Thank Goodness! Finally out of the "terrible two's". Perhaps now they'll act somewhat responsible / representative of the eastern hemisphere sim community. haha, jk
The only thing that's rubbish is your general attitude.
No-one is arguing that TN's provide the best picture, or any other bogus claims. The picture they provide at the cost they sell for obviously makes them attractive to non-elitist/videophiles. Get off your high-horse, you sound like such a snob.
Shot & Forbin: while you two may appreciate the advantages of the non-tn panels and 22" monitor offerings, there really is no need to bad-mouth them to those who own them quite happily.
The benchmark is at max quality, on BL1, FBM, with 8 AI drivers.
The whole process takes about 20minutes. Download it and try it.
Edit - My system runs capped at 60fps for 1680x1050, max quality, 8x/16x AA/AF, 90% of the time. But through the benchmark it even drops down into the low 50's.
Yeah, those are the best scores out there. TBH, a LOT of people claim 60+, 100+, 120+ constant FPS, but with heavy multiplayer, or even just a few AI, those numbers just aren't true. That said, AI seems much heavier a drag on systems than multiplayer though.
Vista excels when you throw tons of RAM at it, and to do that, 64-bit is the way 2 go. On top of that, many (if not most) of all the early xp64 compatibility issues are gone away.
32-bit just limits you as you will never be able to utilize 4 or more GB of RAM.
Actually, i have to disagree Ben. Consider Monaco, Hungary and other impossible to pass tracks:
It could definately be worth significantly altering your pit strategy (BMW) to go out on light fuel and go for pole. Get your cars out front, and get a quick lead in a short first stint. Cars behind you (McLaren/Ferrari) will be quagmired in battles for position and naturally fall back.
The Potential is there for someone other than Ferrari/McLaren to set the pole every race, which instantly makes it more interesting from a strategy perspective.
I'm surprised no-one's really experimented with this yet, but look for some interesting stuff a little later on in the season.
I'd like to try this if any servers have it up and running, my concern:
I run in-car camera with a narrow FOV (don't know off-hand the angle), on a 1680x1050.
My concern right now is that the display will completely obscure/block out my instrument/gauge panel, on my FZR at least. As of now my rpm/speedo are in the middle very bottom.
Perhaps having this information only become present to the racers when conditions change, as outside of directors/managers this info is not available IRL either?
I applaud the work here, and hope LFS may integrate trackside flashing yellows a la IRL at some point. For now, i think it needs some thought put into the display.
Shame really, I still haven't seen what exactly caused his massive backwards spin into early retirement. Contact, no TC, over-eagerness, anyone know for sure?
Terrific point . Just remember that I will call them out for being goobers after they act accordingly.
You could almost say that for every driver out there. Rain generally equals crap shoot.
I do miss the days of rain = Schumacher 3 seconds a lap faster than everyone else. Except of course when he runs over the cars he is lapping, the goober (DC at Spa?).
Bourdais was very lucky that he got back on the road without damaging the car, otherwise he would be remembered for being the goober that he is.
F1 drivers should be the 22 best racecar drivers in the world, impervious to the mental lapses of other mere mortals. So yes, when you drive off the road on T1 L1 of a 24hr race or find the world's smallest gravel trap while in commanding position of the F1 driver's championship while claiming to be one of the 22 best drivers in the whole world, I reserve the right to call you a Goober.
More or less Ben, they use completely different engines weekend to weekend, the whole thing gets stripped down, then rebuilt and put into the "que" if you will.
And its closer to the region of 850-880 HP now days.
Anyone here watch the first corner of the first lap of the 24 hours of le mans last year? (Hint: watch for the car going extremely fast off the side of the road. )
I believe he may have retired to avoid having to take another qualifying pentalty next race. His engine was dying badly, and if he had finished, he'd only have gotten a couple more points. But then next week he'd undoubtedly need a new engine, 10 spot qualy pentalty putting him in the same situation he was this week. DNF = No pentalty for engine change.
Almost certainly you mean a loss/lack of focus. Between worrying about a car that failed in qualifying, starting back of the pack, passing 12 cars in the opening laps.... Yes, he made mistakes, but lack of fitness is a farce and complete conjecture.
Hamilton gets the race handed to him without any form of adversity (predominately because of Kimi's qualifying woes), and you're making it out to be one of the all-time great drives?
As for not having a drop of sweat, you probabbly couldn't be more wrong. He almost certainly got to towel off before we saw his face, it was 100 degrees outside, and if truely was sweat-less it could have only meant he was completely dehydrated.
Anyone else notice the position/angle of Ruben's head going down the front straight?
