Why don't you just use "view source" on a web page that does what you want?

Quote from 96 GTS :if you don't want something flashy looking, but what something nice, reliable, and powerful, I'd go with IBM/Lenovo. In my experience, they are absolutely bulletproof, they last forever. They are not flashy, no bright silver, no blue LEDs, but they work.

I'd go with the T series personally, they're light and quick and have rubberized magnesium cases, which are very nice.

I'd second that.

They've had it for quite a while The racing simulation stuff on that page is most likely just because the keyword "LFS" in google for example comes up with racing simulator related links, so they display ads based on that context.

hmm... -2 points for me for overlooking that possibility

Quote from AndroidXP :Guess what's the case with

rfactor.com
gtr.com
nkp.com

All different stuff - I'd hardly call lfs.com hijacked. Also I can't see how they benefit from that. If I'd type lfs.com, expecting Live for Speed, and then land on this weird site I'd just take it as a lesson learned and not use the wrong url anymore. But maybe that's just me.

Yes, however all the domains you've noted have nothing to do with the respective game, and all seem to be legitimate websites. lfs.com OTOH is clearly gaming/racing advertisement site, which obviously expect LFS users to get into their ads maze. So these are not the same.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :If you actually liked LFS even a bit, you'd know that its www.liveforspeed.net and that that isnt even LFS related and its like when you type in a webiste but put say .com istead of .net and it takes you to a random search engine, simular thing happend there illepall

I know what's the correct LFS site, thank you. I was commenting on lfs.com capitalizing on LFS. that's it.
www.lfs.com hijacked??? [no]

Did anyone try http://www.lfs.com lately??? It's one of those advertisement hells, but this one clearly builds itself on the audience of LFS, as all the "links" are racing games and simulation related. That sucks... I bet the devs could take over it..

You should start with your aims for the bike. Every usage will have other adequate bikes. It also depends on your prior experience. If you have none, then it's best to start with something not too extreme, or else it would only increase your chances to get hurt. Also, for 1st bike you should consider the possibility of damages which costs lots of money. So it's best to start with used bike. Bikes ARE dangerous you know.

Other than that.. whatever bike you buy, take some riding courses to improve your riding skills (beyond the lessons you take for the license), and practice practice practice. And be careful

Quote from Hankstar :...
Israel's government and their policies do not have complete support among Israelis. There is a growing movement in Israel dedicated to an open dialogue and peaceful, just and legal two-state solution with their neighbours. Recently, Israelis even took to the streets in their thousands to protest their government's assault on Lebanon - a gutsy move considering the insults and hatred hurled towards Israelis who openly disagree with their government.

I wouldn't say it's a gutsy move. Israelies are divided more or less half-half in their support for the government. The country itself (regardless of its military acts) IS very liberal.

The situation sucks guys, and has been so for way too many years. As an Israeli all I can say that most people here are against war (well.. naturally) but are also against the (sort of post occupation) behaviour of the government.

All I know is that too many people (civilians and soldiers alike, from both sides) get killed in this ugly conflict, which basically goes back to 1948... and even earlier (to the biblical days....). Can't tell you what the solution is like... but I can tell you that most people are looking for one.. wars are ugly.

Even as an Israely and a Jew (well.. at least formally) I can tell you that I'm unable to take a side. Both sides are right.. and OTOH, both are wrong in many things that they're doing. I just hope It'll end.. and the sooner the better.

Peace.

Forget the rules for a sec and apply some common sense.

Anyone who wants to be a fair driver and has a blue flag, should let the leaders pass safely ASAP. Even if some rules say different things, don't hang to these rules as an excuse for beeing unfair to the leaders. You're out of the race, they're not.

It really is that simple. You're out of the battle for the lead, you're beeing lapped probably because you're slower, just let them pass and keep their race. Apply common sense as to where and how you let them pass such that it's safe for both of you, but please let them, even if it requires actively slowing down. It's only fair, and that's what you'd probably want if you were a leader following lapped car. Of course, it applies even stronger if you start from the pits after the race has started.

