Very nice racing indeed. Too bad I decided to put "tyre change at 10% wear" - it probably cost me 1 - 2 positions because all four tyres got changed :/

P.S.: Thanks again for organizing and hosting this event.

I'm in as well if nothing unexpected comes up.

Maybe not as fast but with more laps (25). It ranges from 1:10 to 1:12 laps with reasonable tyre and suspension wear.

Be aware though that because of the ballast my car is understeering pretty badly at times.

Have you tried the hotlap-replays yet?

Quote from J@tko :But you can use this to your advantage by drifting into the bends

True. But I find it difficult to keep the car from Understeering once it starts to drift. Hence I drive more or less straight into the bend and then gradually apply soft left-foot braking through the corner.

It seems to work quite nice for me - I practiced 25 laps today and got stable mid 1:10's with the best being around 1:10.1 - 1:10.4.

Assuming you're driving the XFG:

Try to not drift too much. Since the XFG is a front wheel drive the only thing you achieve by excessive drifting is that your car gets slower without being able to be closer to the inside of a bend.

What basically happens is this: Your car starts oversteering. Once you step on the throttle the car begins to understeer and you start going away from the inside of a bend which in the end means that you've lost speed without gaining the advantage of a shorter travel around the bend.
Try to be a bit slower so that the car does not oversteer excesively. That way you a) can be closer to the inside of a bend and b) you can step on the throttle sooner without the fear to lose your line in excessive understeer because your car is not extremely sideways to your driving line and also a bit slower thus allowing you to maintain a much more stable driving line.

At least that's what I'm doing. If anyone has better suggestions - please go ahead

Well - turns out that I drove one of my 'miracle laps' again with ballast and managed a 1:10.13 (it was even hotlap-valid). Of course I haven't been able to reproduce it but it seems like I have the hairpin a bit better under control, running steady 1:10.5 - 1:10.9 laps.

Quote from Fastwalker :mm i dont have any suspension problems i think
i tend to over-rev the engine a bit tho on downshift
resulting in some popcorn sounds later on

meh 1:09.58 again

low 1:10, high 1:09 mostly every lap ^^

Heh - I think I'll be happy if I finish in the top 8 :b

Although my Split times aren't bad (32.2 - 32.6) - but that last hairpin....
Either those 19kg are really bad in that last hairpin or I horribly suck driving hairpins.

Just wait until you see the suspension damage on the reverse-track :b

Although I have to admit that I was able to reduce the tyre and suspension damage significantly. The clutch isn't a problem either. With that I was reaching stable 1:11.xx - 1:12.xx.

Apparently I haven't forgotten everything that I learned from my RBR times :icon23:

Although you managed to spell my name wrong twice. I'm not sure though if it's not a homage to Timo's Broadcast of Round 4 :b

(Btw: Where's the Race Report for Round 4?!??)

Well - I haven't been able to get to that time again so far. I always seem to be able to squeeze out a very fast time and then keep pondering how on earth I managed to do that :/

Not to mention that I probably fail in the race again haha.

I managed to get a 1:10.66 with 15kg ballast. The right front tyre didn't look too well after ten laps though - nor did the suspension...
Is there a restriction on where we can drive in this round? Because HLVC is super-restrictive on this one (touch the grass and it's invalid).

By the way: The server is password protected again with the infamous unknown password :b

Quote from Timdpr :I hit those tyres too, after you thumped them onto the track! Spun, lost a place.

That was a different time I think. Sorry about that. I lost my concentration the longer the race went

I hit the tyre wall at the end for no good reason, lost control of the car, broke my suspension and lost a potential 3rd place. I'd say I receive the "Idiot of the Race"-award for that one.

Also sorry for that bump at the start Yann.

Haaa - see. You're already faster than me :b I just managed a 57.88 once (although I haven't practiced since and it was with 15kg instead of 9). This might get a really interesting Round. Really looking forward to it.

Really? I just left the gears as they are haha.

For me it doesn't really matter but after reading Deko's point I tend to say that we should start earlier (even if it means that I have to race with an empty belly - or start cooking at 16:00 UCT+2 ).

Quote from Dizzydarryn :Thats seriously good going... i havent practiced at all since last weekend so im gonna be chasing u this time!!!

Im gonna back others making mistakes and getting bored over 32 laps

Haha - well - I hope I can stay out of any crash this time. I guess I like slow cars on short tracks with tricky corners. I remember that famous roll-corner in Round 2 heh.

I'm sure you'll be hitting the 57.xx as well - can't really believe that I'm faster

I finally went below the 58s mark yesterday with 15 kg ballast. Hopefully I won't get more ballast. The car behaves like it's on rails now

If you don't treat the "corner" as a corner then I agree. However if it is a corner then Car 111 might have anticipated the turn in and should've given the right of the line to Car 50 - or do I see it wrong?

Although looking at it again I have to agree that car 50 should've seen that car 111 was almost gone from the mirrors indicating that he had gained enough distance to be next to him.
I'm glad I don't have to make these decisions - heh.

Quote from dekojester :The Lap 1, Race 2 incident involving cars 111 and 50.

Out of curiosity (and maybe also for future reference):

Why doesn't rule V.1.a (The inside car has to have significant overlap over the outside car to have the rights in the corner) in the NDR sporting code apply in this situation? Because in that case car 50 would've had the rights in that corner and would've been eligible to cut the corner?

Would anyone be interested to do a practice race in FP1 or FP2 on Saturday/Sunday?

I think we can start a race when on the server like in FP1 for Round 4. I'm not sure to how many laps it is set at the moment but it wouldn't be necessary to do a 32 lap race - a 10 lap race would be sufficient.

At least for my part, I would rather practice racing than hot-lapping - after all: We all can practice fast laps offline
