What To Do About A Guy Who Thinks He's Computer Leet(When He Really Isnt)?
Bassicly theres a guy in my year at school, who keeps saying he's immesnly good with computers.

I.e. Saying he can hack my computer from his, he can create viruses to take down the school system and just saying general hacking sh*t.

But i started to think he was full of Sh*t when he tried to create a virus in notepad which access's something on the C drive of the computer at school called "bat.exe" which then causes your computer to crash and delete all your data. It didnt do anything except make a nice looking error

Then today he started saying that he was going to hack my new computer and corrupt one of the hard drives.

By going to the place where i bought it, asking one of his friends for the "public domain ip" of my computer, then going home and hacking it via that. Now im pretty sure that by that he means my External I.P And iirc you cant hack it using that (Heck all the forum mod's here can see our external ip's and none of us are being hacked)

He then said he was going to virus my computer via msn by sending me something which doesnt allow me to decline it.

I started thinking perhaps he would be able to........ until he asked the specs of my computer, ill tell you exactly how he asked some of the questions:

1. How much ram does your processor have?
2. How much ram does your hard drive have?
3. Is your computer quad core or dual core? I answer, at which point he says: Oh so its got 4 hard drives? Nice

He asked me a few others but they werent as stupid as these so i couldnt remember them.

But i remember telling him i had two graphics cards, he then says, "i have 5" (which i thought was an absolute pisstake), then he tells me that they're in his laptop( more of a pisstake..).

So id just like to know what i can do just to shut him up and prove to him he knows f*** all about computers and creating viruses?

Also feel free to share any simuler stories.

You shouldn't care..... that's what you should do.
Punch him.
lol, what a noobcake.

You'd better ignore him.
#5 - Migz
I could try to ignore him but he's always coming over and always talking and just hard to ignore really.

I could also not care but its not just me he says these things to, its other people i know too. Causing them to poo their paints thinking their computer is going to blow up when they connect to the internet.

Quote from The General Lee :Punch him.

I would really like to do that, but he's alot bigger then me.
I could get killed if i did that!

:ices_rofl
Your friend is clearly an idiot.
Don't listen to him.
Best thing would be to ;

A) ignore it,

B) Tell him that Quad core doesnt have anything to do with laptops, and that 5 graphics cards is stupendously not believable.

Edit:
(Beaten 7 times)

C) Give him a PC guide.
For the second time today I will sugest.........NAPALM :hbomb:

Sure it's a bit extreme, but it will get the message across.

Challenge him (in front of people) to hack your computer.

Watch as he fails.
Please kick this person in the nuts as hard as you can. So he can never reproduce people as stupid as himself.

This guy obviously has no clue what so ever about computers so I wouldn't worry about it. I say give him your IP. You wouldn't want him going to where you bought it and asking them.......ROFLMFAO!

No really here is my real IP. Go ahead and give this to him and tell him to have a ball lol. 74.36.46.192

hahahahaha i just can't stop laughing

Yeah after hearing his questions and what he said after i answered him ive worked out he isnt computer hardware smart

Perhaps someone has something i could say to turn it around, perhaps make him look like a proper idiot or make him quiver in his boots about being worried his computer will blow up when HE turns it on.

Thats a great idea but i can already guess he'll blame it on the computer not working properly.

Problem sorted! Nah i wont do that, im not that mean, but its a good idea
Lol, thats soo wierd, theres this guy at college who is basically the same

"o i took down the whole 250 computers at my old school", everyones like, well i think u can imagine
Reminds me of my friend, who once "Hacked" into my computer, and saw my "My Documents".

Unfortunately at the time he said he did it.

A) My PC Was off.
B) My PC was on the floor, with no hard drive in it, whilst i put a new one in.
C) His computer isnt connected to the internet / network.
D) He is not computer aware at all.

Yes but sometimes people actually have done it...

A dude at work the other day asked what monitor I have, and I told him about each of the three and I could just see the "oh yeah 3 monitors what BS" story.

Plus academic networks aren't always amazing (i.e. when, using nothing but explorer, I got access to all the test results / marks files / "concerns slips" (i.e. - xxxx is suspected to be pregnant, yyyy is cutting herself etc...)

But yeah everywhere has a douche like this. I've heard the "i will hack you from your IP" story - Either tell them the real one, or just use 127.0.0.1

Hint: get them to a remote place, where the world hacking championships are tacking place, then NAPALM :hbomb:
If your school or local libary has the book "Computers for dummies". Get it out so that it is very visible, turn to a random page, and ask him a question from it.

Sorted.
Reminds of that one guy in my old school, he had a sort of L33t period too, but in contrast to this guy he actually had acces to some hacker tools, for example he installed keylogger on three library computers and went bollocks with all the passwords he got in just one day. And got beaten up because he told everyone about it (he bought something from someones amazon account etc.):chairfall

In fact I shall turn this thread into Jakg story-telling time...

There was the time I found out how to bypass the security policy (log-on, then as it does it unplug the network cable - instant tempory profile, secrete LFS on the HDD, keep some shortcuts on your pen-drive - instant LAN-win),

There was the time I found a bug (the permanent record one) and then told the teachers about it, and one of the bloody teachers tried to get my suspended for it.

There was the time I managed to get my way into the Library computer (i.e. the main one), which, even though write access has been disabled over the network to, and the main PC is locked down so that you shouldn't be able to access the C:/ drive, I found a picture of my friend called "JOHN SMELLS" and then a manga picture of a witch on a broom called the name of his girlfriend

There was the time that I wrote an application in BASIC to shut-down the lead IT dudes PC - he used to boast his network was totally locked down, and I used to test said theory. He used to snoop on my pendrive over the network when it was plugged in, so I wrote "HackTool.exe". He got owned.

