Quote from Matrixi :Hauled my xbox 360 to the desk after taking this pic, otherwise still up to date.

Is that a 13" or 15" MBP?
Next to that monitor, everything looks so damn small. :S

Also lol @ GTA IV map on the wall.

I wonder, how much current can it supply? :P

What's the point of driving on real tracks in a racing simulator? :/

That's like watching *cough* a movie of a specific genre *cough* with your girlfriend who is far from 90-60-90 or watching a sports game where guys as unsporty as you hold a skiing competition

Quote from rockclan :I also got 5 big harddrives, and a G19.

When doing my calculations, I assumed as much as 8 drives.

G19 is powered by USB, therefore it can't use more than 2.5W (5V * 500 mA)

Quote from rockclan :Ok so I just did one big purchase right:
Intel i7-2600K
XFX Radeon HD 6970
AsRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional B3
16GB DDR-3 1600 RipjawX
OCZ 60GB Vertex3 SSD
iiyama ProLite E2473HDS-B1
Silent Pro Gold 800W
LG Blu-ray burner
GXT 18 Gaming Keyboard

>HD 6970
>800W powersupply

A good 450W / average 550W PSU is completely enough (550W is even a bit of overkill) for that build.

I won't even comment on a SandForce-based SSD, TN monitor and a non-mechanical keyboard.

Quote from John5200 :How is this game any realistic... cars ignoring rules.... you crash them, they just continue driving and I guess the game takes place in Köln, which has a population of about 1 million people. So the traffic density is simulating what? 11 pm???

You can adjust traffic density to as high as "Rush hour" (I guess 17:30 or so? don't use AM/PM on this forum please, it's international).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te_2Tyru-dA&hd=1 this is how traffic in CT 3/4 looks like.

Quote from John5200 :what ever... no matter if it needs to settle on your ram or your hard drive, simulating an city is kinda impossible.

Check Crash Time IV. It has very realistic traffic.
And it's map is pretty huge.

Quote from Kid222 :Most of big companies don't want to be associated with car murder simulator.

One more thing - getting over 100 cars licensed would cost a fortune, and having few licensed / a lot of unlicensed cars would be kinda.. imbalanced.

John5200.. best chess engines don't have any precalculated data..

Search for "Rybka vs Fritz" for example and have a nice look of play of two different engines, both of which don't have any precalculated data

PS: the "32GB for hash table" in your quote is amount of RAM needed, not size of installer. It can be saved to HDD, yeah, but it's not on the disk in the first place.

Quote from (SaM) :Yeah, there's only one thing faster than an SSD: a twin of SSDs in RAID mode.

Nope.
After a month or so, they'll become SLOWER than single SSD, at least for writing, due to lack of TRIM. Their lifespan will be shortened dramatically, too.

Also, there's really just one thing faster than a SSD - DRAM drive w/ battery backup (to prevent data losses).

GTA V -> Vice City
GTA VI -> San Andreas?

Quote from jibber :(old, vintage, blabla)...

Oh please. Vintage mid-range audio equipment is way better than mid-range of today (all those PC speaker sets such as Z-5500's.. they make my ears bleed, while $100 speaker pair from 90's works very nice for me).
