It's punk at least, IIRC.
I am not a clever one when it comes to knowing what bands are in what categories, but I quite much enjoy Offsping if I understand the category correct

I haven't seen a single punk rock band in this thread yet, only commercialized bands that range from crap to being at least bearable.

If you wan't good punk rock, take the ramones and the sex pistols.

I always go back to Rancid.
Recently I've been listening to the Dropkick Murphys quite a bit, and also Whitmore.

I do like older stuff as well...Ramones, Pistols, Cockney Rejects, Sham 69 etc

The Ramones... Anti-Flag's pretty good too... but still not as good as Ramones.

nah, *mainstream punk* has always been pretty rubbish (The Sex Pistols certainly didn't 'invent' it - they were really nothing more than a boyband put together and styled by Malcolm McLaren). If you look at more underground bands it's still going strong and there's some great stuff out there.

Agree with R.A., they are pretty good, but last album was weak, if not weakest.

But my favourite only-punk band are Offspring and Hives.

Yeah rise against are slowly getting more mainstream/over produced in the studio, theyve changed the guitarist again too, seems to end up some ex pop-punk band member. hero of war was a decent song on the album though, tim kept his bluntness in the lyrics, but still had to think to get the idea of it.

Also I find it odd how many of the punk bands in the UK who identified themselves as 'socialist' came from some of the more upmarket parts of London.

However, you shouldn't be a 'music snob' and simply hate music because it was released by a big label and is popular, you should like music because it sounds nice, not because of the way it reached your ears, I despise people who go on about how "they liked stuff before it was popular", and make frequent use of the annoying term 'indie'.

well, iTunes considers Rise Against Punk Rock. I also listen to Breaking Benjamin, and iTunes considers that just rock. How about Bullet For My Valentine
