Quote from Pelle79 :Regarding VR, none of you guys here seem to understand how VR works. First of all, LFS can't adjust Quest 2 refresh rate. I must select refresh rate in the Oculus app, prior to connecting Quest 2 via link cable. Also, in VR mode, LFS greyes out vsync and frame limiter options.

Quote from rane_nbg :We do understand well how it works Smile It is pretty much the same as any other monitor.

I think the point Pelle is trying to make with this statement is that once you start a VR session with a Quest 2, the headset's refresh rate cannot be changed without backing out of LFS (and the SteamVR connection) entirely. It's the same on the Pico 4 -- standalone headsets which connect to PCs via a video stream simply cannot (currently) change resolution and refresh rate variables on the fly, so there's no way for LFS to "take care" of the refresh rate, unless you are referring to something other than what I am understand as "letting LFS adjust the setting".

That force readout looks great! I mean, it looks very simple and barebones, but it's very welcome especially being as unobtrusive as it is. I've used a large graph via SimHub but that's quite a bit less elegant of a solution, although the force-over-time view of a graph has been helpful in diagnosing some odd force/suspension glitches of mods. I think ideally a toggle between showing instantaneous L/R force (as depicted) and a more comprehensive force/time graph would be present, but either's good.

Loving the mod so far. The steering ratio seems a bit low to me (especially with how much caster there is -- turning feels far too weighty yet numb) but I'm not certain what is realistic for these Kei cars. Gut just figured they wouldn't need so much wheel turn and force applied.

Other than that, I can't find any faults except maybe that the centre console has a few bits that seem a bit too shiny. I'm not even sure if they're visible outside of VR. Very nice mod!

Pretty fun! Looks and sounds good, handles beautifully. I do have to set my ingame FFB to about 70% what I normally do to prevent it from force clipping, and it's still pretty heavy which seems at odds with the fact that it has a 'cruise' setup, especially as default, particularly without ability to change caster (or am I blind? Just got back from a long break from LFS).

Pretty nice, although I make the following audio changes when driving it to reduce clipping:

-Exhaust volume to around 3
-Dump pipe to 1.6
-Wind to 0.6
-Skid to 0.7

It still clips a bit on Blackwood's straight but it's still much improved in that regard. I don't think it effects tone too much, either.

Stiffest steering I've ever experienced in an LFS road car.

There's "driftable" and then there's actual ice blocks as wheels.

Might as well mute the game because the audio does its best to wreck your eardrums -- most sliders are set to max without consideration for how it may negatively affect sound.

Sorry, but this is simply painful to drive in more ways than one, currently.

Immense fun to throw around the track. Super controllable when sliding, although this kills tyres in no time at all. Driving more carefully causes the fronts to go cold -- different composition or more even front brake bias might help? I'm not too great at racing setups etc.

Brakes seem perhaps unrealistically good, but I'm not complaining too hard there.

Mainly let down by the constant, unabashed audio clipping. I drop the exhaust volume down from 3 to 1 (maxing the turbo muffler, dropping the dump pipe volume, and slashing the wind noise to compensate) to save my ears.

I love this class of car, and this one is pretty fun to drive! However, there are a number of gaps in the geometry (between dash and hood, where you can see through to the hood's backside, plus the sides of the dash) and the brakes are by default far too strong -- over 600Nm/wheel is pretty much wasted and locks up the wheels too quickly.

Extra visual oddities are some odd bits on the shifter and gaps between the back shelf and rear windshield, but those aren't really visible unless in VR.

I also prefer the sound if the turbo volume is dropped to around 1.4 but that's personal preference -- it just gets a bit irritating to listen to after a while for me.

I'd also love to see some higher poly improvements and then it would be outstanding in my eyes!

It would be nice if VR Click could be used to rotate the view in garage like the left mouse button can, now.

Is there any consideration to quell review bombing in the public review forum? It seems as though everything's getting hit by 1-star ratings pretty quickly.

Unrelated to the update in particular, but I noticed today that I've run out of options to map functions to my wheel + button box. Since all of my wheel's buttons can now be mapped (thanks to 0.6W I believe), I have every CTRL- and Shift-F# setting doing custom input duty (mostly for things like replay and camera control, live FFB adjustment, and turn signals). Just putting it out there that I'd be in favour of extended control settings to allow direct controller binding of many of LFS's other functions, such as those with reserved keys.

An even more minor desire is to have finer granularity of FFB adjustment, as `/press less` and `/press more` make adjustments in steps of 5 which is a lot when I hover around a setting of 20 to get decent dynamic range in force effects.

Keep up the great work -- LFS development continues to impress!

The car handles mostly okay, but needs more forward brake bias to keep braking under control. Looks great, bummer popup headlights aren't supported (yet?)! No RHD is also a significant downside for this car in particular.

But the audio needs serious fixing! Clips horrendously, even when driving calmly. Having the power down over 3000RPM is 100% clipping.

I think I see what loopingz is saying. My wheel seems to want to "stick" in a position when driving at low speeds. Increasing caster helps a bit but it still feels funny. Makes casually roaming streets feel odd.

Also there are a bunch of tiny visual gaps all along the door windows and where the side mirrors attach -- for the latter I think rebuilding and simplifying the interior mesh of that triangular area would make sense. From outside there's also something odd going on with the door lock, as well as some gaps along the side mirror units.

Loving it! Only issue I see is that he headlights don't turn on when the 'flash' button is pressed.

Enjoying this for the most part. Bunch of small things though:

Default caster is pretty rough on FFB (pretty much instantly clipping when turning at all) but a personal setup fixes that (2-2.5 is good for me and my wheel).

The side mirrors' mounting arms clip into the body of the bus slightly.

