Taster Video

On the 19th March 2010, the GP55 Circus rolls into the beautiful landscape that is the Eifel Mountains for a Special Stage
of the Grand Prix 55 championship.

Consisting of a 2 hour challenge around the infamous Nordschleife, drivers are going to be tested to the limits on their
endurance, stamina, and mental agility to keep on top of the W196's unpredictable handling.

And what reward will these challengers receive for completing the race? Apart from pride, very little, as this round will
not count towards the final championship standings. However, each driver that completes 100% of the race distance
will receive a GP55 Competitor medal as a permanent reminder of the feats they achieved.

So if you are ready to take on the Green Hell, then head over to the DBP Forums HERE and follow the instructions to sign up.

Oh yes definitely. It's just a shame that they're in such a powerful position yet they don't use it for the good of the sport.

Ferrari have decided to make enemies rather than friends this season, disrespecting new teams who are trying to bring new life into the sport....

I think the best response I could provide to yourself and the people you race with is to view section 1.4 the Rules of Clean Racing in the lfsmanual.

After reading that note, what really captures me more than anything is that the news channels, forums and most people will just sweep this under the carpet, and forget about it.
Quickly concluding that this person was just "one dude" as someone so kindly put it.

But for someone to by physically driven to such an extreme act by one law, or one legislation shows that this has to be taken seriously, it has to be looked at thoroughly and a change should be contemplated.

I too feel like this person sometimes, I look around and wonder why I do it. And I'm 22.

I've had this problem of late and decided upon the Mazda 6. Very tidy car, good looking, reliable, and most importantly, it isn't a Mondeo.

Best of luck. It's a buyers market!

That is amazing! Is there a thread for the next era? (90's) as you can't search the forum unless you're registered.

Round One Race Report

February 12th 2010 marks the inaugural round of the Grand Prix 55 Championship.
Following 2 nights of testing it appeared the two quickest drivers were dbp Skinny and dbp Kringle, both of whom were able to fire the Mercedex 196 around the Buenos Aires circuit in 2:23's. With the rest of the field in close company, everything was set to make an exciting race.

Friday came, and joined by members of the Gentlemans Racers Club, the grid lined up with dbp Kringle on pole as a result of dbp Skinny unable to attend the event. The revs rised and the grid got underway, albeit sideways into turn one. Positions remained very much the same as the high quality of driving resulted in no incidents for the first 10 laps.

That was until on lap 12, when dbp Stoney outbraked himself at the tight hairpin, sending his car up and over the back wheel of dbp Dink.
After recovering from that accident he swerved to avoid a spinning car, spearing him into the pit wall entrance and removing his front right wheel.
Undetered, he battled on, being cautious of blue flags and gave it his all, bringing the car home to a 6th place finish, only 4 laps down.

(ouch)

Back to the front of the field, and things were hotting up, with the front tyres not gripping, and large volumes of fuel sloshing around in the rear, dbp Flip set a new personal best, putting considerable pressure on dbp Maff who in turn remained at a steady 8 seconds behind dbp Kringle.

Despite the swapping of fastest laps, it was dbp Kringle who brought the car home in 1st place, catching the fastest lap and earning himself 16 points in the process, followed by dbp Maff who took a brilliant 2nd from dbp Flip who captured the final podium position.

Keeping in the shadows and out of harms way was GRC racer Steve Martin, who improved his pace considerably during the race, bringing the car home in a superb 4th place, earning him 8 points in the process. A very strong drive from him.

So onwards and upwards, as we leave Argentina to recover, we are already looking ahead to the next event in Germany for a Special Event at the Nordschleife, in which drivers who complete the 2 hours special will receive a Medal to hang up with pride.

All drivers are welcome, fast or slow, providing you are a clean and courteous racer.

To find out more, visit the dbp forums or see the original post in this thread!

Until March 19th...

Kringle

Dear LFS Forums.

Having been in LFS personally for many years, running the Clean Racers Club, Ready4Racing (R4R), Peregrinus (^P^) and RaceSIM Servers. (Yes I get around a bit :shy I have grown tired and saddend by the lack of life in this sim, and have since ventured into rfactor.

To help spice up the racing I am asking YOU my LFS friends and fellow racers to join me in something a little different.

Of the rules that are posted, they are here to help preserve the safety and enjoyment of everyone in the server.

Strictly No Contact - These cars are fragile!
If you gain an unfair advantage, then you must give back that place to the impeded driver.
If you spin and your car is off track, then wait until there are no oncoming cars before rejoining.
If you spin and your car is ON track, then stay absolutely stationary. Let others find a way around you instead of becoming a moving chicane.
Once all traffic has passed you may correct and rejoin your car.

No talking during sessions (quali, and race). Only when it is practice and warmup that you may talk.
Also, the Race Director will speak just before the session begins. He will be using CAPITALS,
and all talking must stop when he speaks. Important information is being given.

How To Enter:
Step1: Register To The DBP Forums - http://www.drivenbypassion.org/forum/
Step2: Navigate to the Signup Thread (dbpEvents> Grand Prix 55> Signups)
Step3: Download the Mod & Tracks - http://www.dbpfs.com/gp55/dbpGP55.exe
Step4: Complete 5 single player laps of the Buenos Aires circuit at a competent pace without going off track. (Actual Laptime is irrelevant)
Step5: Post and attach you replay to the Signups Thread.
Step6: Replay is then checked and a login is created for our in-house Race Control Software.
Step7: Log in to our Race Control and sign up for individual rounds, where the server name and password will be revealed to you. http://www.racecontrol.me/

Understandably this looks like a lot, but it only takes 10minutes, and it ensures that all drivers are of an acceptable quality.

Once again, I'd like to offer and invitation to you all to join me for something a little different.

And if that doesn't work, well there's an 11 inch chrome trophy up for grabs!!!!