If, however, you KNOW (not guess/think.. etc) that you're faster than the lapping car, you may have your fun and keep your ride, keeping an eye on the map/mirrors and making sure the lapping car is not closing on you. The bottom line is not to interfere with the race at the front. Just out of fairness and because that's what you'd want if it was the other way around.

Is it that hard to agree with?

the best open source video editor out there (jakarta might be an interesting project, but vdub is so much more mature). as mentioned, 1.3c can open asf, but the latest versions are amazing at capture and managing sync issues. highly recommended.

Quote from sdether :I started Full Motion Racing. What we're doing is building a racing simulation center business. We are using Live For Speed and the Force Dynamics 301 as our platform. For the time being, we're localized to San Diego, CA only. We're still in our development phase, and so we've set up the site mostly for people who have seen our demos locally. We've tried not get the hype going too early, hence no plugs for it with the LFS community so far.

We don't have a facility open yet, but are just doing a couple of events here and there to get feedback from people. We're doing this mostly so that we have it properly dialed in by the time we open the doors to the general public. You can find details on past and upcoming events at http://www.fullmotionracing.com/Events.aspx

I can say with some conviction that the LFS/301 combination is an incredible combination. I prefer it to taking my car to autocross or the track at this time.

Just to avoid any rumors starting, the devs are aware of what we are doing. And yes, the rally crash did shake me about quite nicely, no less than i deserved.

hey
With a great coincidence I'm gonna be there on these dates (NECC at San Diego), would it be possible for me to get there and give it a go? Is it open for non BMW drivers? any admission? would you be able to give instructions how to get there from NECC or address?

thx in advance.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :... (k-lite codec pack and Media Player Classic for me).

ffdshow is actually one installation which is one "item" with many decoders and common infrastructure like postprocessing, subtitles, etc. it's way more than enough for anything that "hangs around" and many that don't. it's open source, and it's just amazing.

however, both k-lite and ffdshow require installation, and the original question was, as far as i understood, for a stand-alone playback without any installation.

MPC itself doesn't require installation, and IIRC can be configured from a config file. maybe there's a possibility to use files from ffdshow combined with preconfigured MPC to use those files, into a stand alone player + all needed decoders, without any installation, but i haven't tried that. still, if k-lite or ffdshow are considered, i'd recommend MPC as the player.

Nice pics man, looks very good but drive it carefully hey? take some advanced riding courses if you can afford, they WILL improve your control of the bike.

And on the similar note, Today I'll hopefully close the deal on a supermoto bike (SM converted and VERY improved oldish XR650) which was owned for few years by the current Israeli SM champion . So now I'll have 2 bikes, the other is the VStrom DL650 which is cool for everything although I don't wanna trash it.. the plastics would cost too much.... so.. in order to put some good use to the XR money, I'll have to seriously use it for supermoto action.. yay

here's some supermoto action for your pleasure... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3085836475561057708

Also, you can use mplayer (Precompiled Mplayer win32 GUI binaries), which IMHO is more robust than VLC for plain playback. The gui is minimalistic but enough for anything you need. VLC has tons of options but the UI isn't very usable IMO. Still, good to have choices and both are excelent options.

These teams have great drivers IMHO:

4SR
DSRC
ITEK
NIC
CORE
MUROC

There are many other racers which I like racing with, some fast and aggressive (senna, phlos) some just fast (clownpaint), some plain nice (John Penn, CWMAX, Pepe, Jimi), but all fun sorry for the many I haven't mentioned.. there ARE so many good ppl playing LFS

[edit]
and of course, the (V) team

Good to have such thread after all the "new wreckers in town" threads

Yup, LFS is overwhelming. I remember 1st time after I bought it (was still S1) I got online and just spectated for about an hour, jumping from server to server, not grasping the amount of tracks and cars (which was at least 40% less combos than now), with a grin I couldn't remove

So, take it easy, start with the easier cars (FWD cars, FOX if you're into single seaters). As for popular tracks, start with the not very technical and not very long tracks 1st (aston national, south city classic, fern bay gold are few nice tracks). And, don't forget to respect blue flags if you're racing online. You'll appreciate people who respect blue flags much more when you're less novice

And, most important, get online and have fun oh.. and don't forget to say goodbye to your social life welcome.

