my specs.......

I think LFS is the only game where people get in a pissing contest as to who can play the game the best with the SLOWEST computer xD

A while back, I was between PC's and just had a shitty desktop. Played LFS on a Pentium 3 933MHZ and 256MB RAM. I was lucky to get 30fps just screwing around on my own with Tweak lol, but hey... It was fairly playable.

I would rather keep LFS the way it is and NOT allow modding. Allowing mods online are always a pain in the ass(talking about other games that allow mods); not everyone has the same mods. Like rigs of rods; theres SO many mods for that game its not even funny. You can use these mods online, but if someone else doesnt have the mod, or you don't have someone else's mod; you or they are invisible, then online is completely useless. Or Microsoft Flight Simulator; if you don't have the person's mod, you can still see them. It just substitutes the mod for something you already have, usually something not even close to the plane really is. I got really tired of it substituting ALL the planes I didn't have with only the aircraft carrier...

Its too late though, people have already made car mods for LFS. They're illegal to use, but people are using them anyway. If those mods were made legal, I would probably stop playing LFS. Im extremely picky about mods anyways; if I download a mod for any game, it has to at LEAST be as good quality as the game's original content... We don't need to ruin LFS with a bunch of low quality, junk mods...

My old Macbook had similar specs, except the processor was a 2.4GHZ C2D; still had 2GB RAM and X3100.

In order to make LFS playable, I had to turn everything down and use 1024x768 resolution. That was just enough to keep it in 20-40FPS range. The integrated graphics is your problem; its just barely enough to play LFS as we see it today. Back with patch V or so you probably wouldn't have much of a problem.

I've played LFS on a Pentium 3 1GHZ with 512MB RAM and a 16mb Voodoo 3d video card and got a good 15-25 FPS. lol It wasn't my main computer at the time, I just wanted to see what could run LFS.

I would never ever have that as a car.
Even a 2.0 I4 can make that nowadays.

You laugh at our big engines with no power, we laugh at your little engines with no torque.

A crown vic in LFS would be awesome, Id play it alot more often. Would make it more interesting too. Id like to see if anyone outside America knows how to handle a 4000+ pound car.

Tomorrow's Friday
I'm sure it comes tomorrow!

Considering that for once I actually have a Friday off, that would be swell!

But we will just have to wait and see

Quote from Anarchi-H :I'm not even that bothered about the Scirocco tbh. It's just a shame to see the devs get bashings in threads like this when it could have been avoided by properly managing communication.

What communication? Sure, they said it would be delayed.. That was 4 months ago.. So what the hell is going on? The only thing that they have told us since they delayed the Scirocco/Scawen moved was that we're mentally ill... Where I work if you called a customer mentally ill; you better enjoy your last moments of work...

I really don't care about the Scirocco. I have been playing the crap out of TDU, that game never gets old. Theres more than enough cars to keep you busy, and I know if its not already released, theres a Scirocco mod for it. It has features LFS will probably never have at this rate, and their devs haven't publicly called their customers names.

I tried this on a cruise server last night. It's not that bad...

It changes gears alot, mainly when you don't want it to. Normally if I get to a curvy part of a cruise layout, I just stick it in 3rd or 4th and leave it there. This just shifts up and down too much, and you kind of lose speed from it.

Also the low end power on the LFS cars sucks; giving it a tap on the gas and shifting around 3500RPM like normal driving just doesn't move the car as fast I think it it actually would in real life; whether the game and real car is a stick or automatic. Most of the cars in the game I got to plant my foot down some to get some normal acceleration out of it.

Or maybe im just used to big, torquey, american V8s and not little 4 bangers.

I play LFS on both my machines. These pictures are from yesterday when I got the laptop; unfortunately I am STILL waiting for my G25 to come in so don't mind the crappy wheels.

Desktop:
Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHZ
2GB Kensington 667MHZ
160GB HD
8600GTS Superclocked 512MB
Windows XP Home- It looks good and stays above 45FPS all the time, even under full grid(its generally up around 90-120FPS but sometimes it drops).

Laptop:
HP DV6500T 16"
Intel C2D T7250 2.0GHZ
4GB RAM(not sure what speed)
140GB HD
8400M GS 128MB Dedicated, but it uses up to 1gb if it really needs to
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit- It runs as good as my desktop, just stays around something more like 60-80FPS.