There was the time that the new IT tech guy came, he also thought that no-one could get around his network restrictions. I did

Eventually got put in prison for being a pedo though...

We are forced to sign an "internet agreement" at School which says we will be good - in my last 3 years I have broken each and EVERY one of the 50 odd rules

Also, my laptop is setup using teacher-proxy settings so theres virtually 0 filtering

EDIT - I'm easily the Geekiest person in my School (although a certain person who's sort of an ex-UKCT'er (what an odd co-incidence, I know!) at my School is pretty handy...), but at the School down the road theres a kid who setup his own Proxy (he's a database / web sort of guy), and then after everyone found out he started to log all the passwords to domains such as Bebo and Facebook
I'd tell him to go ahead!!! He should stop talking, he should show what he can do.
Same in here, but instead of pc's is cars, and a little bit of PC's...

He says arab drift rocks

I could probably think up of a very easy and simple question he would get wrong, but it would be funny for him to see the book out and get a question wrong

This island is only 9x4 miles. Theres nowhere remote here

Our system has no holes in at all although i have found one, you cant do much with it. I can get into the hard drive of each computer by just creating a new shortcut and pointing it to "C://" then i can go through the computers files, cant put anything in, or delete anything, i can copy things though, and i managed to find a little programme that lets you draw on your screen in the computers. Its awesome fun

And ive decided to just tell him to go ahead and hack my computer, if i do get hacked ill find where you live and hunt you down.

Oh the things me and a few mates used to be able to do to the piss poor computer systems at school Basically our whole school was on one big (and crap) network. Every pupil had their own login and U drive on the network which was pretty much a dumbed down version of a my documents folder. These were only accesible by the user and teacher moderators who would periodically check what was in there. All the computers had a My Computer option but all there was in there is the A, D and U drive. No C drive. But, the tech guys who set it up failed to disable the run... option in the start menu. All we had to do was type C:/ and that was it we were in! The were so many folders in there, with it all being on a network. After a few times searching we managed to find some interesting applications. We discovered something that would allow us to 'test' the resource centre (library) security warning systems over the network. The alarm was kind of like the alarms on the doors at big shops that go off very loudly if someone tries to steal something. It was kind of silly in a way but with the click of a button we could set it off. We used to sit in a quiet corner of the resource centre on one of the older computers that not many people used (everyone wanted to be on the totally cool mega dude new at the time pentium 2 computers that were so fast) we were using an old 486, 66mhz cpu, 8mb ram. Shit basically, but we had all the network figured out. So there we would sit, waiting for someone like one of the older, well known bullies to come in and then just as they leave again, press enter. bang! alarms, teachers shouting, bag searches, the lot!

After 2 years of college (it is now 1997!) we discovered my favouritist ever bit of all. All teachers had their own email through the network so that they could access it on any pc in the school. We managed to navigate our way through many folders and subfolders into a database. In there, were folders that were all named in 2 or 3 letters, teachers initials! No protection, open folder, read internal emails! Thats how we wreaked absolute havoc with one teacher, who was a complete kretin might i add. He joined the school as a business studies teacher, and was the boyfriend of one of the female french teachers at the time. After about a year, they broke up, and she eventually started a relationship with a maths teacher. Business studies teacher said he was fine with it and didnt care but he was over heard slagging off his ex (who was a nice teacher, and fit as well!) So we thought, payback! We sent an email to him from her email, saying that she 'needed to talk' and to meet him in the quiet little pub on the high street at about 7pm. We sent it, he fell for it (we chose that pub as it is opposite the park where we sat and watched) We saw him leave about 10.00 staggering everywhere as he had obviously drowned his sorrows realising that she was never gonna turn up. We had business studies first lesson the next day. He turned up 10 minutes late, unshaven, and very grumpy indeed. Because we knew how, we wound him and wound him up all lesson so he was at boiling point by the end of the lesson. He went off at the end to go and cover another class and it happened, the cute french teacher who 'stood him up' was coming the other way down the corridoor. He absolutely let rip at her, swearing, calling her a slag, he even went to take a swing for her at one point but luckily one of the tough nut top year lads who was also on the rugby team was in the right place at the right time and planted an epic right hook square on his chin and it knocked him clean out cold, and sleep! Once he came round as he was hauled before the head master, told to get out of the school and get his act together, and the 5th year boy was kind of told off for hitting a teacher but thanked for saving another teacher at the same time. He came back to teach about a month later but left for good soon after. In hindsight it was a cruel thing to do but when your'e 13 most teachers are a mortal enemy.

Another memorable thing we managed to do discover and access was the now defunct network messaging program called winpopup (think msn but very much more basic) Whats more, we soon discovered that after a bit of modification, you could send files via this messenger service, causing the file, or image to popup on the screen, or more importantly, screens of the pc you had sent it to. only the engineers and some IT teachers were supposed to be able to use this. So we got the most pornographic image that we could get. Our mates big brother downloaded some at home and we brought it in on floppy disks. we logged in as one of the gobby little 1st year kids, dragged the file into his U drive, loaded it into the network from there, sent it via winpopup to EVERY computer in the entire school. We then managed to crash the whole network, causing everything to freeze, and leaving this porn picture on every computer until the it guys could fix it. In the end they turned the power off to kill all the computers!

that might just do the trick....
Or so no one gets harmed.... EMP
Well when I was in highschool my mates and I had a class mate (a girl) REALLY annoying, she always talked about shit things, really boring, and one day she came like always "What are we talking about?" and one of my mates really irritated said "You don't care, why do you always come and ask, we are not talking to you, go away"... It's nothing like this but you can do what my mate did, piss him off!.

"We dont care! Ha-Ha!"
I did manage to haxxor into a Y8 Latin markbook the other day, tho thats cos our network is absolutely shit, not cos I iz gd h4xxor.
