Oh, OK.

Thanks for the info, Breizh.

Might put in a little FR for that then.

Thanks for that LFSn00b.

I might be doing something wrong though, 'cos I can get the tyre condition boxes OK but it then shows the suspension setup (3D view) along with it, rather than the little suspension condition boxes (you know, the little 2D ones that sit in the bottom right and left hand corners of the screen).

Does anyone know, is there a way to display tyre condition and suspension condition at the same time?

Try using 2nd or 3rd gear. Too much torque in 1st - just makes the wheels spin.

Quote from Shotglass :are you sure the car was absolutely 100% undamaged ?

Hmmm ... well yes, I assumed so, but now you mention it ...

The usual situation is there's me and a grid full of other LX4's going 'round South City Sprint 1 and I notice this on the car in front sometime during the race.

So I restart, select chase view and then tab through all the cars. On the start grid all the cars are fine but as the race proceeds, I notice cars start to develop this 'problem'.

Now, to be honest, I've never kept track of any nose-to-tail shunts. So you may have a point there, Shotglass.

The thing is, if it is caused by damage, I've raced LX4's around South City Sprint since around patch U or V, and I've never noticed this before, hence the post. Others seem to have noticed this for the first time also. The other thing, is it doesn't really look like damage 'cos the plate just kinda shifts back behind the spare wheel or is partially obscured by it.

Anyway, when I get the chance I'll use fewer cars and watch more closely to see if the nose-to-tails are the cause.

I'll get back with more info shortly.

Cheers

EDIT: Won't be able to test further 'till this evening (I'm at the back of the queue for the PC at the weekends, the kids take over!) but just looking for any other related posts I can find a.t.m:

EDIT 2: Well ... er ... um ... sorry 'bout this

After further experimentation and close scrutiny this evening, it would seem that it IS caused by damage - you were right Shotglass.

I did a bit of AI bashing this evening and it's one shunt to partially obscure the plate and two shunts to knock it back behind the spare wheel!

Apologies for the false alarm folks :slap:

Hi Scawen.

Many thanks for the update .

A quick bit of feedback for you.

Just wanted to confirm that I've updated directly from X to X9 using the auto update and that I'm now experiencing the glitch that others have been describing elsewhere.

It's the one where the rear number plates on the LX4's are either partially or wholly obscured by the spare wheel. (I haven't tried the LX6's yet, so not sure if the same applies to them).

Cheers

Quote from Captain Slow :you could just save all the new updates into another lfs folder and keep the current unupdated version for you little game? lol. if you like it so much it could be worth the trouble

Yeah, could do.

Mind you, it's just a bit of fun to practice going for gaps cleanly without pushin' an' shovin'.

Not that I'll complain when the new AI arrives though - I'm really looking forward to that!
Playing swat the fly!

Hi all,

Just a little something I’ve been playing lately.

The track:
South City Sprint 1 Circuit – 5 laps

The starting grid:
5No LX4’s (AI) = The ‘Swats’
1No MRT at the back of the grid (Me! ) = The ‘Fly’

With the MRT starting at the back of the grid, the idea is to win (obviously!), however with 5 AI LX4’s starting in front of you, things become … erm … interesting!

Work your way through the pack to the finish line while avoiding the (myopic) AI cars.

For me, at my level of competence (or should that be incompetence?:nod, lap times ‘round SCS1 are roughly the same in these two cars but the MRT is quicker ‘round the corners and tighter bends, while the LX4’s are faster ‘round the sweepers and down the straights. This makes for an ‘interesting’ race.

