RTFR - Custom Cars Competitional Challenge

Welcome to the new era of LFS - the custom cars era!

With custom cars still being in test phase,RTFR will not use them in actual standings races yet as there might still be some compatibility issues, but there is one free tuesday each 4 weeks,so we'll use it for some testing! Format will be same as in normal RTFR - event starts at same time with 60 minutes qualifying and then afer 10 minutes break the 30+ minutes race follows. As always everyone should follow rules of clean racing as misbehaviour will lead to bans to the actual RTFR events!

For the 1st race we'll use the angry 5 liter V8 driven Transam on custom track, layed out on Westhill's support roads. The fat tyres won't care about curbstones as much as others would, but they are very quickly tortured by heavy right foot. It's still not sure weather the car selection limitation works, but still please don't try to join with other cars during the event!

The first ever RGE race using a non-standard car is held and we were kinda back in RTFR pre-sponsorsip era regarding attendance. Was it the difficult car or the tricky track or the combination of two? Does not matter now as the racing action was still intense as drivers deffinitelly had a brand new challenge. An unfortunate mod update timing kinda divided the field as 3 drivers were able to keep the v1 of mod, while others battled with slightly changed v2 - also something that brings new thoughts regarding mods system, hopefully in future there will be some solutions.

The freshly baked VERL Drivers champion Gábor was the fastest in qualifying,2nd best was the track record holder (set in practice before actual event) - both front row starters found the turn one being too narrow for them both, helding each other up to let competition by. Sobis started from inside of 2nd row and was able to slip by the trouble ahead - he took lead exiting turn one and led all 16 laps of the race to achieve something,he never achieved in other RTFR versions before - a race win. He has a combined total of 5 top5 finishes in both other RTFR races, highest - 4th,now the lithuanian became the 1st winner using custom cars! Just like the winner, also 2nd place finisher achieved much better result here than in standard RTFR - Thehemuli won the final lap battle and scored much higher result than his best result in standard RTFR - 7th. Antonio lost a lot of positions in the 1st turn front row failure, but came back through field with his better pace, setting also fastest lap of the race - 3rd position is 2 positions better than the only finish in standard RTFR.

Since the RTFR XL takes the 6 weeks break due the weird calendar situation,in the tuesday after 2 weeks we'll go for another CCCC event - let's see what the modders will create and publish until then! But next week the normal RTFR will feature one of the slick tyre cars, more info in the weekend!

Umm, why I show up up with 0 laps in race stats? Spectated on the same lap as Doni..

Next race in the series features something like Monaco in the 60ies - the wild P166 is set to race in South City. Be careful - this car might have similar power specs to FO8,but despite wider rear tyres it has less grip due lower aero effect. Soft throttle foot mandatory! Make sure you don't hit walls - this car gets easily damaged!

RTFR CCCC race wins:
1 - S1DUS*Litti (P1666)
1 - LLM.Sobis (Transam)

The 2nd run with custom cars showed why early top level racing was a such elite drivers event - not many were able to control the car with power of our well known FO8 without modern aerodynamics effects. Only 4 of 18 starters were able to complete full race distance, another 3 - classify as finished by completing 50% of the distance.

If previous race brought us better personal results for top3,this had only previous winners of RTFR in top3 and the winner was no surprise at all - the seasoned LFS single seater speacialist Litti set more than a second faster laptime than competition in qualifying. Early in race the other front row starter Antonio slipped by the polesitter and led first 7 laps, but then just gave up and retired, opening Litti free way to yet another race win, also in race the finn was able to set more than a second faster laptime than competition. Unite finished 2nd and had to run hard to keep the position as he was followed by the race organizer - that delivered the closest thing to position fight during the latter half of the race. Both exchanged mistakes in later race phase and ended up finishing less than a second apart without positions change.

Next 3 weeks are filled with regular RTFR action - next week normal RTFR will be the final race for 2021 standings, featuring a very long Fern Bay track using one of the most popular LFS cars, but 2 weeks later also the final race for RTFR XL season standings will take place, where the automatic choice delivered us the odd combo of Rockingham oval racing with MRT. So the next CCCC might take place in 4 weeks (depending on situation as these races will be always sanctioned rather spontaniously).

