my race-report is short:

i had the wrong setup in qualifying because i put more interest in other people driving then my qualifying setup... anyway... in the sprint race i could gain a few spots and managed to get into the main race.

i started somewhere from the back (14 or 15th) and gained a few spots in the first cautions, which were kind of interesting, kind of stupid, because some of the drivers did not manage do accelerate out of Turn 2 without spinning and crashing. i could pass most of the accidents most of the times and was pretty much some where in the top 8 i think.

in one of the phases i hit someone in the file because he was lagging for 2 seconds and when he came back, he was right in front of me, i think there was no big damage done. during one of the cautions i also got hit,and managed to go into pits. so i lost nothing there besides the places.

the worst part came when i got sand-witched at the exit of T1 by two cars, i had to brake earlier because of the car in front of me, and the car behind just pushed me from the side into the other car, which caused me to flip. i lost a one, probably two laps by this because my pitstop lastest for 30-40 seconds... because i was too close to the racing line.

From my point of view during the race, i saw two cars which had problems controlling their car: #14 and #999.

from that on everything went pretty well. until during a caution, i passed the pacecar (because i was allowed to) but when i came again to the pace-car i knew, there is something wrong here...

at about lap 120 my front right tire blew up without any reason. it was black and i could not see a flat spot. anyway thats racing, so i had to pit in again. in the end i could push pretty well could fight against rawex, ketil, and some others and finishing me on 6th position which gives me a good shot at climber points.

i want to say thanks to #66 of the botP guys. i think we had some good fighting during the race, and much cleaner then last times. i also say sorry for #79 for not being qualified, but i am thinking about giving out a bonus to the winner for the "losers race" as well, which makes it a bit more bearable...

i hope to see you soon in 3!!!! weeks on Aston which will be my worst nightmare probably. but we will see if i can improve my circuit skills.

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,

Tomorrow, Monday 25th of june, we are racing the 3rd race in the LFSCAR 360degree.tk CUP Series, the Speedway 150 in the Autocross Arena.
Start of the Qualifying as usual at 18.15 UTC on the FM 360° Event° Server.

For this race we have some specialities:

1 _ NO "lucky dog", as there is no reliable way to determine who is the "lucky dog" on the autocross arena.
2 _ Qualifying will consist of a single qualifying and a sprint race
3 _ The single qualifying will be 1 outlap and 2 fastlaps. According to the fastest times you will be split up in two heats for the sprint race.
4 _ The two heats will race an 11 laps race with flying start. The top 7 of each heat and the fastest not qualified driver (sprintrace-time) will qualify for the main race.
5 _ During the two heats, there WON'T be a Caution phase. You will not be allowed to reset your car in the sprintrace, however you can shift-s and rejoin.
6 _ The main race will be a 150 Laps race with pacecar and arcade-style pitstops.
7 _ To make a pitstop during the race, use the white areas in the infield. Stop in those areas with your car and make an ARCADE RESET (Space button). Hit it until you got your car reset, remember the fuel won't be filled up. DON'T SHIFT-S as it will not count as a pistop.
8 _ IF you need to reset your car on track (not in the white boxes), you MUST go throught the pit area and do another reset in the white boxes during the next 2 laps. Any violation will result in a -10 pts. penalty.
9 _ You are allowed to pass the field and pacecar BY GOING THROUGH THE INFIELD during a CAUTION, because you don't gain a lap.
10 _ DON'T cross the white line at pit-exit and watch out for other cars.
11 _ Use the ingame chat only if it's really, really, really, really needed. there was way too much chatting in last race. i will start to give out penalties from this race on for unnecessary comments in chat. if you have to discuss something with another driver, make it before or after the race.
12 _ Pacecar-Speed will be 80km/h (pitlimiter-speed on normal tracks)
13 _ The admins will start a Caution only if a car is flipped or the racing line is blocked by 3 or more cars.

if you are not certain about any of these rules, ask me BEFORE! the qualifyng in ventrillo or chat, msn, icq or whatever. racelength and sprintrace-rules might change if there are lots of people showing up. it will be decided during the single qualifying.

