presented some fun series that has produced some great racing action:
  • Formula V8 Challenge (Fall 2006 & Winter 2007) - our first and will always be our signature premeir series. Look for it to return in the future. Two seasons of WR quality laps from some of the best in LFS. Congratulations to our two champions: Tweaker (Fall 2006), CoRe.rcpilot (Winter 2007)
  • Formula XR Challenge (winter 2007) - Great racing in the premeir FOX series proved that open wheel racing can be close. Congratulations to CoRe.BigTime (Winter 2007)
  • RallyCross Championship - Racing in the dirt, side by side. Close racing was seen throughout the season in this first of the mini-leagues, for individuals, and for the first time, squads. Congratulations to the Winter 2007 champions: CoRe.Viruz (individual), and CoRe.Viruz/CoRe.Banshee56 (squad).
  • Micro-GTR Shootout (Spring 2007) - Our second, and most popular mini-series to date, was the first test of the expanded grid sizes in LFS, and saw two great championships crowned: 1ST»A.Terrahe (individual) and CoRe.BigTime/CoRe.DeadWolfBones (squad).
  • MRT Custom Course Cup (Summer 2007 onging) - The S1 most popular car, custom courses, and a unique format has become a popular series. A HUGE thanks to LFS veteran David "Le Kid" Sirois for the tracks, and that great video! Good luck to the MRT C3 competitors for the remaining of the season!
  • Grand Touring Cup (Fall 2007 ongoing)- GTR's, field balancing, squads, touring style racing in the tin-tops!
  • Special Events: The 2006 Christmas Clash - reverse grids, the winter texure mod, and some great racing action to celebrate the holidays.
  • Thursday Night Thunder - Random combos voted on by the drivers, reverse grids, lot's of fun in this non-championship series.
Our mode of operation has evolved, as has our website and our governing group, as we move forward and continue developing our league idea. It's taken some time to get it where we are now, and we are not yet finished, with several new racing & championship ideas, along with more web refinements, coming in the future. We appreciate the strong following that you, the LOTA membership, have shown over the last year and during our early development.

Thanks to the League and Series Officials (ZoltUSA, CoRe.Banshee56, |||bdshan, lambchop44, sweetchop17, |||MARSH, 1ST»A.Terrahe, David "Le Kid" Sirois) for keeping things going. Thanks to those that have served as server admins in a pinch: CoRe.BigTime, 1ST»A.Terrahe, CoRe.DWB, CoRe.Forbin, elderchop29). A huge thanks also goes out to the many people that have donated to help keep LOTA online. Thank you to 500Servers.com, for partially sponsoring LOTA with great U.S.-based LFS Servers!

Lastly, but certainly the most important, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our racers that have shown great loyalty, respect in racing, and wonderful friendship throughout this past year. You make what LOTA is today, and will continue to do so as we head down that front stretch into tomorrow!

Monday Night Random Combo Cup - interested?

The League Of The Americas is considering a new random combo racing series, in which we will use a set group of cars and tracks, but the combo raced on each night is drawn for randomly by one of the drivers on the day of the race!

You can find the details, and a poll gauging interest, here: http://www.lfs-lota.net/index.php?topic=783.0

I've raced in several different leagues, with varying types of cars, and on most of the regular tracks. I love league racing because the driving is cleaner, and you get the pit strategy that you don't get in pickup racing. In fact, I don't even do much pick-up racing anymore.

Quote :If there was a serious league that restricted practice by only announcing the track an hour or two beforehand then I would be very interested.

Incidentally, the League Of The Americas is putting the final details together for a series just like this one. We already run our relatively popular MRT Custom Course Cup, in which the tracks aren't shown (in picture form) to the drivers until about 8 or so hours prior to the race, and then in physical form not until a 30 minute practice just prior to the first race of the evening. Our new series we are doing will publish the list of cars and tracks used, but not in which combinations until randomly selected by one of the drivers before practice.

Quote from horrgakx :Can anyone explain the exact reason and benefit from a lag-lap? Oh, and I'd still like to see improvement in discipline on the lag lap and not use it like an excuse to play bumper-cars.

I think the name "lag-lap" is more historical than it is descriptive. Since Patch W, the start lag has seemed to diminish. However, the benefits of these "lag-laps" are still there in that they serve to give everyone a chance to experience a race start with the people they are racing with on that day, and make adjustments in strategy. Yeah, I know it's not realistic, but neither are the cars nor the tracks we run on, so how does it hurt the quality of racing?

I agree that the discipline shown by many drivers on lag-laps is not what you want in a real race, but I can't see penalizing someone for incidents on lag laps.

I agree about the addition of the lag lap and enforcement of the "ro rejoin" and "No chatting" thing.

[KR]NOFEAR on server 2 lagged out within the first lap, only to reconnect and return to the race right in front of the leaders. He gave room to pass, which was good (if you can call it that). This was happening while he was arguing with PaulC2K about how it isn't fair that he cannot rejoin after practicing all day (that's all he prepared was "all day"?). About 8 chat messages later, he finally was told to argue elsewhere, and any more messages will get him kicked.

You lose connection...sorry, your race is over. Come back and rejoin in front of the leaders, that's CANNOT be allowed, not can it be left without disciplinary action. Arguing while a race is going on should result in instant kick. Coming back should be 12-hour ban.
