The online racing simulator
AI takes over when people lag/ teleport
Howbout when people randomly disapear or continue driving straight on your pc, when actually they are going around a turn the cars become ai controlled? After the lag spike they should reapear close to (hopefully) where the ai controlled version is. This would be much better than reapearing out of nowhere or from a barrier 50m away. Ofcourse some people would have slower/ faster ai's than others so they would see things differently. but i doubt the difference would be huge over the perioud of one second. If you want to get real picky you could get the server to do the ai (so its the same for everyone) but it wont work too good for the person that actually has the conection problem :P

...too bad it would be way weird when ppl just goof around in the carpark

ohh ohh also it should have 'ai controlled' above the car and we should keep the original lag counter that shows were they were when the conection went stupid.

No. connection problems are like car failures. Just a part of racing and anything can happen, tough.
its been discussed before

in a quite lengthy thread i may say
car failures that result in you and your oponent melting together and then shooting off into outerspace

xcnuse can i have linky to thread? i didnt find it when i searched
lol i would but i have absolutely no idea what to search for hahahah, i figured that would be a problem because its such an in-depth and detailed suggestion

I can think of so many technical difficulties with doing this plus it wouldn't actually add much seeing as lag is pretty rare in LFS.
for you maybe but ill routinely encounter 1 or 2 ppl on a demo server that like to spontaneously apear inside me

ajp71.. why would it be so hard?
First of all, losing connection is part of the game..

Second is that AI are crap
they will be better 'soon' though...

So... no.
lol yeah but this is a simulator and suposed to be as realistic as possible. there's no lag irl. Anyways slow ai wont be too bad if its in use for about 1/2 a second.

bleh.. i think its a good idea atleast
You do have a problem then...

the AI doesn't think the same as the real driver..

so AI goes right (into a player, AI's suck :P)
player goes straight, then right...
so in LFS when the player takes over again after lag, the car 'jumps' to an other position, which means there are 2 places where you can't drive.
So I'm not really sure...

btw: Buy S2, it's great fun.
lol i dont have alot of $ and new control arm bushes for my car are more important

and yeah i know the ai and the player wont drive the same path but the difference between them would be small compared to the distance between where the player actually drove and how everyone see's him/her about 100m away
