Quote from Migz :+1, wtf are you doing to have to wipe it
so many times a day?!

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :Never heard of imaging a drive?

One of my projects has been developing some automated install tools so that we can more easily install our software (current install process is several *hours* and is all manual!). Only way to test it (properly) is wipe the machine and run it again...

Wiping only takes ~12 minutes so not the end of the world but obviously not really practical to install extra software on it (and as above - it's not and never will be on the network).

EDIT - For reference, I've improved alot of the installers and added some scripts to call all the right software in a silent mode, and to copy pre-configured preferences in etc. Now takes less than 30 minutes with only a few manual steps (i.e. you can't screw it up!).

EDIT2 - And yes, I'm aware making a single image of a complete install and re-using it would be a lot quicker and easier to setup but it's not a route I wanted to use (difficult to handle upgrades, doesn't work if we change machines etc).
Not true sir, a lot of imaging software allows for hardware merging. Just as you get with "normal" backup software. So if you change hardware you can merge the backed up system state with the actual hardware on the device and crack on as you were.

It was something Backup Exec was brilliant for and now everyone and their dog is doing it. Saves a lot of ballache as before you had to restore to identical hardware. IIRC, Norton Ghost has good merging features.

But if it only takes you 12 minutes to flatten the machine, probably no point.
finally did clean up my mess.
looks much better

Cute wheel.
i know i know.
but G27 or something similar is kinda expensive, also i rarely ever use this one atm...so no reason to get a better one right now
High five Boosted! I've got the same wheel! How long do you have it? Mine is holding up quite nicely for 5 years now

Same! Best wheel ever.
Still planning to re-position the LEDs, altough they are fine there, doesn't give out a massive light and makes it less stressful to look at the monitors. And yes, that's a 17" CRT waiting to be upgraded with another 22"

It's dirty but currently fine for daily browsing and gaming.

Thank you.
A little crowded for me, but nice. I'm planning to get that case as well.

I think next time I move I'll try to do something about all the wires under my desk - it's not as bad as it used to be but it should be so much better.
I can't believe you still have those same three desktop pics since all those years now! Haha!
