Errmm, you'll have to jog my memory. Midtown Madness 2, the original Xbox ? Paris and Washington ? bit of a crazy game, but fun.

If so, then yeah i was on Xbox Live all the time, although mainly with PGR 2 (think it was version 2 anyway) Then moved to Forza motorsports. Would meet up with a regular bunch of guys on there a few years back, we even formed a team. But i can't for the life of me remember the team name, or my Xbox Live id

Quote from Racer X NZ :How about the theory that it was bottom up, there were numerous reports of explosions etc just before it fell. They've found traces of thermite on the miniscule amounts of steel that wasn't removed ( without permitting any testing ! ). The seismic evidence points to major demolition charges going off just milliseconds before it collapsed and film footage shows the central pillor going first.

From what I have learned the main supports in the basement were taken out with SADDAMs ( google it ! ), then every second level from the top down were taken out with thermite cutting charges. If you study footage of the collapse you can see these going off.
The other interesting thing is if you do the research there was even opportunity to place the charges 6 months prior to 911.
Also, the company charged with the cleanup are called Controlled Demolition.

About a year ago i was really into all this 9/11 conspiracy stuff, and spent many months researching it all. At first i soaked up all the "Truthers" side of things, and believed a lot of them. But then thought it would be wise to research all the "Debunkers" claims too.

Whilst there are still many many unanswered and unexplained events both before, during and after the events of 9/11, i simply don't buy the vast majority of 9/11 conspiracy claims. Unfortunately i forget the vast majority of the facts and figures supporting the debunkers so i can't wax lyrical on the various reasons against the controlled demolitions theory for example.

There's plenty of info out there, so please don't simply take sides because it fits with your own personal opinion of "The American Way" Do your own research, get both sides of the argument and then hopefully make the right choice. Collate and then evaluate, don't just postulate and then propagate. (yeah ok that little rhyme doesn't actually say anything, but at the time of writing i thought it sounded cool :tilt

Do your own research and don't just take everyones word as gospel truth, least of all in here.

Just found some awesome pictures on the net, http://www.scribd.com/doc/2824 ... photos-of-the-Twin-Towers

Obviously they add nothing to the ongoing argument, but pics 4 and 5 really put into perspective what this is all about

--

One question about the fall of the towers. If it was a controlled demolition, then it could only have been a top down job. Every other one i've seen has been from the bottom up. If it was a top down job, then synchronising every level to blow at exactly the right time must have called for one hell of an experienced demolitions expert. And as far as i'm aware, no demolitions experts have stated it could have been done this way with so much precision, and without preparing the building before hand. Every other controlled demolition there's ever been has required the building to be completely gutted before being brought down.

Quote from wien :Personally I think the main reason Vinyl often sounds better than CD is that they usually don't get raped by modern mastering processes. There's actual dynamic range on Vinyl, letting sounds that need a bit of headroom (drums for instance) pop out much more easily. I don't think there's an album released on a major label in the last 10 years that hasn't made my head throb after about 10 minutes of listening. I just can't stand it.

I'm far too much of a lazy git to read the entire thread, so if someone's already said this, then my apologies.

But, the reason vinyl sounds better is because your ears work in analogue not digital I don't understand it enough to explain it, but, that's the main reason afaik.

I've never been a fan of CD's mp3 or the like since the day they came on the scene. Give me an old diamond headed needle covered in fluff any day of the week.

Well, it's one of these "If you want to believe then it's best to ignore all the debunking stuff out there" scenarios.

My own opinion is, yeah some things did seem a bit odd, i.e Bush's strange day http://s3.amazonaws.com/911tim ... ssayaninterestingday.html, and other questions have yet to be answered to any satisfactory level, like, when exactly did the American government sanction the invasion of Afghanistan http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/preplanned.html . But, theories like, the buildings being brought down by planned demolition and a missile being fired at the Pentagon are utterly ridiculous.

But, i tend to think that 9/11 was more of a second Pearl Harbour, rather than a second Reichstag.

Yeah, i really really don't wanna hijack Scawens thread here, but it's not a serious addition, and only meant to be a bit of light relief from all the hard work and long hours he's putting in at the moment.

Hopefully he'll see the humour in it and have a laugh, if he can read it that is

Here's the first half of the Geordie translation, if you like it i'll do the other half tomorrow (not got the time right now)

I think it's about time poor old Bob learnt the language of his chosen nation, he's been here long enough. And i though it might give him some sort of idea of what the hell we're saying too each other when he over hears us Geordies in the pub.

And it might be a good idea for those going to the LFS cart meeting this year to learn the language, might even stop some of them from getting beaten up.

Quote from Polyracer :If you believe in god then maybe you believe in reincarnation too - but chances are if you don't belieive in god then you probly don't believe in reincarnation too - since they are both unatural.

Well yeah, that's the very paradox within Buddhism itself, or at least the particular branch i was in.

And i must admit i sometimes wonder what she's doing now (even after all these years, 15 or so) She was a real babe, kinda like, a good looking version of Cate Blanchette

Interestingly enough, the leader of the group i was with was Hilton Valentine. You being an old timer will know who that is Polyracer

Ergh HVS5b, dunno mate, if you look at the spread of points being scored each race there's about 300 between first and last, so all you need is a couple of good races and for the guys ahead of you to have a few bad'uns. And again it's all down to team choices. Do you put all your eggs in one basket and hope that team has a really good race, or do you spread your team over several F1 teams in the hope of a consistent but low points haul ?