Quote from Honey :i agree the problem of wreckers on S2 licensed servers is going every day worse since months.

i mean real wreckers, not "noobs" a noob is slow, have a crappy setup, can't control his car, but don't rush into corner at full speed every time (especially at t1), don't drive in the wrong way, don't do impossible manouvers to block your perfectly prepared pass and very far from him, don't insult you when he just rammed into you, don't await to enter the track (from either a off-road or pit exit) just the exact moment that someone is passing and at full speed obviously.

to me a solution could be a server based crash recording (maximum 10 or 20 seconds) in mpr format wich the server will upload directly to lfs master server. such thing will record usernames involved in car by car contacts and scores a negative point for each of that player. crash record and report will be triggered either by "high speed" crashes automatically or by at least 3 users voting for "crash report".

i know negative points will be given also to innocent people, but here's th solution: the master server keeps updated the statistic distribution of users crashes and flags as a "dirty racers" those who have a number of crashes greater than the standard deviation of the crashes distribution and "clean racers" those who have less.
this is a smart (imho) way to distinguish innocent victims from active wreckers or simply "very guilty" people.
also every 3 complete races with at least 5 racers that are completed without any car to car crash, the master server delete one negative point from the user, this will guarrantee the possibility of redemption for bad or unluck people.

that's an interesting idea
+1 on that one (or a variant of it) from me.

I've experienced the "Idiots attack" recently as well. And I don't think it's a n00b thing. n00bs don't drive well, but most of them listen when you explain them the meaning of blue flags, etc. Sometimes these idiots come few members of a team. Not deliberatly wrecking per-se, but do enough silly things to ruin a good race or many (as others noted, pitting out with zero respect for other drivers, getting in between the leaders with poor driving and unexpected behaviour, laughing after an accident, etc).

Maybe a Licencing system is required. Here's my suggestion:

1. Let LFS have a built in licencing system. This system can be a combination of offline hotlap times and tutorial (the LFS tutorial) times. Winning online races could add credit for these licenses. Maybe even different licenses per car. i.e. slow hotlap = novice licence, superfast = alien licence etc. Maybe even something along the lines of novice licence for at least one car on a category (SS, GTR, FWD, etc) grants you a novice licence for all the category (same goes for "better" licenses).

Now, the licenses don't do anything by themselves, HOWEVER, server admins can decide what kind of licenses they allow on their servers. So complete n00bs servers would not have any license limitation, normal friendly server will require novice license, and servers with superfast drivers will require alien license.

I know a licensing system has been suggested before, but as others said, it's getting kida annoying lately... It's sometimes really hard to find servers without idiots on track.

Nice pics

A shame I "can't" select more than 2, but here are my preferred ones:
- The trees at sunset/rise behind the lake with the fog
- The jokies openning the race riding towards the camera.

The rest that I liked are:
- http://photos1.blogger.com/blo ... 600/100_0883%20edit.0.jpg
- The orang beatle on the tree branch with narrow FOV
- The black swans at the lake
- The 2 jokies (pink in front, light blue back)

Very nice

Even DVD is stored at not more than 5000-6000 kbps (about 17-18M for 30 secs). If you use MPEG 4 variant (like xvid, divx, wmv, etc) instead of MPEG 2 (DVD) you can get that to about half with DVD quality.

So, you're doing something wrong
try http://forum.doom9.org to get some info from the stickies about video conversions.
