the 9600gt is a pretty good card. I just put together a 2ndary computer with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+, 2gigs DDr800 ram, and a 9600 GT, mobo, and a new case. only cost me $370 shipped. Parts should be here Wednesday.

me and some north east guys were running practices yesterday. Drop in there once in a while and see if they are running a practice or planning on jumping into a skippy race. I think i might try and catch a race at 10:15, but i have work to do... maybe 12:15 EST

^ yeah it's a lot of fun. Wait until you get fast and consistent in the solstice and legends before moving onto the faster cars. when you get to 4.0 rookie rating, you can race the faster cars.

I've finally broken into the mid 59 second range w/ the skippy in my 1st race. I think most of my laps were mid 59's. There's still lots of room for improvement though.

I'm about to run my 1st skippy race I just hope i don't crash or take anyone out. I'm not up to pace yet, so this will be baptism by fire

Anyone got a really fast setup for limerock with the skip barber car?

i got my irating up to 4.41 today, so I can race the skippy! First i want to get my lap times down though, and I need to find a good setup since I'm a bit clueless about setups.

You may need after market cooling depending on your goals, try and not use too much voltage if you can avoid it.

I'm not quite sure why anyone would go with a phenom at this point unless they already had an AM2+ mobo. I made the jump from a sempron to a wolfdale simply because there was nothing from AMD as strong p4p.

I'm happy w/ my Fanatech Porsche 911 wheel right now, and I just don't have the budget for something like this. Maybe if I was building some sort of simulator and charging people to use it, I'd buy one.

That's not a fair criticism. Maybe you were a complete newb with LFS, and you took the skills you learned from LFS and they transferred well over to iRacing.

It would be like if i raced bikes for 5 years and and I was surprised that driving another bike was easy to me.

I'd try to get a Nvidia 9600GT over a 3850. they are about the same price if you look around, and the 9600 is better. 7200 is a very good cpu.

Well, you've made a few mistakes. 1st, the default cars are garbage. rFactor is a game designed to be run with mods. There are some great mods like the Historix GT and Touring Car Mod.

yeah, everyone here should just calm down and go about their business. Look how long it took for us to get interiors updated, and not even all of the interiors are done. How long will it take them to get a whole car done to their satisfaction? If it comes early, it's a pleasant surprise, if it takes another year, I won't be incredibly surprised. Maybe the devs have been working on this car for a while, and it's now just been leaked that the car will be in LFS.

My 430 watt 73% efficency rated thermaltake never really gave me any problems on my old system, but i think for that system, you may want an 80%+ psu? You should be okay, I guess.

Have you researched that specific power supply and all the other parts?, also, if you plan on getting vista 64-bit, you should get 4 gigs of ram.

the 4850 is a great card. its faster than a 3870x2 or about as fast in most games.
