You haven't made an accent on any of the LFS advantages in this slow motion. Slow motion movies show off suspension and tire physics, physics of the cars and just relax you by showing you crisp and clear picture in high quality... you haven't done that. Sorry.
Yeah I have to agree with you two on this one. These shots would probably look pretty good at full speed but definitely not for slow motion.
Ahhhh your wrong! A slow motion movie doesn't HAVE to show suspension and tire physics! There are no rules to making a movie and you certainly seem to assess every movie on your own set of rules and tell people they've done the wrong thing.

There isn't one - you get NOTHING extra on slo-mo - slo-mo really only looks good for fine intricate details.

OK, let me bring it down to in an analogy of your post
an Action movie doesn't have to show people get shot, and cars get crashed and buildings exploding
a Race coverage doesn't have to show the race, the cameraman could film nice birds in the sky
a Boxing match doesn't have to show what's going on in the ring, people could be interested in the expression of a referees' face
and the best and I believe closest analogy : a Porn movie doesn't have to show naked people
You use Slow Motion to show off fine details... if you don't show them, what exactly ARE you trying to show that wouldn't be seen in proper 1.0x video? Driving? I don't think so. Track? Uh huh... yeah right... WHAT THEN?
You see... there are NO RULES on how to make a slow motion video... there are things that slow motion videos show. Just like there are no rules on how to make a porn movie, there are things that porn movies show. I don't think a porn movie would be good if you were to see 1.5 hours of badly filmed cupboard, with screams of joy in the background... Same goes for this movie - it doesn't show what it's supposed to
Well I agree with the fact that this video should not be slow motion and I agree that slow motion is used to show off fine details. I wouldn't have quite phrased it as, and yes I know this is not word for word, "you have to show off something of detail," but more so that, "you have to show off something, in a great detail." IE if the car was on the oval and camera was moving eloquently around it. There is nothing really wrong with the oval scene (though I would never have picked) but the camera work would have had to been amazing for it to have work.
This video isn't terrible, but sometimes things just don't work.

You realy can get a heartattack from those kind of videos , and if a person don't understand a simple thing of using SHIFT+U and SHIFT+F with normal FOV , and after every idiot says OU YEAH ! Squid I can understand, he's the movie forum king and I enjoy most of his comments. However, I do not care for this Big Cheese guy running around and humping squids leg every time there is a fart in the wind. Both of them really need to learn some respect in all honesty. We know what to expect from squid, but I'm getting to the point where I don't even read the Big Cheese comments.

Well, I am what I am (yup, an **** and proud), and there's no way you (meaning ANYBODY) can change it, Nolan. You (and by that I mean everyone on this forum) can either get used to it, or just put me in the ignore list. There are people who earned respect from me, but that is because they actually got to the place called "thinking on how to make a good movie" instead of "making a movie", and they have accepted the fact that they should improve, and didn't start crying. I respect people that take their time and put a lot of effort in their movies, and I see it when they do, even if the movie comes out bad. I don't respect people who simply slap a frapsed replay in the movie maker, and then get offended by a comment saying "why is it a frapsed replay compressed in movie maker"
I had my share of bashing when I was new to this stuff, I managed to get constructive comments from posts like "this sucks, and the music is sh*t" or "this is the lamest camerawork ever, and the movie is crap all together".
I really do believe I make more points that help people understand what they are doing wrong, than just tell them how bad the movie was. But somehow everyone wants it sugarcoated... sorry mates, I'm sugarfree.
As someone who's had their first video ripped to shreds by Squid, i'd like to point out that tbh I find his posts "harsh but true" - I think that while it's nice to have positive comments, a row of "good jobs!" aren't really helpful and a "you suck! do x y and z next time n00b!" helps to balance things out.

I personally didn't find any extreme cases of harshness in this thread but I do I have to agree with Austin that in some cases, you can be a little over the top. I apply this only to the best movie makers out there (Unokeva and Lynce for me). I really do believe that after their works, each step back is a disappointment.