Was a great race to spectate! Really shows just how crazy these cars were back in the day! I was sight being on the sidelines watching and listening to the cars scream by in groups haha!

Previous 2 races received complaints that cars are too difficult to drive,as they had plenty of power,so for this one a significantly slower car has been picked. But one thing is same as before - coincidentally it also has a V8 engine, but with rather low power tune and the car is quite heavy (1.8t),therefor slowing it down to about GTi class speeds. Make sure you don't miss braking points!

RTFR CCCC race wins:
1 - YES V. Laguckas (Bacalhau)
1 - S1DUS*Litti (P1666)
1 - LLM.Sobis (Transam)

This event was hosted using rather slow cars, which, despite 4.9 liter V8 engine that delivers almost 200 horsepower, can't reach the pace of GTi class cars in the classic Blackwood GP Track. With 3 speed gearbox there wasn't much shifting included - just 6 gearshifts per lap were required.

V.Laguckas has not much success in standard RTFR events, but still has his share of achievements - to his 3 wins in both RTFR and RTFR XL he added one yesterday to this simple series - he set the fastest lap in qualifying, but both other drivers who broke into 1:34 laptimes did not start the race,so the lithuanian did not had much competition, but still it was no domination - he won just by 3 seconds over finish line and his fastest lap of the race was just by 3 hundredths of a second faster. P.Koivunen was a relatively close 2nd in this race, but had no real chance to challenge for win - still the 2nd place finish is much better result than his sole top5 finish in both standard RTFR races. Texas finished 3rd,repeating his best result in both other RTFR events.

With this the Race Green Events activity is over in this year, but the action in new year will begin already in 3rd day of it with AWS 2022 round 2 at South City, racing the well known FXR,one day later we'll start the new sponsored season of RTFR and that will feature the 21st car in RTFR history - full details of both events will be posted during this week, besides that also an announcement regarding sponsorship of RTFR for 2022.

Can you attach the replay? I want to watch gangster car super cruise.

Compared to previous event,we'll reduce number of cylinders, but raise the speed - the turbocharged 90ies japanese classic sports car is not the most agile car car due to it's weight, but will compensate that with some power - the power to weight ratio is a tick over the one of our well known TBO class cars.

1 - YES V. Laguckas (Bacalhau)
1 - S1DUS*Litti (P1666)
1 - LLM.Sobis (Transam)

This time we used a car which got updated between 1st test for the event and the event itself - the update caused the car being quite a handful,as seems like the modder has not much clue what he's doing. Anyway - the racers had plenty of clues how to adapt the setup and make the car drivable again and we had an intense race.

Upsas could set himself as fastest in qualifying by setting a new lap record and led every single of the 11 laps to put himself as 3rd lithuanian who wins a race in this highly experimental version of RTFR,adding the success to a single win he has scored in each of the standard RTFR series. Goszki has never finished a single RTFR race before, allthough he started one,but today went all the way to see chequered flag as the 2nd fastest of the race, leaving Fnatic 3rd - between his achievements is one top5 finish in normal RTFR.

8th february is the next opening for RTFR-CCCC,so stay tuned if we will try another untested car in competitional conditions, but until then there is plenty of action from Race Green Events side - next week monday RB4 will be raced around tricky Westhill support roads circuit in 3rd round of AWS 2022 season and on very next day one of the faster cars will be raced in 2nd normal RTFR event of this year. All the information as always in this forum section and as a reminder also in our Discord server!

Let's try something else this time - an F1 car from 1990,even if it wasn't one of the fastest and most powerful cars in it's era,it still required plenty of skill to be handled properly. However we'll race just more than 1/3 of actual grand prix distance and that on a very fast track - Aston GP! Fast straights, slow hairpins and elevating fast turns will make setupmakers crazy for sure!

1 - LLM.Sobis (Transam)

The experimenting CCCC keeps throwing challenges at LFS racers and for the 2nd time we were racing a Formula 1 car, this time from the very early 90ies era. More power, more grip, but despite all the advantages,it was just barely quicker than our well known Formula V8. The Aston mini Gran Prix gathered up 27 cars on the grid,21 of those crossed the finish line,18 - on lead lap. That's obviously much better than the finishing rate back then as we don't have to deal with that much technical failures.

