Quote from Mikkel Petersen :give me some figures of two identical cars.

All right.

Two stock calibra turbo 4x4, the dyno test made on FWD in the same day.

217,4cv engine, 189,4cv in wheels, 12,9% transmision loss.

223,3cv engine, 198,3cv in wheels, 11,2% transmision loss.

They 're old cars with many kms. the 2 of them, and we can see which is in the best condition, but the transmision loss it's near the same in this cars.

Note, the dyno test was made on FWD mode. In 4x4 the transmision loss would be more for sure.

Sorry, don't have diesel dynos

Restricions on lemans:

This is principally:

restrictions for diesel

5.5 litres of displacement

2,94 bar turbo full boost

restriction for petrol

4.0 litres of displacement

1.5 bar turbo full boost

Who is the engine that play with advantage?

Quote from Mikkel Petersen :evidence to back that up please.

A dyno test of a stock SEAT LEON TDI 150cv

178 normal horsepower, and 112cv in wheels, this is about 37% in transmision loss and corrections.

A dyno test of a stock OPEL CALIBRA 16v 150cv

148,2cv in engine, 121cv in wheels, 18,3% of transmision loss

Horsepower in wheels it's the real power that move the car on asphalt

Quote from BlueFlame : Diesel engines are the best engines to ever go in a car. You can go just as fast as other cars but use half as much RPM, with twice as much torque. I'm sure if you heard the R10 in real-life you would think differently.. It can't sound anything as worse as the Mazda's...

Many people usually compare turbodiesel engines with ATMOSPHERIC petrol engines, this is wrong.

Here are a true comparation of 2 engines, diesel and petrol, both with same displacement and turbocharged.

Audi a3 2.0 TDI 140CV

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX 2.0 16v TURBO 280cv

In dyno tests, cars with petrol engines have 15% or so of transmision loss, instead 35% or so in diesels illepall

This is principally what diesels sucks

Quote from JTbo :Why would turbo break down in high boost?

In fact, the entire engine would break down. If boost pressure is too high and compresion haven't be reduced accordly to new boost pressure, the head gasket won't last much longer, the same for conrods and his bolts. Crankshaft get a great pain too. I saw a conrod get out of the engine block making a big hole on it!!

Many thing miss on turbo modelling, like first gear detection (real road cars have boost limited on 1st gear) and overboost (road cars usually have plus 0,2bar or so about 10 seconds, I think race cars have it too). I suppose devs know about this and will be implemented on future.

Quote from Dethred :I'm sorry. Name any Real vehicle similar to any car in LFS that gets its speed anywhere than from the differential.

Mi 1990's ex-car Opel Calibra 16v got speed signal by gearbox and had a analogic speedometer. Now I have a 1994's Opel Calibra Turbo 4x4 and this car get speed signal by ABS sensors in the wheels, and has electronic speedometer.

IMO the electronic speedometer with wheel signal it's far away more accurate than analogic speed signal by gearbox. With the turbo, when I get 220km/h by speedometer, GPS shows 216km/h. With my ex-16v when I got 240km/h by speedometer, GPS showed 220km/h illepall

Hi there!! I see this UF1 car resembles a lot with an old Mini Cooper. If you guys are searching for a good rival for this car with similar power, I only know these (all have RWD transmission):

Seat/ Fiat 600 E

Abarth version:

Seat 850:

Coupe version

I can't drive the UF1 , but I can imagine his specs All these cars give me nostalgia....

Quote from Eldanor : I think rotary engines are fuel thirsty.

You are right. besides, they are oil drinkers (mazda rx-8 has 2 oil tanks) . If these engines will be implemented in the future, it would be cool if the devs add an oil level clock, like fuel.

Cheers.

Quote from herki :well, you can always get a sophisticated honda engine, like in the civic type-r or the s2000, they rev pretty high for road car (up to 9k, with some aftermarket tuning the s2000 can get to 11k)

s2000 it's a 2.2 DOHC 16v VTEC 237ps

honda civic it's a 2.0 DOHC 16v VTEC 200ps

This cars are road cars, also are sport cars. A small car with 1.3 4-cylinder, taking away the special RX-8, are most cars for daily use, with low use of fuel, I think.

Quote from herki :race-prepped cars can rev that high... the engine just won't last very long...
or do you want to tell me, that 2.4l V8 can't rev up to 20k-rpm?

Well, I believed that XF GTI isn't a race car, but a common road car, besides, with a very short cc.

The XF GTI rev too high for the type of car it is. In real life a 1.3 four-cylinder can't rev to 10.000 and have 120ps illepall My old R-11 it's a 1.4 carburetor and cannot pass over 5000rpm

Mazda rx-8 it's a 1.3, but it's wankel engine, totally different
The Clio Williams had 150ps, but it was a 2.0

Oh, The XF GTI it's more easy to control and i got better time with custom setup (1.34 or 1.35, I remember) , But I don't like this car very much . Driving the XF GTI I realized that this car has better high-speed cornering than XR GT, but lacks in top speed. Also it seems to have better grip. This can be by FWD transmision or i don't have a good setup for the GT?

I have a wheel, but it sucks, it's a old cheap Genius. I tried 2 races with it and I lose my nerves . I prefer use keyboard+mouse while I get a new wheel .

The turbo.... I try to drive it 2 or 3 times and always the same (me spinning out of the track ). This car It's really annoying

It's very difficult keep grip with this car!!! I only have to steer softly and the butt goes crazy. For drift its amazing, but in a real race it's very annoying. (I'm racing with prof. CPU as training)

By the way, I use keyboard + mouse

Because this, I enter with respect in all bends and brake earlier. Even so, the car always slide by the butt. What can I do to gain more grip with XR GT?

Regards.
What I do wrong?

Hi!! I got something to ask. I need help with this.

After insane train with XR GT , finally I managed to average handle his restless butt in bends and keep myself on asphalt, but i got frustrated because after many, many, many, many attempts I can't lower my time in Blackwood. Best time I did is 1.37,69.

I attach my best replay here, if someone watch it, see it and tell me what I must to do for increase my driving skills.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi! about oil and engine faliure...I'd like to contribute with this.

In real life many sport cars when overcharge the engine driving fast, the engine used to consume oil, not necessarily leak it. A F1, for example, average drain of oil is 1l. at 100km. due to heat engine.

Anyway, the oil/fuel leak is cool. I'd like this problem after a big collision

Hi, I new around here!!

I saw this game in a videogame magazine and downloaded the demo. It's amazing!!! the best simulator I ever drive!!!!

-RWD of XR GT It's hard to handle at the beginning , but it's terrific
-FWD it's fine, but the GTI don't like it very much. I still prefer the GT
-The turbo it's more than I can handle for now (it's like a crazy horse in bends ). I practice a bit more with the other two cars

If I can, I try to get license soon. My job don't let me much freetime.... I'll see.

Developers, keep the hard work, congratulations

Regards.
