Quote from R.Kolz :IMO it´s more a problem of these drivers not finding eachother. It makes me think of this proposal again, as this described subject would be a kind of SR ( safety rating ), iRacers talk lots about - and obv. like a lot and see it a missing feature of LFS.

Well, with this filter I couldn't join to 90 percent of the servers for sure. I don't play for being first, not even to be fast but to drive as safe as possible keeping up with the other racers. The idea is nice but it should consider yellow ratio instead. That wouldn't filter out the slow but careful people.

About the crashers: that's why I really don't approve of the destruction derby server. It's practically a crasher factory even if I try to tell myself that crashers will have their fun there and will leave "serious" servers/racers in peace.

The only thing I don't get that where are the people from the overpopulated NDR server? I read somewhere that "the TBO craze has calmed down but it was after a whole weekend without TBO server when they had some event IIRC. Now I see SR's FOX server being very popular but can't there be a fixed server with at least the three TBOs and all the tracks?
Is there really no need for road car races?

Since the "death" of CTRA road car racing seems to be dead. XFG-XRG is done for good (I'm not willing to even notice the demo servers - I've not paid for S2 to race with wreckers or anyway, the same track over and over again). NDR and SR - just to mention the biggest - used to have really nice and stunningly populated TBO servers but they've disappeared as well. Nowadays, if I exclude BL1, Demo, Drift, Oval, Drag and GTR+formula cars (I know, I'm picky ) it get NOTHING. Getting to the point: is there really NO need for road car race servers? Where are those people who were crying over CTRA's death?

Quote from dougie-lampkin :Slight bump, but click "lock" above the axes in the "axes/FFB" menu in LFS. It'll hold the calibration if you minimize/alt-tab LFS

I opened a thread for that recently but that doesn't work for me. LFS keeps unlocking the calibration every alt-tabbing and on every new start...

I just found this great app and I thank you for it It works really nice with my Eee 1000H via WLAN. And finally every car has a digital speedo this way

Quote from gigi91430ita :I have the same problem about the clutch, but I solved it using DxTweak 2, setting cluctch calibration as:
Min: -80; Center: 90; Max: 255.
I don't know any solutions about the wheel calibration, when I use LFS i set in Logitech Profier 720° of rotation, so there is a 1:1 mapping with the game and I never had problems. Try and tell us..

Thanks, I'ill check out the DXTweak utility.
Well it doesn't matter how much rotation I use it keeps unlocking. For some time I used "realistic" (profiler 720°, WTC 1), now I rather play with 900° and WTC 0 for all cars.
A strange addition: today I alt-tabbed from the game then back and the wheel calibration was off again... meaning the slightest move made the ingame wheel turn fully until I steered max left and max right. Strange
Calibration lock and clutch linearity problem

Hi,

Lately I noticed something weird. The physical/calibrated clutch axis and the ingame clutch axis (blue bar) aren't moving simultaniously. To be more precise: the calibration is all right as it moves from the min to the max values, then I step on the clutch pedal pushing it to max and as I release it slowly the blue bar won't move! Well at least for a certain point (about 80%), when it starts to move. I haven't found any clutch linearity slider and while it might be a shifting aid it really doesn't feel realistic.
My other problem is that LFS keeps forgetting about calibration lock. I calibrate it in unlock state, then click on lock and it's all right till I close the game but on the next run it's unlocked again. Is there any solution for this? (
I use a G25.) Thanks in advance.

Quote from jasonmatthews :Nice, so thats babyr and ctra 1 sorted, who's going to setup some single seaters?

It seems someone has taken over that server somehow as it currently works as a Singleseater 1 replica instead of Race 1... could you lock it to XFG and XRG please?

Quote from jasonmatthews :I have set up [SR] Race Server 2 to use some combos from CTRA 1 if anyone wants to race there. The tracks auto change and races should restart automatically aswell. If anyone wants to post the combos that used to be in ctra 1 I am more than happy to add them

Hm, only FBM is available. What did I do wrong?

EDIT: Although, thank goodness the OP doesn't t4lk in 1337 5p33k.

Wow, I wish I could see the irony there. As I see no one used l33t sp33k here, we are just disappointed as currently there's nothing that even can be considered an alternative to Race 1. Maybe you can understand that it's a bit weird that we bought a game and had great fun, now suddenly the servers disappeared and almost all we got for our favourite cars are one demo track and demo servers. There's no more "I have 30 minutes so I'll have some races on so6 or fe2" because there are practically no servers for that. Can I be the one who posts frowning smilies?

Same here. I played 99% of the time XFG or XRG on Race 1 but now there is nothing but BL1... and I'm not interested in GTR and Formula cars as I just bought a G25 and want to use the H-Shifter. If there is a server with a fine set, it's a drift server. So please, please make an XFG/XRG (or even RB4/FXO/XRT) server for those who want some fine races with slower cars! I'd host one myself but I couldn't leave my comp all day long for a dedicated server and I'm pretty much an occasional driver.