one more suggestion, use the programm LFSpitboard, as it will tell you your position during the race with a one lap delay.

i hope we will have a good event tomorrow, and see a lot of you on track

cheers
Fischfix

ps: the race-results of race 2 will be available before tomorrows race

Quote from Scawen :
FIX : Dedicated host could not fill in split nodes info
FIX : Dedicated host did not report race positions

not sure what this should fix, but it did not fix, the problem, having the correct positions and splits on lfs-world race progress bars on AU1 and on BL3 it does not even show you are on BL in lfsworld. it tells you: "you are on track" and then nothing.

at least a race-position would be something good to have on the top right in the client, but this is not the right forum i know...

i recommend for the next race: LFSpitboard. it tells you on which position you are and how your laptimes are developing but with one lap delay.

so you know the data from lap 20 when you pass the start finish line on lap 21.

you don't need to install it, it is just a recommendation. actually both tools are quite helpfull anyway and worth a tryout...

sorry guys, i am actually on the autocross, and it does not work anymore. probably i've confused it with the LFSpitboard tool, which works.

lfspitboard however tells you not the position you have at the moment, but the position you have had a lap ago... wich can be a help anyway.
search for lfspitboard in the forum.

ok this is my config file. it has on top of the screen: car in front of me and gap, car behind me and gap, position, fuel load and how many laps i can go with it.

i switched everything else off i think

did you block the tool in Windows? when you first start the program, a pop-up will come asking you if you want to block this tool. you have to click no there...
Fischfix

ok james, first you start LFS and press t, then type in: insim 29999
then you switch to the folder where you have the tool, and double click the exe file. then you can switch back to lfs, it will show in the top left corner, that insim is connected and stuff like that.

thats it

in the config file, you can decide which kind of information you want to display. open it with editor or wordpad:

<Showing

SHOWLAPTIME="1"
SHOWSPLITTIME="1"

SHOWLAP="1"
SHOWPOSITION="1"
SHOWSpeed="0"
SHOWRPM="0"
SHOWGear="0"
SHOWFuel="1"

SHOWPITSPEED="1"
SHOWSHIFTLIGHT="1"

SHOWGAP="1"
/>

in these lines put a "0" instead of a "1" in the lines which you don't want to be displayed. above you can see my settings. on the bottom part, you can position the information on the screen (x, y coordinates), but i let it as it is default. if you have still problems, i will come to vent anyway... we can go through it...

Hey guys, there is a great tool which will help all of us on next races:

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=461888

as you know we are racing on the autocross layout. unfortunately lfs does not show the gaps to the cars in front or behind you anymore. it also does not show you YOUR POSITION in the race.

with this tool, you actually see those things. and not only when passing a split, but in realtime. so you see on top right of the screen, the car who is in front of you and who is behind you with the actual gap in seconds.

it also tells you the exact % of fuel you have, so you don't have to press f12. it tells you your best split, laptimes and how far you are away in the actual lap. and stuff like that.

in the config file you can turn off some of the features which you won't need, like gear indicator and stuff like that. i can upload my settings as well if you want to.

try it out. i recommend it for everyone to have in next race. i don't say, you must have it, but i recommend it. as it is a great help in a 150 laps race when you actually KNOW on which position you are and how far you are away from the next guys around you...

just try it out

great tool! this will help me and lfscar in next race alot. as we are going to have a race on autocross. and it displays the position which is not visible in lfs anymore.

it also tells the people who are they fighting against which is also kind of cool!

awsome work. can you put a readme file into the archive, just to explain all the .cfg settings.+

i have two tiny request. can you write out RCM messages again somewhere. i have the problem, that people don't see the RCM messages from race control when they have a blueflag, or yellow flag. in our league the admins trigger different rcm messages to tell the drivers if there is the Pacecar out (e.g. full course yellow, pits are open, close gaps to single file, last lap under pacecar,... stuff like that)

so my request is something like this:
just a repeat of the RCM message somewhere on the screen (top or bottom) so it can't be covered by any blue and yellow flag messages.

is this possible, this would be a REALLY great help.

