Quote from Glenn67 :Sry to hear your friend died

I wasn't trying to be funny, rather I was indicating I was not 100% serious...

IRL I've done about 1 million km of driving over the past 20 years, I am not carless on the roads. On the roads I drive people die all the time, I'm well aware of it . I know of two this year alone and at least seven last year, this is on roads I drive every day and quite a number of the crashes I've seen not long after they have happened.

Unfortunately most road deaths are preventable and involve young drivers. Although speed is often a factor the over-riding factors are normally reckless driving, inexperience, fatigue, drink driving and or drugs.

Sry if you got the wrong impression of me

Its ok, I was having a bad day because a couple of friends of mine kept on bringing him up so it was just kinda irking me. He was the longest friend of mine that I've ever had (9 years) and we were the first friends that each of us had when we moved to our city.

Anyways, I'm better now and I'm sorry for the outburst. :\

Oh, btw, speed was not the issue as much as it was the fact that the road was wet, he was driving his girlfriend's mom's lifted 1970's pickup (An unfamiliar car), and it had wide tires on it. He slid off the road (First rain of for about a month or so) and up an embankment only to roll his truck 10 or so times back onto the road.

Doesn't work for me.

When I calibrate the throttle and push all the way down on it as soon as I try to push the brakes nothing happens. Then when I let go of the gas it puts 50% on the throttle.

I seem to be having trouble getting the brake peddle on the Z axis.

Help? I tried using that installer.

Quote from joen :Why wait for S3 if you can enjoy S2 now? It won't save you any money waiting for S3 as you will pay for the S2 part as well when you buy S3. So why not enjoy what you can have right now instead of waiting? I see this argument often but it really doesn't make any sense. We're far from S3 anyway, we're talking years away here.

And I'm not bashing people for being demo racers. I just get annoyed with people asking for more content while they haven't even experienced the content that's available right now.

Because I'm sure there aren't freeloading crackers around here.. :bananadea

Quote from JJ72 :I want pedal power, if LFS can simulate the pedals of a bike with our foot pedals, and give us a ultra light trike, there must be some awesome racing

I think you're looking for this

Honestly though, I was thinking about the whole solar thing, that'd be pretty funny if they didn't have batteries and had to run off of straight sunlight, that way in a cloudy part of the track you'd have to coast. :P

Quote from joen :So you want a program to create new cars but you didn't even drive all the cars LFS has right now?

Some people are probably waiting for the release of S3 or just are still wanting to use the demo and not pay for it yet until its a final release.

I don't know why demo drivers get bashed..

I'm assuming that the new server just has a lot of wrinkles in it that need to be ironed out...

We should just wait a week or so to wait for everything to get settled down.

My pings are crazy ingame now too..

Before the demo servers (Before I had bought the game) had pings of 40-100 ms.. Now that I've payed for the game, I am quite disapointed to see that the lowest ping on a S2 server is 180ms, going up all the way to 300...

Perhaps there is an option I can change or some ports I can forward to fix this issue?

Quote from Glenn67 :Most cars I've had actually become errilly smooth the faster you go.

The sense of speed comes a little from tunnel vision effect, but mostly from the acute awareness that one mistake will likely result in death and that is hard to simulate in a sim

Not really all that funny.

Friend of mine died 2 months back because of that. Pleasanton Weekly: Pleasanton ... crash (December 1, 2006)

Other than that though, my sense of speed is just fine with one monitor and a mouse for steering. Maybe its because I drive a CRX in real life. :P

lol. It seems like drifing (Something my friends used to do in our cheap cars 2-3 years ago) has become a REAL big thing, I guess its time to move onto something that isn't as mainstream..

Quote from Iasonas :Hey guys! i just got the game 2 days ago and after about 20 mins of demo, there was no way i wasnt gonna get a S2 licence...

These 2 days, i havent dared go online and do anything there because i know i suck but i have been playing the training things for hours and hours and i decided i wanted to try drifting. Again, im a complete noob and know nothing! My questions are:

1. Any specific way i should tune my suspesion/tyres?
2. Should i set my stearing as fast as possible both ways in the options?
3. What whould be a good way to start and practice driftin?

Thanks for any response i get, i did do a search and couldnt really find anything helpful. Also if this helps, i use Mouse for gas and break and KB for rest and i always play in 3rd person view, dunno if this is bad or not.

Seeing as how I am also a noob, and don't really like drifting lemme advise this to you.

1. Use first person, in car or in the cockpit, feel free to race with force on so you can see the tires too, it helps.
2. Don't give it too much gas going into the corner, don't feel hesitant to use the e-brake either. Using too much gas will cause you to spin out, but braking too much will cause you to stop.
3. Keep the car in the tourque band, if you come out of it you'll lose power and either spin out or stop.
4. Don't forget to counter-steer in the direction you want to go, but don't necisarily lock the wheels in one direction once you start to slide.
5. You can't use a FWD car for drifting... well, you can but you won't have very smooth back tires.
6. Try racing like a normal person and when you realize that taking apex's of turns is faster than drifting come back.
7. Turn off TFaTF:3.