Quote from Christopher Raemisch :[..]

Oh, I had no idea... well, until this day I haven't even known about them.
Anyway what happened it's happened. First of all it would be a good idea to look for - or make - some servers that offer the same combos that CTRA did. Or at least, have some servers with the former CTRA racers. Well if that's possible...

Quote from Becky Rose :CTRA isn't dead guys, before Christmas I started work on the 4th installment of the server management concept.

I'm a bit relieved to hear that... for non-pro and more importantly occasional "sunday drivers" like me Race 1 and UF-BR was almost the only possibility. I'm really sad that this opportunity has gone now as I bough my G25 three weeks ago But let's hope the best!

CTRA certainly MUSTN'T die. LFS will survive but S1 drivers are pretty much screwed now. Race 1-2 and UF-BR have no real alternatives as I see unless you're willing to race on demo servers. I have absolutely no interest in Formula cars and don't like the sequential shifter on the GTR class - so please, please at least someone just temporarily make a decent server for those who are tired of BL1 but still would like to drive the XFG and XRG...

Quote from Bandit77 :You really have to find out who has to be addressed (LFS or CTRA) first, because if you complain in the "wrong" section, you might upset the folks there.

I was looking for a forum link or an email address or anything on raceauthority.com for like half an hour but couldn't find anything...

Well, I think I wasn't clear enough. Race ends and I know I have 90 secs. I can go to the bathroom and get back in less than a minute, so I take no ones place and get back to the restart comfortably. The problem is when too much people is impatient and they vote a restart in 15 secs. A simple "is-the-driver-responding" check would eliminate the starting crashes because of "stuck" cars. And it's not just only for CTRA, all the servers should have this as its nothing to program and it's only a keypress for everyone.
Acknowledging restart

I mainly play on CTRA servers and sometimes it's really annoying when people don't wait for the autorestart and vote it earlier leading to people who went to take a leak being stuck on the grid. It would be a really simple thing that when restart time comes, you'd just have to click and "OK" button in 15 secs and if you failed to do that it would make you spectate.
You could say "if you leave the chair, press shift+s" but
1) most people still won't
2) rejoining after puts you on the last position
3) you can't be sure you'll even can rejoin in the rush hours.

Is this possible? Or it's a bad idea?

Quote from Zen321 :A good comparison my father gave me some years ago is that for instance, without powersteering, it'd be a pain to turn the steering wheel of an old mercedes when standing still (speed=0), if you are bodybuilded like Schwarzenegger! An averagely muscular person would probably not even be able to steer without moving and powersteering

Hehe, I remember when I was like six, I tried to turn the wheel in my grandfather's car and it wouldn't move

Well, for me realism is the most important. I don't want to be first, fastest - it's just hell of fun to drive around with other people and doing it as safe as possible. Well, you could say what do I care how realistic is the driving of the FXR when I never have driven and you'd have a point - but I'd like to feel what a real driver would feel. Nevertheless, I think I'm going along NightShift's idea - just tweak the FFB a bit car by car to make them a bit more steerable. Thanks for the replies to everyone

Quote from pjuniorbra :When I opened this topic, not as I thought it would be controversial and generate many controvesias, but this is very good, since everyone is discussing the best way to drive in LFS, I use the mouse, but I do not have wheel adapted to it.
But no one informed me how to change the strength to 350% and sets them in the game (cfg.text)

Excuse my English

I don't think that's possible without hacking deeper into the game. LFS wiki says the /ff command used in scripts has a range of 0-200 which is the same you can adjust in the game with sliders.

Quote from obsolum :Powersteering helps a lot. I assume that the FXR doesn't have powersteering. I would hate to drive a car with slicks that wide without power steering. It's a serious workout So yes, if they were real cars the FXR would feel a lot heavier than the XFG or the other road cars.

I tend to lower the FFB strength in the game a bit when I switch to GTR cars. Not so much that they feel like the road cars, but enough so that it's still possible to catch a slide, correct a spin etc... I don't think there's any real fixed value here, it all comes down to personal preference. Fiddle around with it and find a setting that seems realistic to you and suits you.

So that means LFS already counts in the FFB simulation if the car has powersteering or not? If that's the situation, then I simply have to get used to it Or maybe lower it by 5% for the GTR cars to have at least a chance against others

Quote from Zen321 :Good idea !

I'd say, let's assume that most of the road cars in LFS have powersteering except the UF1 (old car) and the RAC (concept car).
Usually, the three main aspects are :
- Weight : the heavier, the harder it will be to turn.
- Tires : the softer, the heavier the steering will be.
- Powersteering or not : This is very important, and cars without powersteering will seem a lot heavier than with

And that's when my lack of experience comes: does powersteering just help a bit so the difference between a car with wide tyres and one with normal (like comparing the FXR to the RB4) is still noticable or does it feel completely the same? In other words: should the FXR feel SO much heavier than the XFG?
