Quote from pipa :Have tried myself a bit on 3dsmax today, but i am very far from what you have done. Really great work again.

I personally didn't get to where I am from one day to another. It's in a way very much like racing. You can do tons of readying on the subject, but in the end experience and routine is needed along with sense/eye for the smallest of details. Heck, I'm still learning - but the day I stop learning will probably also be the day I wont admire 3D any longer. Fortunately I don't see that coming anytime soon.

I would add to my previous reply that lighting is the key in archiving any kind of good renders. Realistic or stylish... doesn't matter. Crap surfaces with good lighting will look like a million. But killer surfaces etc. with crap lighting will look like shit. However that doesn't mean that a good lighting solution is by populating (polluting) the scene with numerous lights. Keep it simple

HDRI lighting is cool and "easy". But it's sloppy too. If you really want (and you should.. you must!) to understand lighting, then you need to get down and dirty with the basics in lighting.

Quote from pipa :WOW they are amazing, thank you very much guys

Quote from buck77 :I also liked your renders very much, raptor!!

CAN I ASK HOW YOU GUYS DO THAT???????????????????????
I want to learn to render too!!

Quote from leonardo555 :Nice ,friend

Thanks.

Buck77:
There is unfortunately no shortcut to create good renders (except for some pre-made scenes and apps specifically designed for such purposes. But it's limited how much they can actually teach you). The best advise I can give is to keep things simple while learning and to experiment. Don't overdo with complicated setups (shaders, lighting, reflections etc. all mixed in the same render). That will only make it harder to "troubleshoot" your renders and slow down the learning process, if you don't understand each step properly. It may sound tedious, but it really isn't.

Leonardo Forcinetti
17th May, 2009
Please welcome our latest (and youngest) member, Leonardo Forcinetti. Leonardo is 13 years old, lives in Brazil where he does competitive karting and plays soccer in his spare time.

Despite our fears that Hugo Luis, who is now the second youngest, might become jealous and suffer an emotional break-down, we have decided to recruit Leo anyway.

Please give Leonardo a big one (teddybear, that is).

Gratz with your purchase - I bet you'll have loads of fun for several hours

I was thrilled at first - very tbh. As written earlier, the depth sensation is there, and it's just lovely to see any LFS car (or any other game) feel as if you could grab them.

Another "problem" with LFS vs. L4D is also distance - even though there are surroundings, most attention is on the road and other cars. The road can't be that special regarding depth, while other cars can often be far enough away for the depth perseption to be minimal.

The darkened view was a little meh at first for me, but became more and more annoying over time. Same with many of the other issues I had.

Ps. It's "funny" how you suddenly can see much more clearer how the content was made - whats "real" and whats fake, like fences or smoke that may look 3D because of texture, but the glasses show no mercy

Don't blend frames when you alter the tempo. Looks bad. Otherwise good vid.

I watched a science program about 3D/Stereoscopic cinemas in Denmark. Two of the things they mentioned:

1. View gets darker (they use projector screens that reflect much more light than an ordinary cinema screen because of this - of cause that's not the same as a monitor, but...)
2. They mentioned ghosting is still there.

I expect the technology used in cinemas, especially in our Planetarium, which have now aired IMAX 3D shows for some years, to be high-end, especially when compared to consumer products. They didn't have anything being top notch among the different types of "glasses" they used, but I'll be interested to have a closer read bout it from some of you guys in here (I don't trust formal reviewers any more when it comes to such devices).

I tried stereoscopic 3D in LFS with eDimensional glasses some years ago (on CRT monitor).

Pros:
Fun to try
Added 3D/depth

Cons:
Darkens the image to an unsatisfactory level - like wearing sunglasses
Ghosting
Was hard on the eyes (since "realistic" settings didn't add much depth, so I overdid them).
Didn't fit well on top of normal glasses.
The cable was very annoying.
Overall build quality was bad.
