They work for me..so it's not private i think 
Did you see the controls options and see if the keys you're pressing actually are assigned to shift? Maybe it got resetted?
You should post about that on their forum,not here imo..

Dedicated host - help
Hello,
I was just configuring out how to run a dedicated host and only me can join and for anyone else it says 'Connect timed out' and on console it says 'Guest wants to join'.Ports are forwarded correctly(hope so).Links to screens below.Attached setup.cfg below too.

Is it only for me or the command /w pb doesn't show anything in game?
Edit: Also when i drove a new pb it did not show LFSW - new xfg pb for viraaj5555 etc

You are using a dedi? Try using the one integrated in lfs 'start new host' may help.