Quote from Tweaker :murmur..... One idea

Unique retro style, and choice of colors is easily interchangeable. Used the green as default, but I've attached some quick color variations too.

I'm loving the last one in the first attachment. The black BG with the green and white

Quote from Lateralus :The X850XT is certainly good enough to run those settings with good framerates. I had exactly the same issues when I first installed LFS. Turns out the newish driver version I was using had a bug or some sort of issue with LFS which caused large frame rate drops. I rolled back to a slightly older version which was recommended to me (Catalyst 5.11) and now it runs great.

So basically, newer isn't always better when it comes to graphics drivers. Find the one that runs best for the games you play.

We're supposed to roll back to 5.11? Oh shnap. That explains why I get like 40 FPS on everything high. Also explains why Counter-Strike Source runs only at 40 FPS on everything low and 800x600 too...

Then again, 40 FPS is very playable and it doesn't really irk me. I think I might wait for the newer drivers to come by.

EDIT: So.. is it something to do with the ATi control panel that is causing the slowdowns?

Mike, I see where you're going with the whole engine thing. I too would really like to be able to fit engines into cars and adjust every single minute thing.

That'd be pretty awesome.

Oh, and I'd pay for real cars... Not if they had the name brands on them in the game though, but if the fictional ones were modeled after their realistic counterparts more. EX: like how the XR GT resembles a RX7.

I just really want to see a CRX. :P

Quote from rediske :depends on the price (and what cars would be offered)

I would really like to see some cars that are common on our streets today though!

Quote from SamH :Hi Tom..
You can pick up an international money order from most banks in the US, these days, and as long as the amount is in £ (GBP), the guys at LFS will accept that. Talk to them at www.liveforspeed.net?page=mailus for instructions on how best and safest to proceed. I would recommend using the extra $5 on sending it recorded delivery, to be absolutely sure it gets there safely

If you really want to pay by US check, one of our US members may be willing to receive a check from you and buy a voucher for you to use. I still have a US account from when I lived your side of the pond, but anything that goes in there is likely to get lovingly spent by my ex wife

The money order route is definitely the best option, IMO, and you're dealing directly with the Devs.. most ideal, really.

Hope that helps

I could have not asked for a better answer.

Thank you thank you!

I've been playing LFS for a while now and I think I'm finally going to purchase a license.

However, I do not want to do any of the transactions over the internet, I would like to know if I could send in a US Check to pay for the license. I'd even be willing to throw in an extra $5-10 on the check just for taking it.

Quote from dropin_biking :Well yea the actual experiance from E is relativly fun, but comming down is the worst in the world. But I run track, and mountain bike, so I have to keep my health up, so E isn't really the way to go. Speaking of car obsessions, whats everybodys BEST feeling when driving a car?
~Bryan~

The launch. Its so much fun being thrown into the back of your seat and slamming through the gears to try and get ahead of who you're racing.

My CRX isn't turboed yet, but when I get a turbo I'm sure my launches will be much more fun.

Another really good feeling I get when driving is when I'm taking a corner fast and the wheels start to slip a little, its just a friendly reminder that cars aren't on slots and you're actually racing.

Quote from dropin_biking :Haha Bryan James Markle. I doubt I will ever be famous, maybe locally, but nothing ever national, or international. And I'm pretty sure I will be staying away from drugs, my experiances with marijuana and E wasn't too great.
~Bryan~

How could any experience with E be not great? Haha, E is the best feeling I've ever had. However, the after-effects weren't so great (Feeling really retarded for a whole day afterwards)

Bryan, once again, there's nothing wrong with you. Then again, like someone mentioned you are asking probably the wrong crowd. We're all a bunch of car-obsessed maniacs. A good analogy would be like my girlfriend asking a makeup group if her obsession with makeup was a bad thing, of course they're going to say no! :P

I want to wish you the best of luck with your driving and I hope you get so good that we'll hear about you from up there

Congrats on learning how to drive! Even though it was at the age of 14

I'm into cars a lot and I still manage to maintain a healthy relationship with my friends. One thing that you'll notice is once your friends get cars you'll have a lot more to relate about and I'm sure you'll meet a lot of new people with the same exact interests as you. Until then, you've got the LFS fourms.

I'd love to see a port of the CRX in S3.

If someone actually included that car in S3, I'd buy a license in a heart beat. Until then, I'm still a demo racer.

I wouldn't mind also seeing an EVO and WRX, so that way people could settle their WRX and EVO battles online instead of having to shell out $24,000 to argue.

And one more! AE86 would be an awesome addition if there was a specific drift mode added.

One more edit: Wow.. I signed up in Aug 05, and never posted.
