The online racing simulator
The state of CGames (Demo server)
I find it weird how a lot of rammers are abundant on this basic demo server, in fact, it's like a beehive there.
I couldn't hotlap in peace nor even cruise, and I'm suprised some of these rammers are still going around.

This is more of a talk page than some reports and rants about this server, so yeah Smile
The game has reached a stage where crashes are the norm on demo servers. Turk invasion
to chime in - the two populated servers where people pretend theres something more to do other than having 30 cars drive around the map closely together at 20kmh - people on there have the spacial awareness of a potato

how come theres no middle ground - i thought this is a racing game but theres no casual S3 racing
only events with highly competitive people that have been nerding in the setup screen for years to abuse every little exploit for a faster time and demo where its obviously worse than the aformentioned free driving around westhill servers

has this game become a cruise meet'n'greet simulator? atleast add mumble or another 3d audio mic program so you could chat with voice while gathering up at the hotel in westhill
hell, make it so you can get out the car and walk around and maybe do some fortnite dances, people already mod their cars to open doors and trunks; which other racing game has that?
Cruise servers do indeed rule this game. Most of the casual daily racing servers died in 2013 something ish.
Casual daily races will never happen again most likely, game is too dead for that,

Scawen should have implemented official lfs races long time ago, similar to what iracing has, one combo for a week, races every hour or 2, variety of race lenght and maybe with that rating system, altho its not as important

Sadly cruisers took over big time and nothings happening in LFS apart from some league races 2-3times a week

And in response to taipalsaari about nerding setup screen, thats what you do when u want to be good and fast right? Tuning ur setup to your own liking and be faster than others, if it hurts your feelings, you should have commited to cruising, and not racing ( u may have done that )

I highly doubt LFS will gain popularity in the long run when the big update comes out one day, maybe for a month or two, then it goes back to where it is now, these updates highly favouring cruisers with extra roads added, roundabouts, traffic lights, and god knows what else. There are no extra tracks for racers (real or fictional) + extra RACING roads for racers, no official cars, I understand its a long progress and only 2 active developers but is still sad.

ive been here actively since 2017-18 and its getting a bit boring after driving the same combo 800times, i guess its even worse for some whos been here since the 2000's ( mousemen )

I don't think I should have, there's only so much one person can do.

Maybe Victor could have done it if he had remained interested in LFS. But I'm too busy on other stuff and even had to take over the website maintenance too.

It's for the community to organise races and that is fine by me. Smile

We'll see if the new version increases popularity for only a couple of months or has some lasting appeal.

With InSim it's possible for to implement such a system unofficially by anyone, but nobody has done that in the recent years. There used to be these kind of races in the past (CTRA), but nothing has survived to this day. That doesn't mean people can create a new one Smile

Is there any chances of a november progress report?
Quote from Yoshihiro_R :Is there any chances of a november progress report?

I think december progress report ( end of the year ) is more realistic

I love to casually hop on the game and just vibe but racing as much and as well as you do is a bit exhausting indeed. Doing the same combos honestly seems retarded over longer periods. But good game anyway men

My favourite game of all time but yes i agree with you mousingmens

Better notice if was Launch Report xD

i got your point but imo, the cruise servers are bigger nowadays just because of the mods and the way it's implemented and with the improvements on them we've been having, it's unstopable for the cruise servers to grow more and more and not to mention the amount of racing simulators around, back then we've had only rFactor around, thats why LFS was bigger, people always wanted car mods,(i mean legal ones) and here we are...

and the funny thing is that some of my friends that play this game nowadays, they are younger, around 7~10yo younger than me (and they do think different), they complain on how the mods ruined it, they say that it feels like it's not back to realism anymore, the lack of physics updates, the real scirocco we've never had, new tracks, the so long awaited new tyres, and i agree with them in therms of the lack of the physic updates but my point is that the game "died" when we've got AC becoming more and more popular, people using discord instead of forums like this one and many other drifting and racing forums went down (F)Frown

lets wait for the the graphics update, it will be good but what we really want (i think i can speak for the +30yo felas that still plays this) is the tyres updates and the whole physics improvements that these gents are doing but people forget about one important thing...
Quote from Scawen :there's only so much one person can do.

i dont blame the devs for the lack of updates because they dont do this for a living, it's imho a sort of a hobby that we've got acces to by getting the S3 license Big grin

i'm patiently waiting but the age comes for all of us, i do hope to be alive by then (and so does the dev team), i've started playing this game when i was 16yo and now i'm 34yo, help us Scawen because during this time i've got a kind of a "toxic relationship" with this game, at the same time i love it, i hate it and i know that there are more people like that are lost around on the cruise servers... Schwitz

thats why the cruise servers will rule the sh*t out of the racing and maybe the drift servers aswell, thats just my 2 cents
Quote from driftbrk :i dont blame the devs for the lack of updates because they dont do this for a living, it's imho a sort of a hobby that we've got acces to by getting the S3 license Big grin

Of course they do it for a living, it's their job.

Quote from Scawen :When have I said that? I've never said that.

A full time occupation, working 10 to 12 hours most days, is more than a hobby, I think.

Unless you have a different meaning of hobby?

I have said, I like working on it. Maybe you interpret that as meaning it's a hobby and not a job?
