But overall a sim no matter what it is just a sim. lfs can help you understand car controll, weight distribution, etc but chances are even with a wheel you would not be able to drift a real car. Though it might give you a head start in understanding the fundamentals of what to do.

when i 1st started drifting i was linking corners pretty much right away thanks to LFS, learned from using a G25 in LFS

it helps alot, 2 of our top drifters here used to drift in LFS to

As for old school stuff, I also agree. There is *NOTHING* else quite like riding in torque monster muscle cars with sloppy suspensions, bare bones interiors, no ergonomics, no sound deadening, etc. As one of my friends said while riding in my dad's Chevelle, it's just like a roller coaster ride. Especially when well over 400ftlbs of torque slams you back in the seat!

idk, ive been in some nice muscle cars befor and was nothing compared to going sideways in the hills in a light modded S13 silvia, its fun going fast in a straight line, its more fun going fast around corners:P

1/4 mile isnt everything, any car with decent power can do a good 1/4 mile, turning corners is a different story:P tbh thats why i like Euro and Japanese cars more then US cars

Australian cars are just plan fail tho lol, ppl here seem to think putting a big V8 in a family car makes a good sports car:P

Quote from kingcars :Keep reading the post...it's making a lot more than that now. But yes, back in the 80s when all the emissions regulations were really coming into play, companies were having a hard time making horsepower. The 5.0 Mustang of the same year was the first car to really become "fast" again, putting out 225hp and running mid/low 14 1/4 mile times stock for a cheap price. Since Ford couldn't have the Tbird outmuscling the Mustang, they choked the engine up with a horrible cam, restrictive heads and intake, and a different computer, putting it down to 155hp. Look back at horsepower ratings in the 70s and 80s...it was normal. Heck, there are 400ci+ big blocks at times only putting out ~175hp. It was a completely different time when those were built...you simply can't compare them to the stuff we have today, after 15-20 years of technology advancement.

here.

back in the 80's my little Toyota 4AGE 16valve made 110-130hp from a 1.6l 4cly engine lol, wasnt that companys couldnt build engines it was ford imo:P

you car sounds good tho

p.s.: Jakg, I guess you're right. But well, that's devs lose. They achieved something very hard to achieve, realistic oversteer physics. It's their choice to put it down to waste.

yep it really does suck, bar far the best drifting sim made (cant think of any other game that gets near to having realistic oversteer physics) and there is no support for us, even cruising gets more notice from the devs

Quote from Wombatclay :V8 Supercars...... great for the game, 680hp sedans Holden and Ford. They have a few classes so u could offer a demo, S1 & S2 version. And Bathurst is a track to consider as it would have to be the most challenging circut for GT cars, with the use of the 7L V8 Holden Monaro.... Australia have some great cars that can put a Porche to shame!

i loled

looks like the steering is laggy, like he moves the wheel then it takes alittle for the car to do it

i hope they fix some of the models like the R32 GTR because the front of that looked nothing like it does in real life, also hope there are some better rims this time, in forza 2 the rims look crappy and have bad offsets:P

Quote from Exile R :http://www.gran-turismo.com/en/movie/d3284.html

they kinda blew it back up in forzas face didnt they?

far from it imo, Forza 3 announcement was alot bigger then a video that doesnt show to much and we dont know if the GT5 trailer is even gameplay or not

we also have a release date for Forza and nothing yet for GT5

Quote from trebor901 :GT5 Prologue sucks, since when can you drift an F1 car? they drift as a normal car would.

drifting is something GT has failed at since number 4, there is a huge flaw in the pysics when it comes to making them slide

sucks that my G25 doesnt work on xbox or i might play forza abit more:P maybe i'll have to buy another wheel when it comes out

Quote from amp88 :Do you use more throttle at the apex or on the corner exit when drifting? Almost everything I've experienced and seen tells me you should use less throttle at corner exit. If you keep the same amount of throttle at the corner exit as you do at the apex you tend to over-rotate the car which can cause tank slapping.

using to much throttle isnt what causes tank slapping like MAD3.0LT said its how you unwind the steering, do it to slow or hold the steering then it will do it

also most of the time i use less throttle mid corner then i do at the exit

Quote from Blackout :Yeah, can't wait. I'm a bit worried they've might have moved too much to direction of the NFS crowd, but the message on the page tries to convince the playability should still be there. I hope it still is, let's wait and see.

it would suck if they ruined Forza by trying to get the NFS crowd

Quote from BigPeBe :I hate the fact that I may be sticking my nose in middle of an argument over here, but...

Actually for what I believe, the fastest drag cars have some kind of manual transmissions. Automatic can perform really good on dragstrip, but the fastest ones I believe use a hydraulic transmission, with usually 3 different gears which are changed manually. Tho this is more like semi-auto, so to judge if it's auto or manual is a different story then. But well at least it's a "stick shift".

All I know that I'm happy driving with manual everyday, wouldn't change a thing in it.

even with auto gearboxes you move the stick to change gear when racing (dont just leave it in drive), its all about how fast it shifts, auto's can shift alot faster then someone having to push the clutch, change gear then let go of the clutch

Quote from Not Sure :A "drift car" so that drifters would finally shut up about it, and it would be easier to filter those servers out.

a drift car is pretty much a race car, in LFS they would be the same thing just change setup and make the car have some decent lock (like 40+ steering lock)

the skylines a straight six turbo, the evos a inline 4 turbo.. skyline is heavier, but still, the torque should of given you an advantage ( if the evo missed a shift you'd win straight out )

But it sadly didn't happen.

RB20's are pretty gutless compared to the 4G63 from Evo's, evo would make more torque

this imo

Evo8 vs a R32 GTS-T (non-GTR R32's arent fast without some work) and he still keeps up with it pretty good

also i wouldnt want to shift to fast with a shitty RB20 gearbox to, seen so many of them getting killed lol

Quote from Hallen :OK, good to know. I just assumed that nobody would be stupid enough to go out and burn up perfectly good, new, race tires for drifting. What a waste. A good set of used up R888's maybe, but it would seemingly be better to just grab any old discount tire that's harder than a rock. But, obviously I know nothing about the fine display that drifting is.

good old elitist racers  grip is everything for drifting, why not get a good new tyre that will last longer and get more grip then some old cheapo tyre

You can't actually control high angle drifts because it has only 36 degrees of steering - You've got to be ****ing kidding me. It's 720 degrees max... :|