V.Laguckas was the fastest in practice before the actual event setting currently unbeaten 2:21.93 laptime, but could not perform in qualifying, setting just 3rd best laptime. But soon in the race he advanced to 2nd position, chased the temporary leader and passed him on lap 3 to lead remaining 11 laps - 2nd win for this lithuanian in the experimenting version of RTFR. The 2 laps temporary leader was Unite, who started 2nd and finished 2nd,his countryman Fatal finished 3rd - starting from pole position he had trouble in early laps, but could at least rescue a podium finish.

Next week normal RTFR returns and it will feature another previously not raced car, which one - find out during the weekend! And week later it will be the 1st RTFR XL using a mod car - combo has already been announced (and server will be soon set up for further laptime testing). The whole RGE mod racing 2 weeks will start with the upcoming monday, where in AWS round 5 we'll use the well known XFR modified with electrically powered engines and all wheel drive system - best time to join the series while action is still intriguing!

Next race of this testing event will lead us to a proper endurance racing,in sprint race format though as always in RTFR - the almost 10km long fusion of both Kyoto's standard configurations is set to be raced with Le Mans spec car,the 2nd fastest class of newest age cars. The 600HP 4.2 liter engine is paired with sequential gearbox and tamed with traction control and plenty of aeodynamic help. Race distance is just 11 laps as laptime is around 3 minutes - let's see if the 3-minute mark can be cracked here!

1 - Dzban (Prototype 2)
1 - B2マ Upsas (JDM80 JZ)
1 - S1DUS*Litti (P1666)
1 - LLM.Sobis (Transam)

Yesterday we run the 1st race with a car from new car class - prototypes. And for that an appropriate track was selected to give at least some endurance feeling in the half an hour race - the Kyoto International, which actually should be an official configuration. The combo delivered race average speed close to 200km/h,which as usually led to some incidents.

Since the top3 in qualifying decided to play games with rest of the field and started from behind, the driver who qualified 5th started from front row, overtook the only opponent ahead on 2nd lap and led 10 remaining laps to cross the finish line first - it was 1st win in any of RTFR marked events for the 2019 VERL champion Dzban. But it was anything else than relaxing cruise to finish as he was closely followed by Unite, finishing less than a second behind winner,3rd was one of the last-to-first attempters R.Kardol, who got lucky in the turn 1 mess and advanced a lot positions there.

Next week it's back to more serious business - the normal RTFR version is up next with one of the slick tyre cars, full info will be posted in the weekend. Before that final round of AWS will be run on monday - allthough no new entries are possible, still worth to remind about the 120 laps short track dirt oval challenge,a total of 29 drivers have qualified for this race.

Let's try something "simple" - the STD class candidate Swirl Sport 06,which features road super tyres though. The modern size compact class car is not as small as XFG,has it's own handling characteristics and needs to be set up first. The sprint course of Rockingham National can be done under 1 and a half minutes even with car this slow.

In this race we tested the lowest powered car ever run in this event version - a front wheel driven car with 125 horsepower engine, that could almost fit in LFS's GTi class if it would not have road super tyres. As usually the easier car attracted more drivers - there were few more results past the 40th place horizont, but without outside "help" it's impossible to find them out,not so important as this series won't have so complicated stats as the other versions.

THis race brought in the victory lane another driver, who still hasn't seen it in standard RTFR versions - Fragmaster Fatal from front row and during 1st half of the race found way past all 3 drivers starting ahead of him to lead the 2nd half of the race,on the final lap setting the race's only sub-1:24 laptime. R.Kardol advanced even more positions - starting 7th,he found way pass a total of 5 drivers to finish 2nd. Last on the podium was a driver with even better progress - Upsas finished 3rd with +13 positions gain.

Next week we gonna race something fast, what and where - you might get a hint from previous week's broadcast, otherwise just wait for full info on the weekend! Week later we have something not that fast, but still quite challenging in the XL version.

