Quote from ajp71 :Absolute worst thing to do is show the brake lights, many drivers (including myself) will happily hit a car deliberately brake testing them. Just last Friday I did exactly that, I was coming up the outside lane @ 75mph on a 70mph perfectly straight section of dual carriageway, there were two other vehicles around a lorry in the slow lane and a Primera traveling somewhat slower than the speed limit behind said lorry. At the last minute the Primera pulled out without indicating and forced me to brake, speed now down to 57mph according to the satnav (the boss's of course, I stubbornly insist on reading maps ). I then followed about a car length behind the car rather frustrated that it had dangerously pulled out infront of me and now wasn't doing anything to improve the situation by barely driving faster than the lorry. Evidentely the old boy driving it felt he had some kind of right to be as anti-social as possible and decided to brake hard infront of me, and more than testing the brakes speed was down to 44mph according to the GPS, with the slightest tap of his back bumper he instantly found the accelerator passed the lorry and got out the way again.

Whilst I felt it was safe had anything happened it would be your fault for brake testing, simply don't do it, especially when the car behind looks like it is old and solid and wouldn't give two shits about getting physical.

Brake testing is fine for people who are right on your bumper as long as you dont slow down. In fact, its recommended. Thats what I've been told my driving school (run by Police officers), my dad (Ex State Trooper), and others. Now, talking about what you said, where the guy slowed down, that seems kind of stupid, but makes more sense to be angry about. Oh, well. Different cultures. I guess we just have a hell of a lot more road rage here.

Oh, well. Looks like he'll have to start doing what ever it is that the snowboarding team is doing to get past drug testing.

Quote from james12s :
people judge truckers without really understanding

I would have to agree. They are human to. They make mistakes, and when you spend that much time on the road, everything tends to blend. I guess highway hypnosis. Plus, for my driving school, a trucker brought in his truck (with no trailer might I add) and had us sit inside and look at the blind spots. The mirrors were actually set just about right for me. I couldnt see a dang thing.

But as far as other drivers go, I've seen a huge increase in people running reds, not signaling, running stop signs, and other things like that in the last few months.

prodrift looks like great fun but prepping a 10k car is easier said then done...

if only i had the patience of a saint.

The only difference is that more people have the means to ride a bike on the dirt.

Wow, I just looked up this Howard Bloom guy. He seems to be quite brilliant.

Artist: Black Mask
Song: Diabolical Interlude
Album: Facade Dreadnaught

Must be a new artist or something because I can barely find anything about them.
Also, the video maker included clips of Howard Bloom's interview in Disinformation and shouldn't be part of the song.

Edit: Nevermind. The preview in Rhapsody has that Howard Bloom clip. I thought that it wouldn't have the clip because I couldn't find the song using lyrics.

Thanks.

Edit: now the video's creator has posted the song info, lol. Probably after the 3 million PMs he got asking him about it.

Quote from theirishnoob :i find it is a great thing to do but much like football, id rather play it then watch it...

I would much rather be riding, but, um we have 10 inches of snow on the ground, with a layer of ice that you can break through 5 inches down, so riding is out of the picture, at least until the weekend. Plus, if the preview for the movie is that good, I cant wait for the movie its self.
What the heck is this song.

Crome FTW. FF is nice and all, but crome is just way nicer. I like the layout better, plus I've never gotten a pop up in the time I've been using it (I think the second day it was released is when I started). With FF, however, I'd rather just get the pop up than the thing warning me about the pop up. For some reason, I could never X that box out, and if I was watching a video and a pop up came, it would crash. The only problem I've ever had with crome is trying to watch videos from Fox's web browser (I had to watch Lie to Me, great show BTW, on Hulu rather than fox's site).

Quote from Klutch :Erm..how do you lose the back end of a FWD on a freeway, unless you were doing something stupid?
Also 150kph...speeding...

Oh, thats right, I'd forgotten you're better than everyone else.

But in all seriousness, doing 95 in the rain on public roads seems kind of stupid. I'm sitting here reading from Taruffi's book. The co-efficients of Smooth asphalt is.7 VS wet asphalt at .4. Thats not factoring in other things like oil or road debris. You're life, fine. But dont endanger others.

I'd just like to say that American cars arent as bad as people say (I'm talking current stuff). They are still very poor compared to what the Europeans and Japanese have to offer today, but when you look at where they are now VS. where the were say 10 years ago, it is quite impressive. But if I had my choice, I would buy "foreign" (I put the quotes on, because so much of that "foreign" stuff is built in or around the US) just because, well, um, the cars work a good bit more.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the police Crown Victorias infamous for exploding whenever they got rear-ended?

I'm not really into the whole American car bashing thing, but if there was ever a car you should avoid, that seems to be the one!

You are in fact correct; however, it is to the best of my knowledge that the newer PI models (I believe 1999 or 2000 to present) had honey combing installed around the fuel tank. Also, I live in Ohio, which seems to be infamous for idiot drivers who rear end state troopers on traffic stops. I've seen probably 15 or so videos of Crown Vics being rear ended by cars traveling at high speed, and none of them have exploded. I have included a classic example. And if you search around on youtube, you can find the vid of the crown vic exploding with and without the honeycombing thing.

5. Ford Crown Victoria

Not completely true. Your probably just speaking from an elitist, "mommy and daddy will buy me my first car" point of view. You can get fairly new ones in really good condition (some high millage, some low) that have been maintained very well for around 3000USD. Plus they are fairly fast (for the money) and handle semi well (considering the weight). To be honest, I'm thinking about getting one, and I would have my heart set if I could get one in a you-shifter. Now, that being said, I'm talking the Police Interceptor versions. Still though, IMO you cant bash a car if you dont even have a car of your own.

Dont download the driving sim. It seems to be complete trash. I guess it could be useful for learning traffic laws, but other than that it sucks. Its defiantly not setup to be used with a wheel and pedals. The car physics are quite bad also as are the crash ones.

It is really good. Well, from what I saw, it was really good (it was on something like ESPN Classic when I was at a restaurant, so I couldnt hear it very well). I'm not sure its a documentary, though.

Quote from GrIp DrIvEr :so, but then he did a few more, then sliced his finger all the way down to slicing the muscle when he was at work. Also, have you ever jumped a 40 foot wide fire road where people have seriously hurt themselves by doing it? Also, i can't use my brothers cell phone where the pictures ARE on it because he'd kill me, or he'd eat me.

Do I believe you brother jumped a fire road? Sure, why the hell not. Never heard of a 40 foot wide fire road, though. What I'm doubting is the 25 foot "gap" done on your mommy's bike. Unless, of course it is one of those with super smooth trannys. If so, I'd love to see pics of the gap, because I'm always looking for ideas.

Quote from GrIp DrIvEr :haha lol! I've also gotton bigger air jumping on my mom's trail bike! I jumped, literally, a 25 foot gap (if I do call it that). Sadly, my mom's handle bars couldn't take the impact. They bent when I landed. Anyway, my brother does HUGE jumps. He has a $4000 bike, and he already did a mountain bike race. He also went over to Moab, UT (Utah) with some friends for a weekend, and he said he did doubles 50 feet long. He also jumped a fire road in Colorado, or somewhere. I forgot. But, what kind of bike do you have?

As I've gotten more and more into Mountain Biking, I've realized that exaggeration is fairly normal. Plus, doing a race means almost nothing. I've done several, but that doesnt mean I'm shredding gnar. And as the famous saying goes, "pics, or it didnt happen."
