Majod: Indeed. Epic film, although the "new" (original) version is a bit convoluted.

All ready for GT5... Bonus points if you can guess the film!

Laptop just out of shot on the bed, but this is my desk so it still counts.

Can you make a quite narrow mountain road on that Mt. Azo scenery?

Again, no experience here. I know someone who's doing a paramedic course at uni though

Do you get to drive things with blue flashing lights?

And also, you're far braver than me. Most respect to you, sir.

Any other UK'ers here a bit miffed that the SE is being held back by ParcelFarce when the standard games got delivered today?

That's exactly what I don't understand, surely shops will get more customers in the evening instead of during the day, as there's not really many people around to shop on a weekday.

Quote :The self checkouts are monitored by a member of staff, they find the most stuck up goodie two shoes they can and insert an extra 3 sticks up their arse.

My job was babysitting the self checkouts We had the world's worst attempted shoplifter on a regular basis, a lady who would scan most of her stuff but just leave the things she wanted to steal in her trolley. Every week. And every week I'd be like, "Have you scanned that? No? Well here's how you do it...". She didn't learn, surprisingly.

But seriously, the meat stealing thing doesn't work anymore because it's tagged mostly. And most self checkouts have security people around now too. Sorry

Quote :98% of all attempts to scam the self checkout are by Polish people (the countries big immigration centre is near me so we have a very high Polish population locally).

Completely untrue in my experience, the Polish customers were always courteous and friendly. Much nicer than the stuck up Chelsea Tractor drivers we used to get.

Back on topic: I live in a fairly large town but our nearest city (Chelmsford) also has these silly closing times. And it's interesting the UK seems to have shorter opening hours than the US/EU stores... But yeah, a lot of it is me expecting too much...!

Quote :Would you want to work on sundays?

I did for 4 years at a supermarket Shops open weekends but then it's busy and crappy, so late evening opening or 24 hours (like supermarkets) seems achieveable.
Shops suck! (Or is it me?)

Bit of a random topic to chew over on a Friday night but thought I'd put it out there.

Is it me or do brick and mortar shops/establishments suck?

Town centre shops close at 5:
Most people get out of work at 5, WTF?

Banks don't open Saturdays:
When the **** am I meant to go if I work weekdays and they're closed evenings??

Big box stores either sell overpriced toss or stuff you don't want:
Recent example of price stupidity: bought a "bullet cam" type thing off eBay new for £12, Maplin sell it for £50-£100 depending on model. Surely there's a middle ground which will still provide the stores a profit?

Availability problems: I want a Playseat/Visionracer kind of accessory for my PS3 but all the retail stores sell is fold-up crap for £80+ (if Argos had Playseats on sale for their RRP, I'd happily buy one...), I want a rollover bar for my MX5 but the parts stores only sell "style bars"...

Is the problem with me wanting things that aren't readily available, has my perception of value been altered by Amazon etc, have Tesco taught me to expect 24 hour opening, or are the traditional stores just sorely behind the times?

/rant - discuss

Quote :Actually I'm glad to live in a civilised world where someone's life is still alot more valuable than the PS3 he's trying steal.

I wouldn't disagree with that.
Quote :If I caught a guy lugging my TV out of my house and proceeded to beat him to death, would you think that was OK?

Of course not. But you should be allowed to slap him about a bit if necessary to defend yourself or your family if you feel threatened.

Quote :In most states, we have a "Castle Law", or "stand your ground" law. Which means, our home is our "castle" and we have a right to defend it(lethally even). It basically states that if your home is intruded, you aren't legally required to retreat, like in other places. You are allowed to stand your ground and fight to protect your home. Some states, this law only applies in your property, in others, it's in effect in public as well.

It's probably contentious to say so, but we need this in the UK. As it stands, if someone breaks in and you kick their arse, odds are it's you going down not them if someone can argue your response wasn't "proportional".

24 hours of Spa? Hmm. If there's night racing at Brands Hatch, I'll buy it (Britcar Into The Night was awesome last weekend!)

Is it me or is that Laguna track basically the GT4 one but with higher res textures? The crappy tiling and low poly track details seem to be there... What have they been doing for the last 5 years??

(Still have a Sig. Edition on order though...)

It's more "baby McLaren F1" from the side to me. You'd still have one though I bet

Quote :Looks cheap, and I bet it isn't.

When I first saw it, I thought "that has to be a test car" as no owner would let it get that dusty and dirty after spending £100,000 on it
