1) There's no lag or gaps. U20 worked with 0.10 ms sound lag. U22 sound crackles sometimes with 1 block. 2 blocks crackles only when driving beside wall.
2) Yes if set to 5 but sound lag is quite anoying then.
3) XP + all updates
4) SB Live! Value with latest drivers. "Creative Sound Blaster Live!, DR release 1.3.0". Windows Device Manager says that the driver version is 5.12.2.252

Quote from AndroidXP :Following the same principles of netKar, eh?

In that case there's still hope yet. If it follows principles of the rFactor (v1150), looks like there's still much to be done.

Quote from deggis :I didn't mean new configs, meant that Eric should remake parts of the current tracks. Like the chicanes for example and making corners more narrow and stuff like that.

I prefer new track's than rebuilding old one's. It's much better that there are at least one track per car that suites it well. More track's means more variation of corners and chicanes.

You are absolutely right. Usually those people are quite nice when you meet them in real world, but when they use computer with internet connection, their IQ drops almost at half. Of course they are smart as always, but they forgot the manners.

Quote from JeffR :The LFS crowd seems to be a selective group, as I get the impression that a lot of LFS players don't play other sims as much. The non-LFS players seem to play more of a variety of racing games.

That might be true. LFS is almost only car sim that I play today. Of course there are other good sim's out there, but sooner or later I just stop playing them. I think that development of LFS is the thing that keep's me playing it after all these years. Every now and then LFS get's some new features and other new stuff and the overall quality of the additional stuff stays constant, which is small problem with 3rd party mods IMHO. I realy like many car sim's (GPL, Viper Racing, Nascar, RBR), but sooner or later I've seen almost everything in it and I stop playing it.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :The same could be said if I stole your car (real life), I was just using it, and not stealing it.

That's not realy the same thing, is it? If you download MP3, legal or illegal, are you stealing it? If you shoplift a CD what about then? This data duplication in Internet is sometimes complicate to define when it's legal and when it's illegal.
Of course I don't like when someone is using something without permission but also I do it almost everyday listening downloaded music.

Quote from Woz :Think recording music. Sample at less that twice the highest frequency sound in the music and you will get distorted sound when you play your recording back. The lower the sample the worse the error.

Car chassis flex involves very high frequencies because its rigid. The more rigid the faster you need to calculate

That's why we use low pass filtter with audio. I don't know any reason why it couldn't be used with chassis flex math also.

Quote from RAYfighter :If you mean chat channels known from other online games, then pretty please yes. Private messages and Team messages are quite important things in LFS too, I think. Example: If we wanted to discuss pitstop strategy with teammates, we had to switch to MSN during some league race. Same when my teammate acted like a fool, and I really didn't want to teach him in front of other players.

May I suggest you and your friends to use Xfire. It's a messenger program designed to be used with (online) games. You can open chat window in game without exiting LFS. Also it can be used as VoIP like ventrilo or skype and uses very little computer resources.

Quote from ORION :Baisically, you cant have enough fps, because the more fps you have, the more up-to-date will the image be, which is sent to your screen. Vsync is complete rubbish imo, because it stores the images and sends them later -> delay.

Vsync is not rubbish. There's no effective delay with Vsync on. If the gfx card draw's frames slower than monitor, vsync is better imho. It doesn't matter if the overall fps drops a little if every frame drawn is complete. Frames that are cut in the middle looks ugly if you ask me. The difference in delay is so small and it won't realy matter especially with car sim. When the computer is fast enough to draw over 60 fps or so there's not much a difference anymore if you use vsync or not. But I prefer always to use it.

The background screen colour in some places is the actual "bug".
Most or all background screens will be changed before S2 final.

Ok. Thanks anyway.

Quote from Spudster :Isnt there an option to change the interface colours?

Yes there is. Can you recommend a good font color? Black isn't very suitable when racing and all the other colours I find hard to read in when I have the normal setup screen open.
EDIT: I could change the background picture which would solve my problem.

Scawen, could you add shadows to the font? Depending on the background, I find it hard to read the text sometimes. For example the 'Text Unselected' color is white, but there's also white in the background picture of the settings screen. (optional) Shadows would help a lot in many case. I can't find a better color which works everywhere else.

Quote from AndroidXP :It will change nothing for LFS, as the AEGIA PhysX processor is incompatible with our beloved sim. Maybe there's a way to exploit if for misc eyecandy, like dirt and smoke particles, but it's not possible to accellerate LFS' tyre model.

I would like to see much more enviroinment physics where AEGIA PhysX could suite better AFAIK. Better smoke is one thing and perhaps weather and ground changes. Driving line on gravel and grass wear away where people usualy cut's the corner and dirt spreading on tarmac. I think there could be many areas where simple physics could be used.

Quote from Blowtus :you don't need to do a 'perfect start' in reality to get the benefit from a non wheelspin start. you can watch the start of any race, those that create plumes of smoke don't get off the line well.

How do you know that? Have you been racing or did you just saw that on tv?

Maybe because everything depends on the point of view. When you have found one that suits for you, it's not so easy for everyone to change it.

Quote from mrodgers :In my opinion, yes I can say it is good or bad. My PC is 4 months old. I'm not the CEO of a corporation, just a simple hourly production employee trying to make it in this age today while allowing my wife to stay home and raise our kids ourselves rather than send them somewhere else for 8-10-12 hours a day. If those who program the software make you go out and purchase the absolute top of the line PC to play it, then in my opinion, it is crap.

My 5 yr old daughter plays S2 0.5Q on a freakin Celeron 667 MHz networked to my PC against me in the GTi and at around 35 FPS! Yet, GTL isn't able to run on an Athalon 64 3500?

My three years old PC (P4 2,5GHz) with GF6600GT works quite well with GTL. Your CPU should be almost two times faster than mine so if you don't have realy crapy display card I suggest you to check if there's a problem with your computer or setting in GTL.

Quote from mrodgers :So, you are saying I shouldn't judge GTL because the best I can get is 10 FPS at 800x600x16 running with DX7, no AA/AF, no other cars on track and all ingame options set at minimum, yet LFS I can run 1152x864x32 with 4xAA/4xAF and all options set at maximum at 50 FPS, sometimes 70-80 FPS depending on number of racers?

Well can you realy say if the game is good or bad if you can't even play it? Sure the hardware requirement's are higher, but, IMHO the game is fine. Should I judge LFS if I play it online with GPRS?
