Just installed U to test it.

While sitting in the pit garage talking to someone that just installed LFS.
I noticed the seem in the walls in the pit garage sparkling.
little white dots/lines were flowing up and down the seem...
See attached image, was difficult to capture.

...maybe it always did, but this is the first I noticed it.

Also, is "If jump start, then spectate" new in this version or has it always been there?
This needs an on off toggle for host... as this will be very painful to run events, since EVERYONE, ALWAYS, jumps the light.

Anyone that is eager to get you to download a free crack, isn't really trying to get you to use the crack, they are trying to get you to install the malware software that is attached to the crack so they can use your computer to mine bitcoin, or look at your web cam whenever they want.

I only use LFS itself, nothing else added to it, aside from .jpg file changes for the skins/billboards.

While they are all on the same account, they are all logged in as different users, Player01 Player02 Player03 etc...

I need to have at least 1 AI car finish the race "on-time" or players will have a never ending turn, after being spectated and put back in the race on lap 1 again. The AI is my race timer, once it finishes I end the race, and change drivers. /cruise will not allow AI.

Automatic Spectate at Undesired Times, Why?

I use LFS to do events. During these events I sit behind all the cockpits and watch over them. VERY often, and even more so in the last few events, a player is automatically spectated, and I do not know why.

This is while drivers are driving in the correct direction.

I used to have a button mapped on the wheel that would press SHIFT S, This was the red dial on the G29 wheel. Most people do not realize it can turn like a bottle cap, so it rarely gets pressed when people randomly mash buttons to find out what they do. I got rid of it earlier in the year, because I thought people were bumping it accidentally and kicking themselves out of the race. However, it is still happening.

I never get to see what they are doing for sure, as I have only witnessed it a few times, but the few times I saw it happen out of the corner of my eye, they do not appear to have been doing anything wrong, just driving... no mashing of the wheel, and not driving the wrong way.

This last event had a really bad instance, one lady was spectated about 5 times, in a 4 lap race.... I could see no reason why on her screen.

The only thing I can think of that is left, is a bug in LFS, maybe something to do with the auto-kick for driving the wrong way... maybe it is kicking the wrong player? maybe it is being triggered at the wrong time in the code?

Also, every now and then, somewhat rarely, a players car just coasts and behaves like the engine is shut off, but it is not.... it will not go. It is often too early to be simulated drive train damage, but I do just tell the player they blew their clutch and to press the reset button. Often this is what actually happen, but sometimes it does it for no reason....

Thanks, and yes I got lucky that they found my site in time to do the event.

There was some talk about making it easier to access the setup location next time... so maybe? Smile

I need to make setup and transport of the cockpits easier though, the amount of work to un strap, unload, move them across the stadium set them up etc.. was too much for 2 people. I thought I already made it easy, but I need to set it up so there is less time messing with wires.

A quick video walking past the setup.

I meant to get more photos of this, but once people sit in the seats, I focus too much on the event and forget the photos...

I quickly tossed together some skins for the event...

At first I could not get my 2nd computer to recognize the skins, or the bill boards logos for Black Wood. I restarted reloaded, re copied, moved, etc... I had to change the folder name of all the other LFS folders I had for past version before the bill boards would work, and never got the skins to work. So they were only visible from half the seats, the rest were showing white cars.

After losing my largest repeat client, and having most of the events canceled due to weather this year, I told myself if I do not get 1 corporate event, and a new repeat client, I would give this up. And I was about to come on here posted that I had given up... however, I was contacted by a very BIG company, and was hired to do an event, in the sports stadium that they own, there is a good chance that I will be doing it again next year.

I waited until AFTER the event to post about it, since every time I post about it before hand it gets canceled. Smile

I was not allowed to take photos of anyone at this event, on the off chance it was a player, because they do NOT endorse my product, and even if they did I cannot afford that. Smile

This was yesterday, but this event still has me exhausted and in pain today. It was non stop racing, with a line that was long enough that I had to reduce the race length to only 4 laps to get everyone a chance.