i have one more request: is it possible to have some indicator telling you if you are a lap down and not in the same lap with the leaders?

you could make all those things switchable (on/off) so people who do not need this things don't have to use it. like with the other things in your great tool.

is there a way you can make it, to show the actual lap-number not the lap before with the position?

does this tool work on AU1 races as well?

i also think aero damage will add the most to the game.

at the moment you can bend and twist your wings in any kind of direction and it does not effect the car speed at all.

if this is implemented, we will have MUCH more responsible driving

@ yankman
we will have a new rule on the next kyoto oval track concerning speed and pacecar, which will make it a lot easier for the pacecar and the leader to meet each other. which will inculde the pit-limiter until the pacecar is infront of the leader. i will have to write it out, so everyone understands it. but as we don't have a pitlimiter on the autocross layout it is not important.

the correct rule would be, slowing down until pacecar speed. (not braking) just slowing down. the pacecar should come out in front of you. as far as i know, in nascar they have more then on pacecar on different parts of the track. which makes it much easier. it might be an improvement when the pacecar is not standing at pit-exit but somewhere near turn 2 on the normal oval. (not sure on that though becaue of yellow flag)

@ danny, you should write this in your race report. if it is riding the brakes as you've described it, i can review it again and it is the other cars fault then probably or the crash will be a racing accident. i watched it only from top view so far, and from that point of view it is your fault though.

not sure if this has something to do with the dedicated X and insim, but races on autocross layouts are not tracked on lfs-worlds race progress bars.

you just see how many cars are there and who is spectating, but the race-progress is not visible...

i know danny. it was really a mess. look at me for example. i should have started somewhere in the middle and ended up almoston last position at the restart. same with #68 2march.

the best solution would have been restarting the race again with qualifying results. but it needed a quick decission and to be honest i was not completely prepared for a red-flag situation, although i had a RCM for it...

as you can see in the race report, the rules are now set even for those situations.

it is like in football when the referee gives out a 3rd yellow card to a single player. he can't take back the 2nd yellow card which should have been a yellow/red one... he even can't take back the 3rd one.

  • Lap 2 | #55, #455 | #455 hits stationarry #55, result of the crash before
  • Lap 2 | #44 | #44 hits bales on the left at the chicane, slides off the track

CAUTION #1 STARTS

  • Lap 7 | #0, #11, #3 | #11 hits flipping car #0, #11 slides into #3

CAUTION #2 STARTS

  • Lap 8 | #3, #11 | #3 and #11 get contact when passing the chicane, #11 gets crashed out while trying to overtake during caution | |
  • Lap 8 | #44, #68 | #44 bumps #68 while going through the grass under caution, #68 spins out | -5pts For #44
  • Lap 9 | #0, Pacecar, #42,... | Big pile-up causing a RED-Flag situation, all cars have to stop. The cause of this pile-up lies in the responsibility of the pacecar driver. The pacecar went ON the track and did not speed up, and stayed at 40km/h. There was no input (steering, padels) from the pacecar what so ever until it got hit. I am not sure if this was a lag problem or a hardware disfunction, or a problem of the pacecar-driver himself falling asleep.

  • Normaly under a Red-Flag situation the race will be restarted from the connection screen. We decided to go on right from the track. The red-flag situation caused the tires to cool down too much, also the starting „rain“ did the rest.
  • LFSCAR won't review all crashes after lap 9 because of the happenings in lap 9.
  • After Caution #2, another Caution (Caution #3) was needed which brought race-control to the conclusion to abort the race.
  • The restart of the race when the „rain“ stopped was set up for a 110 lap race with almost the grid before the restart. Some of the drivers really had bad luck, including #18, #68, #74 because of the mess.

In future races, a red flag situations will automatically lead into a restart of the main race from connection screen. If there are less then 10 minutes of race-progress, the race will be restarted with normal racelength and the qualifying grid. If there are more then 10 minutes done before red flag, the race will be restared with the actual positions of each car when last time passing finish line and a race-length reduction by the amount of driven laps +10 of the leader. All cars will start in the lead lap again.