A few tips:
  • Virtual rear view mirror is essential – you’ll need a clear view of the LX4’s coming at you from behind down the straights, because ...
  • Trying to stay on the racing line down the straights with an LX4 in tow is a no-no – get off the racing line quick, or prepare to be swatted :ouch:.
  • Needless to say, you’ll (be trying to) drive a clean race. As you can imagine, trying to muscle the big boys out of the way can also result in a severe swatting! :smash3d:
  • Agility is your best weapon:fence3d:. Use it to your advantage by nipping in between the LX4’s on the slower parts of the circuit.
  • This particular arrangement works for me, but you can obviously alter the number and ability of AI cars and the number of laps to get the balance right for you.
Not sure if this will work when Scawen gives the AI a brain and some spectacles in a future update though. They’ll probably end up a bit too careful and considerate to make this game as much fun as it is right now.

Anyway, that’s the most fun I’ve had with the AI so far!

Cheers.

Just a stab in the dark here.

Is there a way to set the G25 itself to and from 900* mode?

(You know, like with the DFP it's 'Select' + 'R3' + 'Right Paddle').

If the G25 has a similar function, is it set to 900*?

Lots of talk back in April about the progression structure for the single seaters:

http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 641&highlight=fox+mrt

Don't know if you're able to tell us yet, but have you decided on whether it's gonna be:

FOX > MRT > FO8 > BF1 or

MRT > FOX > FO8 > BF1 or

(MRT & FOX) > FO8 > BF1

I kinda hope its the FOX and the MRT at Level 1 'cos I've been whizzing 'round South City recently in the MRT and it's been great fun!

I know that the MRT isn't everyone's cup of tea (cold tyres + manhole covers = Beyblade time ) but it would be a shame to have to wait until you go bronze or silver before you can race them on the CTRA servers.

So, wos the verdict then?

Quote from AndroidXP :Your graphics card is broken. Probably fried memory banks due to overheating. Most likely the fault of notoriously undersized stock coolers and maybe insufficient airflow in the case.

Yeah.

Dust can also be a problem.

Overheating due to dust obviously takes a while to develop (i.e. over time the dust builds up around the fan and the cooling fins under the cover plate).

I started getting problems with my GeForce 6800 overheating a few weeks ago (black screens after 5-10mins running), however once I removed the cover plate and vacuumed the dust away, things went back to normal.

I'd recommend to everyone to check their cards for dust periodically.

If all seems well for the first 30mins or so Cebesius, and then the problems start, it might be worth checking.

You might be just in time before a major fry-up!

Hey Scawen

We know you've got a million and one other things to do around here, so thanks for taking the time to check this one out for us ol' game padders.

Just a quick tip K.

It might be an idea to make a program specific profile for LFS.

It looks like you're making gobal changes in your screen shot there, which might mess up the graphics on other games/applications.

Go to the next tab along to set up a program specific profile. The changes you make will then only apply to LFS.

Quote from der butz :I've voted "no".

I appreciate Kegetys' work, and he is a god's gift to the community! I just don't like the way people can behave when they have pitspotter installed.
There is no "guy on the left" or "clear"!!!
look into your mirrors, look left and right, that's the way to go! You can't get commands like "guy approaching left next corner" or "careful, guy in front is about to shut the door next corner!" There are more ways to get to know certain driver's styles and lines.

Don't take this personal, Kegetys and fellow fanboys, but I just think racecraft doesn't increase by using this tool.

greetz and sorry for the somewhat harsh words

der butz

Well, all I know is that I have far fewer accidental collisions with other people when I'm using PitSpotter than when I'm not, and this seems to be someting which they appreciate.

For me, it's not about what's real and what's not real, it's simply that it helps me to avoid spoiling other people's races.

It's about consideration for other drivers.

So, I for one would like to be able to use it.

Quote from Nick A :I just found out that NVIDIA have taken out the GPU temperature monitoring feature on the latest ForceWare drivers - useful!

ForceWare has two types of user interface. Have you checked in the 'Advanced' user interface as opposed to the basic one?

No problem.

Sorry nothing came up trumps

Oh, by the way. For future reference, if it's an Nvidia card you've got, you can monitor its temperature via the Nvidia Control Panel.

Go to:

3D Settings > Performance > Monitor temperature levels.

It logs temperature over time and produces a graph.

Hope you get it sorted soon.