I run latest public version of LFS in my trailer.

I still need to put LFS logos and screen shots on the trailer, I was waiting for new version of graphics though Wink

I would like to have an official video for LFS running on a loop an a spare monitor in trailer though.

Does anyone think there are any components in the Logitech G29 Wheels that would be damaged from leaving them in a trailer during a freezing winter? Trying to decide if it is really necessary to relocate them to my basement as I had done last year. Will save me a lot of work, and it will keep them ready incase I get one of these 2 winter events that are pending.

What about a Sound Bar? Speakers?

The monitors I already have setup to be quick release vesa mounts so I can easily pull those off and put them in their box and move to my basement, those I know will freeze so I have no choice.

I am not 100% sure, but I think steam requires a customized version of the game that is setup to work inside their user matching application, this would just be more work for the LFS developers to do, instead of working on new content and tire physics.

I dislike Steam, and the way it installs games, LFS is less intrusive to your computer. They are opposites, and just not a good match. HOWEVER if steam would allow it to be a simple download link to the demo, as it is, in its current form, I can see it maybe working as a way to advertise LFS to more gamers. But do you want more gamers in the LFS community or racers?

First Race: Concept #1

MAIN EVENT:

Entry Fee: $15 (PayPal)
First Prize: $100 (PayPal)
Minimum Racers Required: 10
Clean Racing: Required (or Banned?)
Race Format: Track, and Cars Undecided.
1 Single Race, or A few points races?
Likely a vote before entry fees are collected.

SECONDARY EVENT: (DEMO RALLY)

Entry Fee: DEMO USER WITH AT LEAST XXXX Miles Logged in ($1.00 for less miles?)
First Prize: 1x LFS Voucher (DEMO to S1)
Minimum Racers Required: 4
Clean Racing: Required (Thinking I would rather motivate demo players to race cleanly)
Race Format: 1 Race, 3 Laps Around Blackwood

Will do this right before the MAIN EVENT, so the winner could potentially pay the entry fee for main event and join in.

I am aware of the high chance this will not take off.
But I like LFS so much more than the other sims. LFS needs a boost, even if it is a small one. So even if I can pull 1 person from another sim, for enough time to practice and do the race, that will at least be something...

I only anticipate a few DEMO players, but HOPE for more.
While I doubt they actually would, I have seen, more than a few times, DEMO players claim they would buy LFS if it was cheaper... so this is a chance for those few to put their money where their mouth is.

I want the prizes to be more than a voucher... but the first race will not likely have enough participation.

I am thinking about giving the winner of RACE #1 the option to instead choose my OLD and WELL USED, G25 wheel, assuming it works, and if they pay shipping, or a small micro RC car worth about $80 that is easy to ship (Zen Wheels). -- Why? Because I already have these.

Maybe I should skip the DEMO race, and go right to the main event, I want to do cash prize races in the $100 to $1000 range, but this would require entry fees in the $20-$50 range.

Then, Maybe each time there is prize race, I could also do a DEMO DERBY, and take a little of the funds from the prize race, to pay for at least 1 voucher as the prize for the demo race. This would somehow have to be open ONLY to DEMO Players with a minimum amount of miles logged in.

Likely not, but I forget how demo works, I know they cannot access the Autocross Editor, but can DEMO racers, join a REGISTERED USER hosting on blackwood with an autocross layout? I would prefer to customize the track a little, if not do a custom track in the parking lot (figure 8! lol). Will search after I post.

It is all nothing more than ideas right now...

Virtual Raceways RACE #1 - Planning Stage - Win $100 or S1
SimulatorRental.com

I have long been thinking of setting up my own LFS Server and doing regular races, regardless of the current size of the LFS community. While this would be first and for most FOR FUN, I would like to have small prizes for the winners, and maybe work up to bigger prizes if interest continues. The prizes need to be paid for, so there will be entry fees for every race.

