Sometimes it's hard to find somewhere people aren't going to get all snobby. Persistence pays off eventually. I just wish there weren't quite so many unpleasant people.
Ryanry64: 3DS Max 7, I think it's the raytracing, I turned a few things up.
XCNuse: As I said, I'm not happy with the glass. At least you can see through it both ways now and it doesn't refract everything like the bottom of a beer bottle. I'll get it eventually. It makes sense, you can see through it but it's there - it's bound to confuse things. I'll try your suggestion, thanks.
I've been playing with mesh smoothing too - there's a lot to learn.
I'm learning. I've only been at it a week but I think it's getting there. I'm not satisfied with the tyres or the glass yet. I've seen some nice work here, I'm sure people will be happy to tell me what else is wrong.
I had a girlfriend, now we're friends. We argued quite a lot at one point but recently she's been much nicer. If it carries on like this I'm thinking of letting her out of the cupboard soon.
I watched the WR replay of BL1 in FXR, got the setup (bloc106 or something, I've fiddled with it a little) and got from 1:16 to today's low of 1:09.98 - when my DFP gets here I'm hoping to improve further... Amtrak says it's on its way.:woohoo:
If it happens repeatedly it's probably a bad omen for your disc drive, unless you've been doing non-MS things to your partition table, then it might just be them being picky. Just in case, after RTFM, the next word is BACKUP.
If all wheels were the same then appearance would be a valid basis for preference. I'm getting the impression they're not. Once I buy a wheel I'll most likely turn off the screen wheel.
The DFP is more sensitive than the MOMO then? I looked in the 'wheels' forum but didn't get a clear impression, other than that people ask the question a lot. Objective evidence is hard to come by. I imagine someone will now direct me to the post I was looking for.
At the moment the UK selection at Logitech doesn't include the G25. I'll write to them, I'm sure some lying scumbag - sorry, salesperson will be happy to send me loads of blurb.
I should have picked a shorter name. I was filling in the form and I tried a few things which were all taken, then found my form-filling threshhold, which isn't very high, I'll admit. Given the choice, I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a stick than fill in a form.
In the options I notice you can choose not to have the wheel on the screen. Once you have your new wheel, why not turn off the one on the screen? Then you can see the dashboard. You won't need the visual feedback from the wheel on screen as you'll have one in front of you.
I noticed that - it also tends to pull to one side when you brake. The joystick eventually developed a twitch, so that as you brought it back to centre after the corner it would suddenly jump from full lock to full lock, very fast. Not good.
