Windows 7 Validation Help
Having an issue with my Windows Lately.

I used a Bootleg Windows 7 CD to install the OS, but without entering a Keygen, which gave me a 30 Day Trial.

I then purchased a Genuine Product Key, which worked fine, and has for the last 4 months.

However, last night, suddenly i got a message stating that my Windows wasnt Genuine....WTF!?

Any clues?
I don´t know what´s happening, but you can just cr*ck it. You already paid for it, right? So now doesn´t matter how you activate it.
It´s very easy to find if you google it...

cracking WGA prevents you from installing a whole slew of stuff, including new versions of internet explorer, windows media player, and microsoft security essentials.

could it be possible someone thefted your windows key? you could phone them up and get a new key perhaps...
Yes, YOU USED A HOOKEY DISK

if you purchased a genuine key, why not just reinstall from the original genuine DVD that the genuine key was stuck to?
If you install from a bootleg/pirated/cracked disk, you will be loading non legit software, i.e rootkits, trojans, virus's etc along with modified windows core files.
Why would you install off a hookey disk with a pukka key, doesnt add up!

scratched or lost disks is at the top of my reason list... i've done it before too. and it doesn't help when manufacturers only give you a restore cd (or give you a blank disc and the software to make the restore cd, talk about laziness), instead of a windows cd like they used to.

I was trying to fix a friends Dell recently and it took me ages to figure out that the recovery CD was actually an image on its own partition of the hard disk. Very strange and annoying. Eventually managed to talk her into buying an OEM version of Windows 7 for £50, now everyone is happy. Much better to have an actual legit copy of Windows than messing round with recovery disks or pirate copies. £50 isn't much more expensive than a launch-day game, so no reason really not to pick one up.

OEM copies are perfectly legit, only they don't come with Microsoft support. Whoever calls MS support anyway?

I´m sorry but you´re wrong. There´s no difference at all between a crack*d version and a genuine one.

Quote :The company has made installation of Windows Genuine Advantage a requirement for use of the Windows Update and Microsoft Update websites, in part to be sure that customers who use support resources of the company are aware when their software is unlicensed. According to Microsoft themselves, it is legal to run Microsoft Windows without Windows Genuine Advantage. However, since non-critical Windows updates are not presented by Automatic Updates, installation of WGA is required for installation of such non-critical updates, which are only available through Windows Update or the Microsoft Download Center.

Microsoft includes the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Library in several products, such as Windows Validation Tool for Windows Media Player 11, to check the validation about all Windows software. As of version 7, Internet Explorer no longer requires the user to pass a Windows Genuine Advantage test in order to download or install the software. The WGA Validation Library is also included in the Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 and validate the Windows installation whether it is legitimate or not. The program will stop working after 30 days once it failed the validation process.
The information is then used in the WGA Library to check for overuse of license keys.

okay, so it might not be true for IE anymore, but WMP and MSE still require it.

Except for the whole, you know, that one of them is illegal and one of them isn't.

No it doesn't
never ever use a "copied" windows u downloaded.
it will do more harm than good.
invest those 50 pounds and get a new copy.
just look after ur dvd and ull never buy again (till u go to a new OS).
Boosted, in 2011 there's a fair chance he doesn't has a optical drive. Those are useless and old.

Bunder9999, that was true with windows XP - but not anymore with Windows 7 (specifically I am talking about one activated using Windows Loader. :3

I have to agree.

Considering what you get, I don't think £70 is a bad price to pay.

even if so...buy one?!
u get a dvd WRITER for under 10 euros these days...seriously.
Buy a legit key, download an image from M$ and put it on a USB stick. So much faster and more convenient than optical media. For an every day Windows user, HP is worth paying for. It's not a stigma to pay for useful things -.-

Yes, but you can also buy 0.3 ton of cows poo for approx. same price. Question is, do you need another useless device in your system which only wastes power?

That. Optical drives are as outdated as floppy disks.
Been getting told to activate windows for the past month and a bit, just cant be bothered finding an activation tool! Dont need to activate it tbh i already have a black wallpaper (non-activated forces that anyway) I dont use windows updates, i dont use IE nor WMP or any of there security features i get a box telling me it aint genuine appear but if i dont close it and just minimise it, it doesnt pop up again! Never use any of them features in an activated copy anyway so i see no need to purchase it. I never have and probably never will have a genuine copy of windows waste of money tbh, way i see it is they havent lost money from me as i never intended to spend it!

If i do find a activation tool however ill PM you it if you wish?
