Quote from Mysho :In some aspects of this game, AC is pre-historic in terms of common sense.

It's like they were too lazy to "think" a new system and they just copied old system from nKP even though, we all know (I hope they too) that it could've been done significantly better.

Kunos and common sense are terms that are not mentioned in the same sentence usually!

I was hoping he would learn of past mistakes in NK but that wasn't the case it seems. This could have been so much more, I doubt it will ever be as good as LFS in terms of usability but I made my peace with that. We still got a simulator capable of looking stunning made by people passionate about simulating the driving aspect of it to the maximum of their abilities. I can live with that, maybe with the occasional swearing at Kunos when I'm frustrated about it.

Stunned on the visual quality, and it drives even better then it looks. I can see myself spending a lot of time with this baby.

Quote from Eclipsed :Want to compare? Try Blackwood. I tried it with McLaren GT2 car, which is pretty similar to our GTR class - it felt so lame and powerless compared to FZR/XRR and laptimes were pretty much slower too.

The Mclaren is a GT3 car, BMW M3 is the GT2 spec.

That looks like some race ready version? We certainly don't have a rear wing in AC, I would guess they run proper slicks too which we don't have either.

I was experimenting with it but it didn't like Assetto Corsa on my system, others got it to work though. It did work nicely with LFS and some other games I've tried.

You could look at virtu mvp, it does pretty much what you're asking for, you plug your monitor in your mainboards hd4000 out and virtu mvp will switch to your more powerfull gpu on programs/games you set up with it. Since lfs is now using dx9 it does work with it too.

Depending on your motherboard you may even be able to use virtu for free, it is included with a lot of recent boards. (Was with my asrock one for example)

Yes it's the same, get it from the link Eclipsed posted fel.

edit: netkar license allowed you to play the techdemo back in september (it was I think), kunos would be mad giving away free licences for netkar owners.

edit2: I've removed the password, not enough people around, should've probably posted about it earlier.

ever since AC announced that we will have "unlimited" player slots on a server I wanted to try this out, well now we got the first track which does allow some bigger grid fuji. I will be hosting some 45 slot races tonight, passworded just for the sake of hopefully getting at least one good race out of it. I'll probably remove the password after the first "main" race and then do a bit of public racing with shorter distance.

If you already got fuji make sure to rename the directory and .kn5 file to all lower-case (fujispeedway), somehow it doesn't work with upper-case.

Server: LFS at AC
Password: muchcarswow
Cars: BMW 1M S3, Lotus Evora S S2
Booking until: 18.40 UTC
Qualifying: 20 min
Laps: 10

Quote from Eclipsed :Are you really that bored?

Comon, thats exactly what I love about this community, we get some screenshots and a day later people are creating maps/speculating about the exact layout layout changes, noticing and analyzing every tiny thing from those screens.

You should've seen what was going on here when we suddenly had this posted back in the day.

Quote from Scawen :By the way, do you start to see why Eric doesn't like posting here? These crazy conversations you end up having with people who can write but can't read. They are quite mentally tiring because you have to say the same thing dozens of times and still it is ignored and the conversation goes round and round like a wheel of deja vu. It seems like people have nothing to do so they play a fun game "wind up the developer who likes talking to the community". "All we have to do is keep repeating Microsoft marketing at him, regardless of his reply, and soon he'll become agitated which is great fun". That's probably not the case but it starts to look that way, when people talk to you and don't read the reply.

After a while it seems like there isn't any point saying anything because what you say is ignored.

I do think you're right with that, your mind is set, there is no reason for you to move on from XP so why discuss it at length with us.

Maybe you shouldn't go to the extreme Eric has chosen to go, meaning no communication at all but just be a little more selective in which discussion you chose to get involved in. I do think this XP vs Win7 one for example would've gone the same way without your input, maybe it wouldn't be as heated (because both a part of the community and you got very strong views on the subject) but I still think it is an interesting discussion about the pros and cons of software moving with the times and deserves a space in the forums, this thread was probably the wrong place to go on about it though.

While it may not seem like it but I do think a lot of us really appreciate having a developer that is so open with the community and that is probably part of the reasons why so many still are so passionate about LFS and whatever happens in this forum. I still think no/very little communication is the wrong approach for the situation we are in right now, just ignoring the few naysayers when stuff doesn't work out as planned is still much easier then ignoring an even bigger part of the community that used to love speculating about every little thing you guys decided to share with us.

But that is another topic where there's strong opinions on both sides and was discussed at length already, so I'll stop now before we get into even more drama.

I'm pretty certain I remember the dx9 debug discussion from one of the test patch threads, petern got debug output to work on 64bit windows 7. I don't know if that changed by now though.

Edit: as mentioned by peter here https://www.lfsforum.net/showt ... php?p=1830896#post1830896

Linux server finally updated, LFS at AC is back. Right now running in public mode with:

CARS: bmw_1m_s3;lotus_evora_gte;lotus_evora_s_s2

TRACKS: imola, silverstone, westwood90, nurburgring, trialmountain, monza, gentrack1, silverstone-international, vallelunga, mugello

If you didn't join the "LFS'ers at Assetto" steamgroup already you may think about it again, the plan is to get some semi public racing going there with weekly events and clean racing on a passworded server. (I am open for suggestions, will probably do first event Wednesday if the server holds up fine)

edit: you need all the addon tracks linked to join the server, blame kunos for that, the anti cheat thing checks every track in rotation.
edit2: I've removed the anti cheat files for the addon tracks, so hopefully you can join without having them now.
