Quote from Racer X NZ :Mind you, Scawen's Capt Kirk fantasies are really disturbing.

Quote from Amynue :Ok, you figured us out Racer X NZ, gaming is just a cover, all we really need the Rift for is porn :icon23:

That's just bloody hilarious!
I have a friend from iRacing who has had the DK1 for some time, he also has a triple screen setup. With all the shortcomings of the DK1 he still chooses to use it over his triple screen setup and has been for many months.

I have had several discussions with him about his impressions and on the strength of that I pre-ordered the DK2 two months ago..

The level of immersion that it gives sounds second to none, I look forward to experiencing it, will let you know if it lives up to expectations
So Scawen, since you will be one of the first DK2 owners, will you share your impressions once you recieve it?
What's the resolution like, better or worse than you thought?
How is the FOV?
How bad is the screen door effect?
What do you think about your Rift implementation for LFS, what's good and what needs improvement?
How is the overal experience, mind blown or not?
Are you going to cancel LFS development and apply for a job at Oculus?
How is the Alien Makeout Simulator?
S6 release date?

Ok, I think I may have gone too far with the last couple of questions...
Quote from Amynue :Are you going to cancel LFS development and apply for a job at Oculus? Hopefully not
How is the Alien Makeout Simulator? The title speaks for itself, does it? :huepfenic
S6 release date? 2112

These questions are simply hilarious!

More on the topic, the review is pretty nice.
I've just menaged to buy a DK1 for 750PLN (~$250), should arrive before the weekend
That's half of a DK2 price (350+ 50 shiping + 98tax =$498) and if I would buy one now it would arrive god knows when, could be even October. I was actually going to wait for CV1, but I wasn't expecting I will find some reasonably priced DevKit here in Poland.

I've also bought a G27 a week ago so I'm ready for some LFS testing
Quote from Scawen :Just remember the resolution is still going to be a bit low. This will be a problem in a racing simulator when you are looking far down the road. Maybe the consumer version (developed with facebook money) will have a higher resolution. Just reminding people, with all the hype, it's still just a developer kit and it might be disappointing if you expect too much.

The horizontal resolution in each eye will be 960 pixels, spread over move than 90 degrees, so you can easily see each pixel individually.

But at those resolutions, even older grade hardware should be able to handle supersampling AA to help out the resolution. On my 4 year old laptop, I ran LFS with 4x SSAA, and not only did it help with the annoying flickering from vegetation and fences with alpha channels, but it is also far superior with correcting texture mooshing than anisotropic filtering which is very nice when you're looking really far down the road.

Whatever you plan on doing with the new possibilities with DX9, I hope you will make it possible for people to disable any expensive effects. There is no doubt in my mind that I would take supersampling AA over any eye-candy effects in LFS if I had to make choice between them.
Funny video!
Great video, thanks for sharing it haha

I've watched his unboxing and Euro Truck Simulator 2 videos, and you can see how much impressed he is with LFS. In ETS2 he is chatting normally, but in LFS he can barely think of any word to say
I'm not surprised honestly, Rift implementation in LFS is that brilliant. I can't really praise it enough even in this early test stage.

I don't know what kind of magic Scawen has performed with the graphics engine, but somehow the Rifts resolution just looks sharper in LFS than in any other game or demo.

If anyone has a chance to try out DK2 with LFS at a friends place or anywhere, just do it. No better game to lose your VRginity with!
Gah, makes me want to get a DK2 now.
The UI looks cool staying still like that, nice.
Ps: any idea how much consumer will be?

they said they were aiming at about 300 dollars
Great video.

I have a question and I'm curious - can other drivers see your head movement as you move your head around along with Oculus Rift?
At the moment the head movement networking is not done, but it will be.
When you say "head movement", it's the classical left-right movement like buttons, or full head movement in position and rotation ?
