Hey all.
Im appealing to those who have used ebay a lot. I recently put a phone on ebay to sell (my first ever foray into ebay), and at the last few minutes of the auction the bids shot up from £50 to £800. Obviously this is a scam (and indeed the person who bid the highest wanted to buy the phone for his 'Nigerian brother', and had three user feedbacks all saying they were a scammer).

Being naive (stupid) I clearly could have done more to stop this happening, but thing is, now im going to get charged the sellers fee on this.

My questions (eventually) are:
1) When you send an invoice to a buyer, do they see any personal information about you? i.e. actual name, address etc)
(I havent sent them an invoice, I dont want to send them anything..apart from perhaps a steaming turd in an envelope)
2) What can I do to stop ebay charging me the fee (if anything)?
3) What are the best things to stop this happening in the future.

Actually just got it sorted. Phoned the hosting company again and it turns out they had blocked my IP address for some reason! Random, but sorted now.

Am hoping the more techy of you can help me with a wierd problem.

I cant access anything on the following ip address (http://195.12.48.50)
Basically its my web hosting company. They have another IP address (http://85.92.73.245/) and i can access sites on that no problem.

When I say access I mean I cant view the sites (times out) I cant ftp, I cant access them in any way.

I have converted to static IP address on my system, I have flushed DNS, I have changed to openDNS servers, checked firewall, checked for viruses, spyware etc, I have rebooted hundreds of times over the last week, and nothing....nothing works. I really dont know what else to do.

I contacted the hosting company (wiserhosting) but they didnt offer any useful suggestions.

Could my ISP (Virgin media) be blocking that IP address for some reason?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I saw someone else had written "I owned you",
what the hell does that mean? They seemed to be saying they thought they were better than someone else at something. Is that correct?

Was thinking of getting a custom built top spec system from pcspecialist.co.uk, like a quad core intel based system (i know lfs doesnt support multi cores (yet) but i use the system for video editing etc)
i know you pay more because they build it, but im a lazy lazy man, and i think they would build a stable system, and i think they are relatively cheap for what you get

anyway. i must control my envy of those who go on about how they get 15000FPS with 400AI on a screen the size of a small country whilst simaltaneously processing all the data from CERN etc etc...

Am considering upgrading the whole system frankly. Built it myself and its always been a bit buggy. The system does randomly crash sometimes, which seems to be caused by the DVD drive of all things, and when I start it i get a message before windows load saying 'cant find any disk'...not sure which disk it cant find....but windows loads fine.

Ive been playing for a few months now, and frankly the performance of my system is not what Id hoped. If ive got a grid of more than 10AI my FPS can drop to like single figures, and if i load an autocross setup with hundreds of objects, again were talking 6FPS which is just useless.
Where is the bottleneck in the following system, and with this system should I be expecting more?

processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 3800+ (2Ghz)
RAM: 1 GB RAM (DDR2 667MHz)

Graphics: ASUS x1300 Series (256MB Ram)

Screen: 19inch screen running at 1440x900

One thing i have realised is that my system may be underpowered. My power supply has a max output of like 300 watts and I think I need more to run everything. Maybe answering my own question, but could this be the cause of my woes?

Have been playing LFS for a few months now and loving it. I want to start creating my own setups but dont know where to start.
Ive downloaded various setups (i.e. the ones from team inferno site etc) but dont really understand how to tweak them to make them work for me.

Ive read the LFS manual and tried to get my head around all the technical stuff, but dont really have the time...or mental capacity to really get into the mechanics and engineering.

Basically..if i was going to tweak one thing from the default settings for instance, what would you recommend? What changes tend to make the most significance difference to lap times (driving ability aside

it seems to me that essentially its all about getting out of corners fast as this is where i seem to be continually overtaken, rather than straights so i guess gear ratio is important? (having said that i really have no idea what gear ratio means...i tend to randomly move the sliders left and right) ive played with trying to tailor fuel load to the number of laps in a race? Is that important?
Does track direction influence things as if your going round anticlockwise for instance your going to make more left turns than right...i think....

Any links to threads (i have looked honest would be great or links to other sites with simple to understand terminology would also be really useful.

I bought a Logitech DFP about 2 weeks ago. Was happily driving around tonight and suddenly the power cut and i cant get it back.

Anybody else had this happen to them? Is my only solution to return it and get a new one?

Being new to LFS I am extremely bad at making it around the tracks without staring most of the time at the barriers.

There are some corners that i find particularly hard and wondered whether there would be any value in being able to rewind (only when doing practice laps of course) your lap so that you can re-take a corner, rather than having to do another lap before you get to it again.

I am only suggesting this for practicing and of course the best way to learn is to race...against humans, but sometimes I would really like to be able to just go back and do a corner 10 times in a row just to really drum home a good racing line. I appreciate that i could turn the car around go back and take the corner again, but thats tedious and id may as well do another lap.

Would also be great If i could instantly analyse how i took a corner during the game, like analyse for speed but during the game rather than during replays.

Anyway, apologies if im going over old ground.

I use a wheel. Logitech Driving force pro.
The way ive been starting is to have the car in neutral and then rev away and then when the lights go green i put it in first and floor it.

I think perhaps im a bit of a sunday driver.... Would a better strategy be to have the car in gear but have the brakes on and when the lights go green take foot off brake...or release hand brake?
Perhaps im answering my own question and should shut up and go and try it rather than hassling people here. hmmmm!

New to LFS and have searched for threads about this but not found anything. Apologies if it has been discussed but if so a link to a discussion would be really useful.

Anyway. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get a fast start. Im only playing against AI at the mo, just so I dont cause carnage on any servers but always get really slow starts compared to the AI racers regardless of which car im using. Any setup hints, or general techniques I could use?