The first event will likely be a complete mess, as I get use to doing this, and we try to get more drivers to participate, so the first race will a "DERBY", open to DEMO users, and will have $6.50 USD entry fee, which is about half the cost of an LFS voucher.

In this first "DEMO DERBY" the prizes will be an LFS voucher for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. This will hopefully turn a few DEMO users into S1 users...

The trick to this, is I need to collect entry fees from at least 12 players to cover costs, and getting 12 people to agree on a race time may be a bit tricky. However if we get more than 12, I will cap it at 24 entries this time.

Future races will have larger entry fees like $10-$40, but will also have cash prizes, maybe even sim racing equipment in the future. All will be pending how much participation there is...

This race is a DERBY because, well demo users will be on track, and it will be a derby anyway. Future races will be focusing on CLEAN RACING. This first event being a derby, we may do a few races for points, and go by points to determine winners. This way a derby event will last longer then a few seconds. lol

All of the above is highly subject to change as I figure out what I really want to do with this.
All entry fees will be taken by PAYPAL. All cash prizes will be given by PAYPAL. All LFS vouchers will be given though the LFS website voucher system.

My hope is that the prizes, will motivate people to participate. And as more people participate maybe increase the LFS community a little.

So, who, if anyone, is interested? What days/times would you prefer to do this?

BLACK SCREENS:

So the last few times I had the sims running, I got a few black screens.
People were in the race pods trying to race at the time, so I was too flustered trying to get it back up and running for them before they asked for their $ back, to collect or rename the replays.

Usually it would just recover, sometimes really fast, and sometimes it took a couple minutes.

One time the first black screen of the day caused the sims to all run at about 40fps (it is capped at 60fps in settings), it then black screened a few more times that day, recovering at 40fps each time. One of these times it black screened and did NOT recover. I had to reboot the entire setup to get it working again.

I checked temps, and I do not believe it was due to an overheating GPU, as I don't think it went over 80, unless the temp sensor is bad. I replaced the PC CASE fans anyway with new noctua fans, and added a few more.

Just a little worried that it is happening more frequently on the main host computer lately.

SIM TOURNAMENTS

I am trying to get a monthly/weekly tournament league started for local racers.
With entry fees and prizes to motivate payment of those entry fees.
If I can get some regular "league" players maybe this is another way I can afford to keep dong this. I would like to do another one ONLINE, but I fear for people cheating to win the prizes.

RAIN

Events are still being rained out left and right... I can go a week with no rain, then ON THE HOUR the scheduled event is suppose to start it starts POURING until the event is suppose to end... then a week of no rain again!!! -- I guess someone is telling me to do something else for money. I will be renting out a local wedding reception facility on the off days, to do my own tournament events.

EVENTS

I need to find more events to do. I previously mentioned 3 BIG events coming up.

The one for a magazine/tv show failed, they just stopped responding and ignored all contact after saying they were interested in it. OH well it RAINED hard toward the end of that event and canceled out their main event drag race, so I am glad I wasn't there to get rained on, AGAIN.

Another for a car-show-event group was RAINED OUT, but they had a rain day, and since they paid me to be there, I was giving races for free, so it was the busiest event I have done yet, all 8 seats were full almost the entire event. I almost passed out from heat, sun, work, etc... The problem was, their rain day was on the same day as another event I was scheduled to do, however it RAINED on the event I had to skip, so I guess I snuck around the rain that day and got 1 good event in.

The 3rd event, is in 2 weeks, and while they keep saying they are interested, they have yet to confirm or make any setup plans. So I do not know if they will pay me to give free races, or if I will have to charge $ to make it worth it to be there.

I have an inquiry pending for a corporate party event in Chicago, however they want it to be NASCAR themed, and LFS does not do NASCAR, aside from putting nascar skins on the cars. Maybe they will change to F1 theme Wink It is also in NOVEMBER, which means there is potential for ice on the roads on a 1000 mile round trip with a trailer, so this one might not happen.