The... buttons? dials? in the inner "center" button cluster which have the red/white "umbrella" pattern ("GEN" and "Undo Accident") look odd, with the red being on top of the rest or perhaps the white having backwards normals or something.

The "outer" button labels don't flip properly, only really obvious with the EPC label.

Minor clipping on the wipers where the lower/inner arms cross over the blades.

And the smallest issue of all: the head unit is smaller than real ones by maybe 30-40% -- there's no way I could fit a cassette in the loader. But this is only noticeable in VR I'm sure where depth perception and perception of scale exist.

But the driving itself is fine, and all of these things are varying degrees of minor.

Agreed, I up the brake force significantly in my setups.

For the most part it's fantastic graphically, but the rearview mirror sticks out the front of the windscreen a tad. Also the head unit's mapping seems to be off (or maybe the geometry is) particularly with the power button and volume knob. There are some tiny gaps in each of the door frames, but they're only visible while looking back from the front seats.

Audio clips a bit, mostly remedied with lowering exhaust volume to 3 and increasing cockpit muffling (around 0.9 maybe). Lowering off power volume helps some as well.

As another VR user, the main issue for personally is that pressing the 'virtual keyboard' button while a text field is selected does not pull up the keyboard (or toggle it back off, for that matter). Fixing that would be all I'd ask.

Having the virtual keyboard pop up every time you select a field would be unnecessary if you have a physical keyboard at hand, unless there were a toggle for it in the options.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but typically with rally a lighter wheel is preferred, isn't it? A caster angle nearing 8 is a bit rough then, as wheel torque often reaches 50% higher than typical cars with 5-6deg caster.

The sound is great, but it took me a bit to realise that the pit limiter was on since there's no dash indicator for it.

Other than those my main complaint is that I can't race AI with it on rallycross tracks since the default tyres are for road. It stomps all of the stock LFS cars which have AI for Blackwood's rally at least (especially since they're bugged and run out of fuel on lap 3 of 3) so maybe it would be best for me to wait for AI to be able to decide which tyres to use.

Quote from Kid222 :The "installed mods" was removed? I can't seem to find it now.

Aye, I was finding it useful as a chronological list of downloaded mods. Handy for reference while testing out a bunch if nothing else. Favourites list can sort of fulfill similar roles but I'm not going to fav everything I download as a reminder that I have, in fact, downloaded it.

I do understand that it was a bit odd as removing a mod from the "Installed list" wouldn't actually mean it isn't installed -- the files stay in the mods directory (which is a way I could keep track of things, although it's more troublesome in VR).

Not sure how difficult a Filter/Sort option would be for "Date Downloaded/Installed", but something like that may work well with the improved Mods list layout.

Quote from loopingz :
Still have a lot of difficulty showing virtual keyboard in VR in mod menu ...

+1 for this as well. I generally click on a field to type, then press the button to pull up the Virtual Keyboard, then remember it doesn't work so I have to hit Back and then VK and then select the field again... and then start typing. Probably wouldn't be such an issue if my rig's wireless keyboard didn't die recently.

The power is fun but it's a bit much for the available tyres to handle. Fees like it could keep up with GT cars except that it's capped at road supers so braking is quite the ordeal, not to mention launching or cornering.

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but there are some bits of wood veneer still visible. Left of dash and bottom of door card. Getting clipping with audio, which I mostly solved by reducing header/exhaust mix, gear volume, and wind/skid without changing the tone too much. Seating position seems quite far back compared to normal. Also some gaps around the doors My bad, it's just some shine on the rollcage making it look like I was seeing sky through the door.

No problems with the driving, however, and that's what really matters.

The doors have some gaps still, backwards normals around the window especially. The fact that this much power is set up with road normal tyres by default is a bit odd, but at least grippier tyres can be used. Dump valve is quite loud but otherwise this vehicle is a beast on the track!

Suspension feels a bit odd to me but I don't know enough about it to give any details or recommendations.

My only two complaints are that, visually, the steering wheel is perhaps a bit close to the dash (I feel as though my knuckles would smack into things when holding the wheel) and that on hard braking my wheel's FFB kicks around a bit. I wish I knew what caused the latter as I've seen it on a few mods so far! Just spikes of force wrenching the wheel one way or another.

Agreed, a FFB graph would be splendid especially when testing out mods. Can be very handy to tell if something's wrong with steering/suspension geometry, particularly as quite a few mods end up clipping on FFB at settings levels that are fine for all stock cars.

The interior is very detailed, but you can see straight through the side air vents to the road. Same with the control cluster above the rearview mirror.

The audio is clipping like crazy and the dump valve in particular is extremely loud.

The car handles pretty well, but a 6.7 caster might be a bit too much. Brakes are a bit easy to lock up.

Lots of potential.

Physics have improved significantly! However, 7.2 caster angle makes the wheel pretty heavy compared to most. Brakes feel a bit weak (1300Nm is where I have been putting my setups) and the new engine sound is clipping quite a bit.

Dashboard has a few oddities like the second gear display that's cut off on the right (the main one in the centre could be moved to the left a bit too; feels cramped against the tach) as well as indicators on the top and left side.

It's getting more fun to drive, though, that's for sure.

The main thing that sticks out to me is that the brakes (on all three default setups) seem to outclass the power of this car by a mile. It's always in danger of locking up and even at the end of Blackwood's straight just a light touch on the pedal is needed to reduce speed more than sufficiently.

Other than that, it seems like some normals may be backwards on the windshield wipers, as they're looking rather wiry from inside the car.

The car is coming along quite nicely, though!

Wonderful to drive. Looks like the pedals were moved at one point and the old pedal arms weren't removed, though. I can agree that the clutch can get a bit more toasty than I'm used to from other road cars but it's as you say - it's not as if there is a way to remedy that with a click of a button in the editor. At least not that I'm aware of.
