Its ok, I was having a bad day because a couple of friends of mine kept on bringing him up so it was just kinda irking me. He was the longest friend of mine that I've ever had (9 years) and we were the first friends that each of us had when we moved to our city.
Anyways, I'm better now and I'm sorry for the outburst. :\
Oh, btw, speed was not the issue as much as it was the fact that the road was wet, he was driving his girlfriend's mom's lifted 1970's pickup (An unfamiliar car), and it had wide tires on it. He slid off the road (First rain of for about a month or so) and up an embankment only to roll his truck 10 or so times back onto the road.
When I calibrate the throttle and push all the way down on it as soon as I try to push the brakes nothing happens. Then when I let go of the gas it puts 50% on the throttle.
I seem to be having trouble getting the brake peddle on the Z axis.
Honestly though, I was thinking about the whole solar thing, that'd be pretty funny if they didn't have batteries and had to run off of straight sunlight, that way in a cloudy part of the track you'd have to coast. :P
Before the demo servers (Before I had bought the game) had pings of 40-100 ms.. Now that I've payed for the game, I am quite disapointed to see that the lowest ping on a S2 server is 180ms, going up all the way to 300...
Perhaps there is an option I can change or some ports I can forward to fix this issue?
lol. It seems like drifing (Something my friends used to do in our cheap cars 2-3 years ago) has become a REAL big thing, I guess its time to move onto something that isn't as mainstream..
Seeing as how I am also a noob, and don't really like drifting lemme advise this to you.
1. Use first person, in car or in the cockpit, feel free to race with force on so you can see the tires too, it helps.
2. Don't give it too much gas going into the corner, don't feel hesitant to use the e-brake either. Using too much gas will cause you to spin out, but braking too much will cause you to stop.
3. Keep the car in the tourque band, if you come out of it you'll lose power and either spin out or stop.
4. Don't forget to counter-steer in the direction you want to go, but don't necisarily lock the wheels in one direction once you start to slide.
5. You can't use a FWD car for drifting... well, you can but you won't have very smooth back tires.
6. Try racing like a normal person and when you realize that taking apex's of turns is faster than drifting come back.
7. Turn off TFaTF:3.
We're supposed to roll back to 5.11? Oh shnap. That explains why I get like 40 FPS on everything high. Also explains why Counter-Strike Source runs only at 40 FPS on everything low and 800x600 too...
Then again, 40 FPS is very playable and it doesn't really irk me. I think I might wait for the newer drivers to come by.
EDIT: So.. is it something to do with the ATi control panel that is causing the slowdowns?
Mike, I see where you're going with the whole engine thing. I too would really like to be able to fit engines into cars and adjust every single minute thing.
That'd be pretty awesome.
Oh, and I'd pay for real cars... Not if they had the name brands on them in the game though, but if the fictional ones were modeled after their realistic counterparts more. EX: like how the XR GT resembles a RX7.
I've been playing LFS for a while now and I think I'm finally going to purchase a license.
However, I do not want to do any of the transactions over the internet, I would like to know if I could send in a US Check to pay for the license. I'd even be willing to throw in an extra $5-10 on the check just for taking it.
The launch. Its so much fun being thrown into the back of your seat and slamming through the gears to try and get ahead of who you're racing.
My CRX isn't turboed yet, but when I get a turbo I'm sure my launches will be much more fun.
Another really good feeling I get when driving is when I'm taking a corner fast and the wheels start to slip a little, its just a friendly reminder that cars aren't on slots and you're actually racing.
How could any experience with E be not great? Haha, E is the best feeling I've ever had. However, the after-effects weren't so great (Feeling really retarded for a whole day afterwards)
Bryan, once again, there's nothing wrong with you. Then again, like someone mentioned you are asking probably the wrong crowd. We're all a bunch of car-obsessed maniacs. A good analogy would be like my girlfriend asking a makeup group if her obsession with makeup was a bad thing, of course they're going to say no! :P
I want to wish you the best of luck with your driving and I hope you get so good that we'll hear about you from up there
Congrats on learning how to drive! Even though it was at the age of 14
I'm into cars a lot and I still manage to maintain a healthy relationship with my friends. One thing that you'll notice is once your friends get cars you'll have a lot more to relate about and I'm sure you'll meet a lot of new people with the same exact interests as you. Until then, you've got the LFS fourms.
If someone actually included that car in S3, I'd buy a license in a heart beat. Until then, I'm still a demo racer.
I wouldn't mind also seeing an EVO and WRX, so that way people could settle their WRX and EVO battles online instead of having to shell out $24,000 to argue.
And one more! AE86 would be an awesome addition if there was a specific drift mode added.
One more edit: Wow.. I signed up in Aug 05, and never posted.
