Damaged cars in starting grid

First of all, I hope this is the correct place to post that in.
Second, excuse my bad english

Well, we was training in one of our private servers for next monday race. There was a crash in the chicane of SO Classic and most players got damage... We restarted and... See it yourself.

Quote from TRM.13 :I don't think so...

With my kart, I can easilly drift without any kind of risk, can you do that with FOX?

Yes, at low speeds. Not at 200km/h with downforce

I agree with Linsen, it could be due to the setting.

I know it isn't the topic but I like UF1... Slow cars can also be funny

I don't agree with the first suggestion but loved the second one. We already have pre-heated tyres, so I think we should be able to choose their temp.

It would be great.
Maybe the hotlap spr files will be bigger I can imagine people doing laps and laps to maximize grip, then change their tyres and try to do a fast lap
Online racing would be more interesting... Fastest line should not be always the same because all people doesn't drive in the same line, so in each server the rubber will be in different zones... Looks funny
Maybe it can be an option of no resetting trak grip when restarting race also.
And of course it would be interesting to have less grip when someone get back in the track with dirty tyres, or when someone crash and lets a bit of oil in the track (OK, we will need first more realistic damage and more flag types, but dreaming is free).

Quote from [HUN] Wertigo :Pit crew also could make the game more realistic. See attachement

I don't see that so important. I would like more a group of server options... For example: Allow to change 1,2 or 4 tyres at the same time, allow to refuel and change tyres at the same time or force to do it separately...

Pit crew would be good if you could hit them with your car (brake too late, hurt someone and lose some time in your stop due to the lack of people... ), maybe if you stop too early or too late they should run to your car and you lose time... But if they are only graphics I dont wan't them.

Quote from CodieMorgan :+ Serverside AI Pacecar could be designated, and AI should follow if Pacelaps are coded in on yellow flags/rolling starts (if applicable, or when this is applicable) - But whould also respect Human vehicle positions online ... if you get what I mean! This would also free up an additional racer slot , and having to manually drive pacecars wouldn't be forced. But as an optional item!

+1 Very good idea in my opinion

Quote from VTiRoj :It would be cool if the AI said

:-)
Good Race
Good Pass

when it was appropiate in a race, adds to the realism.

How could a text floating in the sky add to the realism?

Quote from XCNuse :Sure you do.

Maps: Get a GPS.
Tire temps: Get a laser temperature detector, I have one.
Suspension damage: Go to a local car shop and, or stick your head under your car to look for any broken parts.
Text messages: Got a phone?

Then if you push shift+f your car should be slightly lighter

I don't understand... In my car I don't have maps, no times, no tyre temps or suspension damages... Only me and my car. Maybe somebody talking me in the radio, but no text messages
Force "shift+f" mode as server option

I think it could be the ideal complement to the forced cockpit view.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :I'd haffto agree with Becky on that, The STCC has about 20 drivers to each race, and in most races, all of the drivers have finished, bar a few rolls, and miscalculations in fuel. Most public races have no problems with collisions, and in Patch X, the collisions are actually improved. Maybe you Spaniards have more lag problems, but I'm in Canadialand, and get about 170 ms ping to the STCC and CTRA servers, and I have no issues with becoming a RB4-oplane.

Hmmm... Maybe race length (we are doing 60-70 min races) and/or ctrl+p (we have it prohibited) could explain it in part

Yes, I know
Patience... I'm trying to upload it in another place... Hope it works

Quote from AndroidXP :@-M-: Maybe a replay showing how you smoothly drive into a wall (a regular wall, not a red-white barrier) and it violently bouncing you back could help me understand what you mean.

One player mode, max speed 13km/h.

I tried to make a longer vid with more examples but my pc seems not want to run Movie Maker

Edit: WTF... It was a bit longer...

Quote from AndroidXP :You're involving too much imagination. When you "smoothly" touch a wall you don't bounce back...

Maybe you don't... I do

P.S.: Try SO box line... There is a shorcut between pits and road. Try to touch (as smoothly as you can) that curb and not to fly...

Quote from Nargaal :Do you have a special spanish version of LFS, or what?
You dont fly far away if another racer bumps into you, youre just exaggerating.

Imagine a 32 car race... Imagine one of the first cars touching smoothly a wall... Now imagine this car bouncing back and a chain reaction. If you have luck you will be able to see a wonderful massive spectacle of aerobatics.

I'm not an expert but I think that it would be easy to fit... 180º turn to sky texture and maybe some work with shades. Unnecesary wait to S3 I think.
¿Where is the East?

Hi all, I didn't found any thread talking about this... I hope it is the correct place to comment that

¿Someone else noticed that sun appears to hide in the same place it appears? I mean, in Fern Bay for example, at "sunset" and "dawn" the sky is brighter in the same zone... OK, circuits aren't real, but...

It reminds me a Simpsons episode

Quote from danowat :Tyres are already warmed up when you start (blue and temp dependent on compound) , leave it still for 10mins and you will see they cool down to 30DEGC (black in colour)

Exactly, tyres are already warmed up, but... IRL if I warm up my tires I can choose their temp: a thermostat is cheap, useful and easy to use
I think we should choose the temp we want in our tyres (and not only in drag races) or start with them at 30ºC.

Quote from Woz :Pointless. Big big -1.

Everyone will use the best settings online because they will be forced to so they can compete. Its like the old S1 BL1 track where you had to go wide and off the track where there was still road surface to keep the speed through the S because everyone else did.

The end result will be as we have now in that you can only add restrictions because everyone will use the fastest setting, it will just mean the cars baseline is slighty better.

I think restrictions can be limited in the server... "Full power" option will not be available in all servers, or will it?

Quote from VTiRoj :You mean as well as adding weight, we can decrease it too?

I like this idea, it could be added to leagues that losers can lose weight while winners gain it

Yes, but I was thinking more in other tipe of races... A league of 900Kg GTRs for example, the same to all, not only for some racers. But of course it could be used as you say, too.

The only problem is, I think, we shouldn't be able to choose the "position" of weight we decrease...
Negative "handicaps"?
-M-
S3 licensed
Well, I know if they are negative they aren't handicaps really but...

For example all GTRs have 490Cv and more than 1100Kg.
IRL cars usually have more power and less weight and the engineers make restrictions in the engine and add weight to make the car legal... You design a 900Kg and 550Cv car and then you can adjust the air intake to stand under 500Cv and add some weight to be over 1100Kg... But in some races you can use your car at its full potential

So why not be able to use (not in hotlap mode of course) LFS cars with weight reduction and air intake restriction not from 0% to 50%, but maybe from -25% to 50%?

I hope someone understands what I want to say... It's so difficult to say it in english
