video of the actlabs shifter and tripple headtogo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGB6A5GyyEc

hi there, i just watched that video (OMG wot a setup, lol) but theres something i got to ask, there is a voice that keeps saying stuff like :-

"Left side"
"Your in the middle"
"Still there"
"Clear on the right"
"Clear"

This definatley seemed to help him as i didn't see him look left or right once (except for the times when he was clear then he would look 180deg behind).

Is this a mod as i would really love to try this out, cos at the mo i'm having real trouble regaining my bearings when switching views even when i set it to instant, lol

i know theres no substitute for physically looking, but i think it might help me whilst i'm still learning, and it did seem to work for him

thanks in advance
QD

As I said, I see it as a great tool. Not to level the competition or to slown down the fast people but to give the possibility and tool for people who want to use fixed setups.

can we consider it "on the to-do list" then ???? woohooo

i'm dying to run a default set (actually, race_s set) server, it'll be my only chance of ever winning a race online lololol i wish....

QD, racing with a race_s set near u (and loosing gracefully, lmao)

ps.
i really like Patch V btw, with the extra screeching sound i'm finding i can catch the car more easily now, i'm no longer wishing i could afford force feedback at every other bend.... fantastic work guys

to Gimpster & Mr Rogers : I really hope I can truely find the time one day to take on board all this great game (and great community) has to offer, but unfortunatley R/L (ok, and Tac Op's ) doesn't allow this.

& i can't be the only one who just wants to drive!!! lololol

all i am suggesting is that by making "default set" servers, you would be infact creating a sort of "instant Arcade Mode" for LFS, something that I personally feel lacking and much needed (forever-noob, lol). I really do wonder how many people left LFS because they couldn't keep up with the tweaking n stuff. with such a thing i should think many would still be playing LFS and possibly looking forward to paying for S3 as well!!

So whats in it for u guys?....

you'd get your servers back, clean racing 24/7 (theres a dream 4 ya's LOL)

& lets face it, none of your team mates are going to go backwards and say "i'm going back to playing default sets, see ya guy's........" :hihi: :grouphug:

so please not think of it as a community split but a community created

So the default set is bad, sure but it would have to be bad to encourage others to play with the tuning, so for a starting car there not a bad choice at all (and i love 'em, lol). As we all have the default sets already, would i be right in thinking that the server wouldn't have to send us anything?

I wonder just how many people would dig out there wheels, dust off there joysticks, and d/load LFS again to try out this new Arcade Mode !!!!

Default set only server's (wot, like an arcade mode??) YES to that !!!

YES, I would love to see some default setup servers out there

It might just fill the *massive* void for the newbies (like me) between newbie and competent driver

I dont care if its only division 1 (or 2 or 3.. lol) and not the Premership!!

Myself, knowing i will never be as good a driver as probably 99% of yous, would probably play mostly one of these, safe in the knowledge that most of the other peeps playing there are all possibly noobs too only then, when i (or we?) feel confident enough to enter a server with the pro's and hopefully not get vote, vote kicked or vote, vote, banned because we havent trimmed this/ that by 2mm, lol

just my tuppence
QD (the bloke who got vote, vote, banned in July from 3 servers in a row for no fault of his own and has been terrified to play online ever since !!!!)

ps. I know this will not appeal for most / all of you's because your at proffesional level, you most likely have your setups already and have ample knowlege of them, but i don't. and i'm sure i am not the only one. quite frankly, i was prepared to buy this game and run on default setups as tweaking sets is really not my thing ( i love LFS that much ). to not enable such a thing is nothing short of commercial disaster or at least its a big hole where new people are dropping off... (out)

in short, enable server admins the ability to host default set only servers, and i will host my own server. all i ask is that when you join you join with respect for the new and be helpul - offer tips etc and be happy to chill as it wont be the premier league like 99% of servers atm are!!!! lol :hippy:

it would not be fair to mention AI atm as LFS is still after all in beta stages (eagerly awaiting all improvements, lol) just to say between the bots and the bans the gap for newbies the jump is just way toooooo g'ddam big !!! :ices_rofl

:noob:

aps. I don't care how bad my set is, I am not BEGGING a set off anybody
(however, if your offering, i'm sure i'll be very pleased, lmao.....)

I agree with nihill, AI is really needing sorting for us newbs to practice with!!!

i commend your bravery zeugnimod, because whenever i join a server, and make a mistake, it's vote, vote, vote, banned before I've even had a chance to say sorry (or even WTF when it's not my fault) illepall

as things stand, the worst thing i did was pay 24 quid for S2 (after all, i am entitled to my opinion:arge

:tempted:
it may be just me who thinks this, but there seems to be a real "jekle & Hyde" thing going on here . Of all the forums that i follow, u guys here seem to be the most helpfull, the quickest to reply and generally the most freindliest i think i have ever seen in an online comunity.....but ingame, a complete contrast (not pointing any fingers btw )

suffice to say, i didn't pay £24 to hang around a forum!!! :ices_rofl

AI IS IMPORTANT = for ALL noobs (ME included, lol)

I really think sometimes ppl forget sometimes what it is like to be a newbie

Maybe i just got the rough end of the stick, but my S2 experience was just horrible, no newbie servers or any servers that i could find that were even prepared to help me learn ( wot is worse, i thought i was quite a curtious, average driver.... )
......what i found was testostorone, flame flame, more testostorone, you get the idea.

i'm a nice guy really, i don't usually say much but i do love to race, and maybe theres a decent server out there that i missed (haven't played in months but would love too) but i will retry LFS online when the AI is inproved and i can start practicing again.

Truthfully this "vote, vote, ban" doesn't do the ego of *any* newcomers absolutely any good at all :grumpy:

anyways, merry Cristmas all (i do love yawl & LFS really!! lol)

i would probably agree that the sound could be a little better, but i really think that bot AI is far more inportant atm for new peeps.

I have put LFS demo on about 5 machines now and in each case each person wanted to practice offline against bots (as i still do myself, lol) rather than go straight online with the pro's :-).

Its hard enough just learning to drive in this game (well LFS does boast being one of the best driving sim's ever concieved, and quite rightly so), but to be rammed by a bot at the first bend, or last, or any other bend for that matter is just plain annoying.

I'm not asking for them to be perfected, but there are two things that really, REALLY important and IMO need to be looked at:-

1. bots need to be able to see you and brake/swerve rather than ramming you off the track.

2. bots need to make space for you when overtaking and not force you onto the grass, lol

Apart from these two points, i love the bots, LMAO :-P

.... suffice to say, out of the five machines i have installed LFS on, none of them are playing anymore - i really do think without the learning support the bots could be offering offline, online play for newbies (and all the heated noob comments / voting / slagging that entrails) is very little fun at all.

just my tuppence :-)

QD

ps. did i mention THE SOUND !!!! lol

aps. nice work guys on a most wiked game, it rocks my world :-D
