Virtual axis (for those of us without a wheel)

After discovering i couldnt modify the button control rate or have part acceleration/brake with a script http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=23684
. I figured a better idea would be to have a virtual axis and assign 2 or maybe 3 buttons to varying levels of acceleration/brake. And i have tried assigning mouseY, its very difficult to control.
button control rate

Is there a command that i can assign to a button so that i can have different button control rates? 4.65 works great unless im using a really fast car or trying to stop where its bumpy. Driving the lx6 with cold tyres either involves going up a gear or doing a bunch of little burnouts as i try to get gradually on the power (works wayy beter with the slower cars). If i cant change the button control rate then is there a way to assign a button to say 70% acceleration?

I dont get email notifications to my old email or my new email (still). Ive checked the options and my junkmail filter. Does anyone else have this problem?

Whoa there's alot of encouragement to go s2 lol. Unfortunatly $58 aud is a bit much for me atm. So in a few days ill probably be s1 licenced and move onto s2 later on. s1 should be worth it just to avoid wreckers since i could always host my own server with the cars i want to race (would anyone join?). Thanks for the info everyone

Oh oh, a question. i know that s1 players cant play on s2 server (does anyone know for sure if this will change?) can s2 players play on s1 servers?

Is s1 licence worth it?

Ok ive finally had enough of people wrecking my car and spending ages looking for people that ARENT drifting the XRT, i havent gotten bored of blackwood yet tho. Now since im cheap i'll get an s1 licence (mrt thingy looks fun) but ive seen on lfs world there are hardly any s1 servers. Is it possible that s1 players can play on s2 servers if the s2 server has the cars and tracks that are in the s1 version?

Also how important is a wheel? I can manage high 1.24's with the XRT but it involves alot of really rapid clicking to get a (sort of) gradual throttle/brake application. Are the other cars as slidy?

I did all the demo ones and got pro in all of them except for xfg and xrg slalom, theyre impossible i tells ya! Its a great idea tho, just so that people can get an idea of how the cars handle in the game. Oh and if anyone has any tips for the slalom's i'd like to hear em

On the host configuration page it says the upload per car is 576b/s (6 pps). Would the data sent from one player to the host be much different than the data sent for one car from the host to another player? I was thinking that i would need 576bs x 11 which is less than my 8KB/s download speed. Supose the only way to findout for sure is wait till i get a full grid
required download bandwidth?

Is the required download bandwidth much smaller than the required upload bandwidth when i host a game? Im assuming since data for every player needs to be sent to every other player (11 cars 11 times over for full grid) compared to me only having to download information for one car for each player.. does this mean that my currently capped (for downloads only) conection 64/660kbs is ok?

Sorry if i doesnt make sense. I tried to explain it best as i could

lol i dont have alot of $ and new control arm bushes for my car are more important

and yeah i know the ai and the player wont drive the same path but the difference between them would be small compared to the distance between where the player actually drove and how everyone see's him/her about 100m away

lol yeah but this is a simulator and suposed to be as realistic as possible. there's no lag irl. Anyways slow ai wont be too bad if its in use for about 1/2 a second.

bleh.. i think its a good idea atleast

for you maybe but ill routinely encounter 1 or 2 ppl on a demo server that like to spontaneously apear inside me

ajp71.. why would it be so hard?

AI takes over when people lag/ teleport

Howbout when people randomly disapear or continue driving straight on your pc, when actually they are going around a turn the cars become ai controlled? After the lag spike they should reapear close to (hopefully) where the ai controlled version is. This would be much better than reapearing out of nowhere or from a barrier 50m away. Ofcourse some people would have slower/ faster ai's than others so they would see things differently. but i doubt the difference would be huge over the perioud of one second. If you want to get real picky you could get the server to do the ai (so its the same for everyone) but it wont work too good for the person that actually has the conection problem :P

...too bad it would be way weird when ppl just goof around in the carpark

ohh ohh also it should have 'ai controlled' above the car and we should keep the original lag counter that shows were they were when the conection went stupid.

ok i understand that the ai learns from each car/setup/track combination but i want to know if a particular ai used set A and then used set B will it drive differently on set B than if it did not use set A? or does it use what it learned with set A ONLY with set A?

..yeah odd question but im bored
AI's learn for each setup?

Does the ai cars learn from each setup individually or will they drive differently/faster on a new setup if they have used a different setup before..

also is it possible to reset them to how they are when lfs is first installed?