Actually made $100 at the event today.

The event yesterday was a fluster cluck.
They did not have room for me, so the time they told me to setup was the time the event was OVER. They had me setup infront of a school were they had babysitters for kids while parents were drinking and listening to music in a park a mile away. So it was like being told to do their private event for free, and try to charge $5.00 to their guests... I just packed up and left.
Waited a year to do that festival, since it was less than a mile from my house. There was at least 3 other events I could have made money off of that day....

And as I look at this new photo I uploaded I realize the graphic printer STRETCHED my logo sideways.
If I did not already say, The flags I had printed were messed up a slight bit too, not really noticeable unless you stick your face up to it to see though.

The V nose would look something like this with screen shots on it.
Obviously with much better screen shots that were specially posed and staged just for this purpose, so more cars fit in, and are not too far away in the background etc.

If/When the graphic update is released I may even have a contest to see who can get the best shot to fit that I like... might require my Virtual Raceway Skins on the cars, which I need to update as well.

One side of the trailer finally has the logo on it!

He had issues with the prints from other side and rear so those have to be redone.

Now, I need to think about what else I want to put on it to explain what Virtual Raceways is in the short time people see it going down the road. I held off doing more text, because all my ideas are too wordy. Ideally everyone would just go to the .com and find out, but obviously they wont unless the sign gets them wanting to.

"Multi Player Race Simulator"

"We Race at Your Place"

"Birthdays & Corporate Events"

I am thinking of using a screen shot of cars on track in LFS to cover the entire V nose panels. So... going to wait for graphic update on that one. Smile

Need to get a shot of mixed cars with a nice looking track to fill each side. Maybe one side with the GT cars racing and one side with all F1 cars racing.

Just did another event last night.

Went back to charging $5.00 again. $170 for about 7 hours of racing, 2 hours of setup, 4 hours of driving. It is something, but it needs to make more then this, so I may stop doing events that I have to charge by the race.

It poured rain hard as I was putting things away... rained sideways into the trailer for a few minutes. So far only 2 events in 2018 has NOT rained. NEED awnings....

I found more money on the ground again... Yes I will pick up cash lol. I saw it thinking it was a leaf, then some people walked over it and kicked it, and I saw it was indeed money, I hoped for $100, but it was only $1. Smile

Sometime between the day I went and worked on trailer a few days ago and this event someone added a nice 10+ foot long (over 3 meters) multi lined gouge/scratch along the side of my trailer. Not happy, as it is right were the logo is going, so it will look like crap under the logo and between the letters.

Thanks, things are slowly improving...

Just officially booked a big event in Grand Rapids Michigan, USA.
https://www.facebook.com/events/214384329165923/

Hopefully these guys will become one of my repeat clients and will be doing lots of car related events.

I also have 2 more large events pending, one might involve TV and magazine coverage! -- so I might need a bigger LFS sign in my trailer soon Wink -- but they could still say no, as many have before, so we will see.

At this time I have 0 knowledge of insim, and have been putting it off.
I have only recently figured out the .lfs script files. lol

I would need to read through an entire tutorial on insim or a how to video on how to set it up etc... before I even think about doing it. I am in a "its working" so don't muck it up, situation with using my LFS to do events.

Setting up insim just seems like more than should be needed for a 30 second time delay... I tried making a .bat file with /wait, but it literaly hung the entire instance of LFS until it was done counting.

I would like to see the /rcc_all command become /rcc_all [##] where the ## is the number of seconds it will wait before clearing the race message.

I can then have it display * RACE OVER * wait, clear then display * Thanks for Racing * wait, clear, then display *Please make room for next player! * wait clear, and repeat a few times, for a minute or so then just clear and stop for next race.

Just need a simple easy polite way to tell people to get the frack out of the seat!