I'll clean up the wires and everything when my G25 comes in, don't feel like doing it now lol. http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn ... 14941900b0d7e8b4a7261.jpg

Beem3r; I thought about getting a GTX260 for my next box, how do you like it? My biggest concern is do you think it would be too big for the case in my picture? lol I reuse my cases...

Quote from meicalnissyen :THANKS FOR THE REPLIES!!!
this "autoclutch... how does that work??
Like I said, from the controls screen I can choose auto or sequential
on clutch I can choose axis which does nothing or pick a button

with some cars not the xfg I have noticed you can shift while you lift, at times

is there a way to tie the clutch to the paddle??

You can use the paddle as a clutch, but not like an axis. Autoclutch is just what it sounds like, you don't have to manually do it yourself. Pick sequential shifting if you still want to manually shift but you do not have a separate shifter. I still use buttons on the wheel to shift, but I took a broken wheel where the pedals still worked, and hooked it up so I can use a pedal(axis) for a clutch. It surely makes the game more fun, if you don't have a spare wheel do what I did and find a cheap one at a flea market. I paid $5 for mine.

Diesel fuel burns much slower than gasoline, which is why they idle much lower, and don't rev anywhere near as high as a gas engine. I have made cars sound like diesels with tweak, which run say 300HP at 3000RPM and 650 TQ at 1200RPM. No car in LFS has a powerband like that, so good luck really getting a diesel sound until/unless the devs make a diesel for LFS.

Wow, like no one that posts in this thread is from the USA. Free E-cookies to whoever can guess what my car is, even though the second pic may give it away... Very big car, bigger than alot of the SUV's you see around here. Its got a 4.6L SOHC V8 that makes ~200HP and 270 lb/ft TQ. Not much HP for a V8, but I like cars with torque. It would cruise at highway speed even if it didn't have a gas pedal. It has every option in the book, the original premium audio still sounds awesome from 1995. Paid $1200, one owner(a grandma )

Quote from marzman :I'm looking for something new too. I think i wait for the C2D 6750 from Intel.

I now play on:
XP 2000+
Radeon 9500
256 Mb ram
380 GB diskspace.

The original system is 7 years old, but i've upgraded it a few times. I have 512 extra memory but it won't work in this pc, so i want something new LFS still runs ok on it though.

Ow, most important part: Formula™ Force EX

Better than this computer. This computer was mine before I got a new one. Took the parts out and put it in the new one, which fried and took all the good stuff with it.

Was a 1.4GHZ Celeron, 768MB RAM, GeForce 5200FX 128MB, 40GB HD. At the time, it was a pretty smokin' "budget" machine. Now its a piece of crap.

Quote from Chin Boy :I've been after a race frame for some time but space was a problem. After much head scratching I came up with a 2 part collapsable scheme where the chair folds under the wheel. It seems to work. If it doesn't collapse in a couple of weeks I will paint it in the FLR colours. (FPR are the team at the back of the grid if you havn't seen us out there).
Photo quality a bit poor but I only have a phone for digital photos.

Hah, thats awesome. I don't think id ever be serious enough to build a frame for a video game..

I never had any problems with my mac except when I first got it. Its an iBook G3. It would come up and everytime I would try to do something I got the spinning beachball. Then I got kernal panics on bootup, so I reloaded it and its fine.

Slickmod is your friend. Get the car to make about 1800+HP/TQ. Then tweak the setup a little until it does it anytime you stomp on it. I made a video of me doing it, if youtube will finally upload it.

I wish I would pay more attention to people's LFS World names...

These are just stupid decisions on joining n00b servers... When n00b 1 gets the inside line and everyone else is on the outside... then he starts getting on the gas and starts drifting to the outside. Then n00b #5 comes hauling anus around the corner and slams into everyone. Big crash, havent even made it around the first corner....

Or when you're going through S turns and that guy riding your back bumps you off the road... That happened on the Bronze server(can't remember the name but i KNOW you guys know what im talking about).

I think they do this on purpose. I bet if everyone would quit begging for the mods to release it, they will release it sooner.
