MG6 what do you think?
It looks a little like a Vauxhall Insignia, and that is not a particularly nice looking car. I was hoping for it to look a little more aggressive, like the ZR/S/T's of yesteryear.
The dash looks over cluttered and I don't like the wheel. In fact the whole styling is rather off putting, both inside and out. I hope it drives better than it looks, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
In my view, it just isn't an MG. Where's the patchwork of parts bought out of the British Leyland jumble sale? I bet all the interior trim will stay on.. and the boot won't fill up with water

The badge isn't convincing. It just looks like there's been a high speed pileup between a Renault Laguna and the entire Hyundai range, and then somebody has decided to pimp it out with a modified BMW interior.

meh.

I think the exterior looks clumsy and the interior looks pretty similar to some other modern interiors (thinking of recent Volvo/BMW in particular). There doesn't look to be anything unique or special about it. I also don't think that just because they're "bringing back MG" that it's worth any extra attention. As Joseph says it's a little bit like people claiming Lotus is back in F1 because some group of people are using the Lotus name...it's not really Lotus in F1 and this isn't really MG. They need something unique or creative or inspiring and it doesn't seem like they've effectively been able to do that for a while.

It's not really an MG - they could of done a lot better simply launching the improved 75 / ZT they already sell in China...

Can't see it being a big hit tbh... but if MG take off then my cars value will instantly increase
Quote from amp88 :...

IMO, the last proper MG was the RV8, simply because it wasn't just a Rover dressed in sports gear.

Although having said that, the more recent MGs (ZT / ZS / ZR) are still much more of an MG than than the MG 6 ever will be.
It looks just Chinese, a copy from here and there.

MGF & TF? SVR?

I wish they'd done it earlier tbh - would of been interesting to see an MG version of the 800 or 620ti...!

At least with the Z-Range MG had an angle (hot versions of quaint little English cars) - the MG6 just looks... generic(ly Isignia lookalikey).
Its just a cheap, Chinese wank mobile with an MG badge slapped on it.

They must have pulled something out of the bag to get it passed the NCAP test (if it has done), as Chinese wank mobiles have done notoriously bad in the past.

I guess if the price is right it will probably sell, but its still a wank mobile.

And there hasn't been a "proper" MG for a dogs age, but by damn they've slapped their badge on some shite cars in the past, MG Maestro?, MG Montego? LMAO

Here comes Mr. Generic!
At least what Nanjing has done is better than what SAIC has done. Although, SAIC probably only did this, as they failed to buy the name, and it went to Ford .Confusingly, Nanjing will be building at Longbridge which is owned by SAIC who don't own the British Group, but instead own some Rover models - Nanjing owns the British Group. The British Group includes MG - but the MG6 is the same as the Roewe 550. I'M CONFUSED! Have Nanjing and SAIC teamed up?!

EDIT: Actually SAIC took over Nanjing. Silly me .
Looks 'meh' imo. There is no way some cheap Chinese hatchback will compete with others on the market today.

I think the reverse of that is likely to happen and of all of the recent MG/RoverInDrag cars, the ZS is the only one worth having as it handled best and if you spec'd it right, came with a Honda unit not the K-Series. The bonus to getting the Honda unit (other than the obvious reliability) is you could easily drop in a VTEC as all of the mounts are in the right place.
Nice! It looks a bit like the insignia, I love the looks of that car.
Now Skoda is the cheap VW, MG will be the cheap Opel/VH?
That would make a nice comeback.
tbh MG just needs to stick to cheap sports cars, i'd reacon they would do ok with a mx-5 rival
Tell them to make i4T and i6T versions. that would be nice.
Skoda is the cheap VW as it is owned by the VW Group. GM have nothing to do with MG at the moment.
Alot has changed in the year. The car has been released, and has alot of changes for the UK market. Got some pictures from the Pride of Longbridge meet:

Alot more British than I thought at first - using a revamped 1.8 Rover K-Series engine (with a turbo), designed in Britain, engineered in Britain, and assembled in Britain. At a new facility at Longbridge. Shame about being mostly built in China >.<.

Its alright. Only thing I don't like is the bonnet shut line between the headlights, just looks a bit odd. Apart from that it seems pretty up to the job.

This sums it up perfectly.

It's just... a car. Instantly forgettable. I'm actually having trouble picturing it now that I'm not looking at the picture. An MG should be something that looks a bit 'wow', in a rugged form-follows-function kind of way.

Thats the hallmark of "made in Longbridge"
I must say however, it does look pretty good IRL. Quite comfortable too - just something for me, doesn't quite feel like an MG :|. It's great value and excellent to drive, but something is missing. Apart from the new diesel.

The MG Maestro 2.0 is a surprisingly good car. Have you ever driven one?

Although i agree putting an MG badge on a Montego was a bridge to far.
