Quote from STROBE :they feature a substantial report on the usual great unwashed protesting around London (isn't that causing a traffic jam, and thus making more CO2?).

that's another major gripe of mine. News says 20,000 people marched in London today. Of course, being so concerned about the environmental damage being done by evil man and evil CO2 they all walked or cycled there...did they heck!

Quote from Gav190 :It could be argued that Chernobyl was actually good for the environment, sure humans can't live there but the wildlife is thriving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud33w26qsWQ

It actually had a positive effect on humans as well. The vast majority who weren't exposed to harmful/lethal levels of the radiation have shown a marked decrease in forms of cancer, as the radiation killed off any cancerous cells that may have taken root in their bodies.

Quote from flymike91 :oh now ur all pissed off cuz u finally realized were lied to. i got flamed for saying man made global warming was a hoax

I've known it all along that we've been defrauded along with the governments throwing endless pits of money at a nonexistant problem.

Quote from Shotglass :i thought we had all worked out already that the ipcc is a rather useless highly biased political organisation?
ive said before that the whole politics angle is completely moot

that it is, but we're talking about the importance of the CRU, not the IPCC. The CRU at the UEA forms basically the backbone of the IPCC's claims, so the buck stops with the CRU. The CRU inform, influence and deliver advice and predictions to the IPCC, so any bias originates not just from the IPCC itself but more importantly from the root cause, the CRU.

More on the BBC's refusal to follow any story that goes against the party line...I watched the Channel 4 12 midday news earlier and the main headline was that the so-called 'grandfather of climate change' has said he wishes the Copenhagen summit to fail, and that it is based on totally wrong principles. Ah, I thought, I'd best watch the BBC News at 1 to see what they make of this...and, surprise surprise, nothing. Absolutely no mention made of it whatsoever.

Quote from wien :Back up what exactly? That scientists are in fact human? You've built such an elaborate strawman to argue here it's hard to keep up what statements you've attributed to Shotglass this time.

I'm sure a list of points you would like him to refute would help.

I, and I'm sure others, would appreciate some sort of back-up, scientific evidence or otherwise, as to why he thinks our arguments are rubbish when we have provided all sorts of evidence, and the only evidence he has provided has been a frankly useless Venus comparison. He is the one who said we weren't entitled to hold an opinion because, unlike him, we weren't involved in 'the science', but so far there has been no 'science' demonstrated by him whatsoever.

....and you've repeatedly ignored requests to actually back up what you've been saying with some sort of science, not just mumbo-jumbo and pitiful excuses. Shocking attitude from someone who said that we weren't entitled to an opinion because we didn't have knowledge of 'the science'.

It's impossible to replicate most of the studies performed by the group as, because of their primitive data storage system anything pre-1980 was deleted because they didn't have the capacity to store it. So what it comes down to is them saying 'trust us', which we can't do any more....

It also explains why they were giving people the runaround with FOI requests, because they didn't have the data! Now that's not an excuse for them, au contraire it's worse because you'd think a world-renowned research group would have adequate storage.

Quote from Electrik Kar :Hacking data is a criminal offence. FOI obstructions due to withholding or deleting information are serious offences which need to be investigated. Which basics am I failing to understand?

Hacking is. Whistleblowing or leaking information isn't (yet!) although it will in all likelihood lose you your job.

As far as conflicts of interest go, if the people doing the enquiry come from the place at the epicentre of all of this, that is a major conflict.

those people arent public figures as such theyre paid for by the university so if they dont do their jobs properly they really have no one but their bosses to answer to

and of course, there won't be a single tiny jot of conflict of interest there will there?

Just wanna say it's great to read you Sam. Choice of words is great and you seem to hit on target every single time. I think you represent the silent majority of "deniers". The moderate ones we never see/hear in the mass media.

Yeah props to Sam for being so much more eloquent than me