4 weeks ago we tested a good candidate to match LFS's STD (GTi) class, this week we'll step one class up and test a car that's close to be on par with LFS's TBO class - the so called "poor man's Ferrari",which is just a sixpack heavier than XRT and delivers about same power as the original TBO cars, but due having the engine mounted practically above driven wheels,it will have the advantage when exiting turns. Why exactly this car? Because I have one of these and of course - because I can! Razz As the testgound we'll have a long time unused track - almost 6km long layout in Westhill with almost 3 minutes laptime!

Seems like this time we raced a car that's still quite a construction site as it showed some unfinished features (some reports already made in mod's forum thread),one of those might have contributed to a big accident exiting 1st turn. This lead to another reminder of absolute no restart policy of these races - if something goes wrong, you have to deal with it! In worst case rejoin and make a chase run or use it as a practice. Every restart might lead to another incident, eventually leading to unfair situation to someone avoiding incident in abandoned racestart, being crashed out in accepted restart. Also the event proved that owning a real counterpart of the car that's replicated in our sim does not give one any advantage over others - none of the 2 attending MR2 owners did show any great results (rushing on streets does not contribute to racing skill obviously).

The used to be affordable mid-engined sports coupe race was won by Unite, who was the only driver to crack 2:51 laptime mark and that in both sessions. Despite having an opponent slipping by in 1st lap,he led the final 8 laps, finished almost 8 seconds ahead of fellow front row starter and leader of 1st 3 laps Nosle. Michal got lucky in the big mess exiting turn one and jumped in high position, eventually bringing him 3rd place finish.

Finale of the 2022 Season 1 points challenge is up next and it will be a difficult challenge - we'll use a car that's as rollhappy as the well known UFR,but features rear wheels drive and it will be raced on track famous for it's "sausages" - full details of this mandatory vegetarian race will be posted in the weekend, while in 2 weeks the RTFR XL will have it's 2nd ever rallycross race. Also this race was a little prologue to RGE's next big event - 300km of Westhill 2022,a race using TBO class street legal cars on support roads of Westhill, where the actual track will be 3 times longer timewise. If cutious, here's a little HINT!

Since normal RTFR is in "offseason" and can be more used for various rather tested mods, the CCCC will go fully experimental and will host the first ever organized truck race in LFS! The car with it's over 5 ton weight has more weight alone than total weight of whole several grids in older RTFR history, when the attendance wasn't too high. Still the big wide tyres support the weight well enough to not melt after few turns,so this should be a proper race. In theory... We will find out this tuesday how our favourite racing sim will deal with such heavy cars!

This week we made a competitional test with a vehicle type that's not represented in lineup of original LFS car - a truck! With dry weight over 5 tons it's almost 4 times heavier than LFS' own "heavyweight" FZ5. This test showed some problems with LFS physics - firstly the known tyre problem was much stronger with the truck, while at least we did not had the problems with brake temperatures like real counterpart does as LFS does not simulate those. Also we found out that trackside objects like tyre stacks are no obstruction for the truck and unfortunatelly few drivers used this to blatantly violate track limits,so we had to bring in something more unmovable, leading to few incidents, but still - blame the tyrestack cutters for that!

This might be some kind of unfair advantage - the mod creator was the fastest in qualifying and also won the race, despite being in chase position for first 4 laps. Unite celebrated the 2nd win in row in the RTFR-CCCC,becoming the 1st driver to achieve this. Nosle finished 2nd for the 2nd race in row with 2 positions gain from start,3rd was Thehemuli who also halved his qualifying position.

Next week we'll go back to original LFS cars, which and where will be announced tomorrow, but on tuesday after that we will have our own Grand Prix race of past year. And for those who like a bit more challenge - before the next RTFR XL with 300km distance, there will be a much longer 300km race on next sunday, the 12th june - Race Green 300km of Westhill,a very challenging race with over 30 cars up for selection. Last time we raced a 700+ horsepower car and this week we'll do the same as power increase is quite slight. What's the real difference in this race is the weight - the car for upcoming race is 8 times lighter than previous one as it consists of tubular frame, big fat V8 engine and fragile glass fiber body. It's a sportscar from very early 70ies,which features a rear wing, but will have trouble turning into fast turns as front does not have much aero input for the handling! Make sure you don't underestimate the slight bends in all 3 longer straights as you'll be reaching 300km/h very fast, sensitive throttle foot is not an option,it's a requirement!
