Why you should never use pirated software.
You'd think that the CIA could actually afford to buy it's software rather than use a cracked torrent download. Well, not according to this court case.

Sorry for killing you with our 1337 warez cracking skillz.

"The CIA used illegally pirated software to direct Predator drone attacks, despite apparently knowing the software was inaccurate, according to documents in an intellectual property lawsuit.
The lawsuit, working its way through a Massachusetts court, alleges that the CIA purchased a pirated and inaccurate version of a location analysis program, which may have incorrectly located targets by as much as 42 feet.
The allegation raises fresh questions about the CIA's execution of drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which are believed to have killed hundreds of civilians in the past four years.
And if the court decides to grant an injunction against users of the software, it could potentially halt the CIA's drone attacks, at least temporarily, as the agency works to find a replacement"

Well, that's great, you have to actually buy a copy of the software before you can carry on murdering people.

Let that be a lesson to you America.
Stop posting all you newsfeed finds ffs, not everyone cares about what intelligence agency does this that or whatever.
So you support illegal use of software ?

Is there a ballsack between he's front feet?

Anyways, piracy is bad yea. But i think everyone who deals with it, knows the risks. So people pretty much do know when theyr installing pirated stuff and then clicking "I Agree", lulz.
I support illegal use of software. But then adding that onto a thing capable of killing hundreds of people in one go..........ummm why? How much was this software originally? I think people have missed the point here.

Either you're being retarded or an obvious troll here. That's basically saying someone who is against internet censorship is pro child porn.

Also, I don't really care about piracy. It doesn't affect the big companies nearly as much as they claim. Only at smaller, indy developers I would have moral issues. Of course, pirating software is still illegal, so if one has to do it, they better know about the consequences.

That was my first reaction too. "oh a pink cat, what is that... BAAAAAAAAAALS!!"
"OK, so we've managed to get its fur to grow pink, how much of the research budget do we have left?"
"Wow, still over half! What could we do with that?"
"I dunno, see if we could get it to grow balls on the front?"
Theres a Ad on in Australia about pirating they say "Dont do it"
Though im sure the American government will make a statement out of it yet not actually act on it.
Say one thing but do another. Like having your cake and eating it to. ect.
"You wouldn't download a car"

I would if i could.

42 feet makes little difference, dropping bombs is dropping bombs.

Did make me chuckle when I thought of those ads that claim "piracy funds international terrorism".

However, reverse engineering is not quite the same a pirating, but then that fact wouldn't suit the cause of the article's writer, would it?

As for illegal downloading, its getting something for nothing which is morally wrong, but the majority of people are inconsiderate and morally weak anyway.
Hilarious thread.
Damn, I now see the error of my ways.

The next time I need to use satellite photography, thermal scans and reports from field agents in order to launch full-scale military attacks on a country or two I promise I'll purchase the full retail version of the software.

Check your facts. Climate change has already begun (mostly in the form of fubar'd ecosystems, increases in number and severity of natural disasters and such) and shall continue. Most people in the know figure in the next 10-50 years we'll hit the point of no return, and by about 2100 the population will be about 40% of what it is now. That is, of course, if people don't smarten the hell up.