I'm 23rd atm, but i've still got my eye one the top step. But then again, i've always been a bit of an over ambitious optimistic

Don't know about anyone else, but it's really changed the way i'm watching the race's this year. The last race i really wanted Kubica to win, but i had him down for P3 and Massa for the win in the bets section. So half of me wanted Massa to stuff it into the wall, and the other half wanted Kimi to pass Kubica ! And, i've never been a particular fan of Fisichella, but this year i'm cheering him on hoping the guys infront of him bin it....it's all very odd I'm not looking forward to the day when Alonso becomes the best choice for my team

@Ziggy, dunno mate ? maybe it's based on position in the league. Something like 1% difference for every 5 places or so ? Maybe we'll get a better idea if more folks tell us what they're paying.

The thing with Buddhism these days is that over the many centuries and the great distances it's traveled, it's split into so many different schisms and schools of thought, it's really difficult to pin it down as to what it's true meaning is and what direction it's taking.

I dabbled with Buddhism for about 5 or 6 years in my late teens/early 20's (although i should point out that my main objective within the religion was to get inside a particular womans knickers ! and before anyone asks, yes i did, and it was a very nice place to be, thank you very much :tilt

But the one question i never got a satisfactory answer too was, "If there is no God, then who exactly decides who or what you're gonna be when you get reincarnated ?" Apparently, if you've been a good person in this life, you'll be born into a nice peaceful wealthy family in the next. But if you've been a bad person, you'll come back as a dung beetle or a slimy slug or something in the next. Well, who or what is it that decides if you've been good or bad ?

Quote from Noccy :Wish people stopped giving the answers away.
The Bahrein waard question was allready spoiled and if u give all the names or mention 'it's driver 1' ..where is the challenge?

Bah, stop being such a grumpy old git

To be honest 2.5 mill aint gonna make that much of a difference, and that question would be next to impossible to answer for our younger viewers.

As always it's down to the team selection and how many points are won in the race itself being the important factor. And if anyone's got any Super Aguri kit in their team i'd suggest they change it a.s.a.p, seems as though the promised financial deal has fallen through, and they may not be at the next race

Honestly ?

Wow, ok, i'm not giving anything away here, but for those who don't know 2 is Rene Arnoux, 3 is Johnny Herbert and 4 is the young Berger-miester himself, Gerhard, before his hair fell out Oh and number 1 is of course 'Don' Andretti himself

Quote from wsinda :On a more serious note, I think you should be very careful when attributing some act to religion, even when the actor says he did it in the name of his faith. Did the Crusaders go to war for their faith? Or were they eager for brawls, booze and babes? Probably all of the above, but it sells better if you say you're fighting in the name of your god. Religion is a handy pretext.

Obviously the 'grunts' in the army we'rnt to bothered who, what or why they were fighting. As long as they earnt more money and ate better than they would if they stayed in their usual employment. But, if you look into the history of the crusades, you'll find most of them were initiated from the Kings devotion to both the Pope and their faith, and a resolution to convert the known world to Christianity by fair means or fowl.

Wow, it's kinda refreshing to see someone on eBay actually telling the truth, even though you'll be taking a hit financially Good on yer.

I've had various guitars/basses/stringed instruments for nigh on 30yrs now, but i've never come across a rosewood nut before ?? I've heard of a diamondwood nut, but only on top of the range kit, are you sure it's not some sort of cheap urea resin with a wood colour swirly dye in it ? I can't imagine a rosewood nut would work at all, and even if it did, it would be expensive to make. Then again, if it's German, then anythings possible.

OT, those strange instruments in my above post came from this site http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/index.html .Some weird and wonderful stuff in there, well worth a look

Here's that Dutch documentary that caused so much controversy a while back, part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kphomfZKsRg&NR=1 and part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=MNdP34JcQzw

There are some unpleasant scenes in it so be warned.

One of the messages in the film, is that it's up to the individuals within Islam itself to root out all the nut-jobs that think it's perfectly acceptable behaviour to blow themselves up on a crowded commuter train, or fly a passenger jet into a tower block. But, the danger is this level of thinking is becoming ingrained into young Muslims minds that they really are starting to think it's God's calling. Another thing is that the Western Governments are fueling this behaviour with unacceptable foreign policies, and before long any hope of returning to some sort of harmonious peace between the cultures will be long gone. But then again, a massive world war is a really good way to cut back on the worlds population, and a smaller population is much easier to control, especially if they're all singing from the same hymn book.

When you've got two of the worlds main religious bodies at logger-heads, and both are hell bent on world domination, then there's only one conclusion, conflict, war, mucho death and destruction.

It's not a new concept. The Holy Crusades of the 11th to 13th century were essentially an attempt to rid the world of every other faith (especially the Muslims) by this peace loving Christianity we've heard so much about.

Yunno, since the beginning of civilisation, this world has never known a time without religion, and there's never been any meaningful period of time without war or conflict. Maybe we should try an experiment for a few years, and see what would happen if we didn't have any form of religious ideal whatsoever. Global anarchy, or global harmony ?
