Psst, dont tell anyobody, but its actually dulux trade weathershield exterior gloss paint that i have used,thinned with some special thinning agent that a pro decorator gave me, and some sort of hardener so it goes off rock solid, as gloss usually stays slightly soft.

I once read that it wasnt possible to roller paint a car and get any kind of decent finish, does if you are painting white over white and you get the paint p!ss thin!
Granted, it will never be quite as good as a sprayed finish, but it aint too damn bad really, considering its still wet in this picture, as it dries a lot of the orange peelyness will fade out, well it did with the bonnet and boot anyway, they looked pretty much like hammered finish hammerite when they were still wet, but dried down pretty good, the white looks infinately better.

Personally, i like it, its not exactly all that solid atm tho, hinging mechanisms that i have made only have 4 bolts each side, they will be seam welded in at some point to finish the job properly.

another mod, not sure if i like it or not yet, will be easier to tell once its dried, and the tarpaulin tent kind of arrangement can be moved lol
the car is an mx-5 and the coolant was full of rust, the car blew its clutch last year and spent a good few months parked up, the radiator rotted out resulting in the under bonnet explosion.

Cheers for the heads up, ill order a head set just in case, altho this had a cracked and repaired rad for ages, plus the core was obviously rotten as a peach, just look at how brown the water was lol, i reckon the rad was partially blocked, coz before the temp guage would go up to mid way and stay there in normal driving, but altho it would move slowly up to just below a quarter, it would go from there upto mid way within about 4 seconds, you could watch it just whizz up there, but with this radiator in it steadily goes up to temp, and the heater is also baking hot now, mildly warm was the best i got before, so im praying that was the problem, ill probs change the thermostat while im there too.
Yesterday, radiator + traffic jam = boom!
the plastic part where the top hose fits to blew away from the radiator and broke off quite a section of the top plastic part too, which looked like this.
Not so good, so i rang my good friend, who does banger racing, and 15 minutes later i was at his yard scavenging through whats next to go on the track for radiators, mondeos, no good, i needed top hose left bottom hose right but they are top hose right bottom hose left so thats those out of the question, granada ones looked to be an all out bastard to remove and were a bit narrow really, so that only left one option, a rover coupe, so i asked him, does it have the k series engine, or the decent honda one, reply was honda, a fellow jap lump, pipework was the right way round, oh but wait, this is a sealed radiator as such, with no filler cap on top of it like the 5 has, so he said, well just take the rover header tank with you and plumb that into it as well , so thats exactly what i did!
Temporarily repaired, does it look sh!t, yes, is it a bodge, yes, is everything held in with cable ties, yes, is it the only mk1 mx5 to now have 2 header tanks, yes, but, most importantly, does it leak, no, which is all that matters!
So hopefully the correct radiator will arrive early next week, although the first job once i remove the rover one will be to pressure wash the engine bay to get rid of the total rusty mess that has been caused by it going pop, it looks totally disgusting!

I saw a plymouth prowler when driving about edgeware london yesterday, strange looking thing, but also well cool!
well, if your able to tumble around in a 5 or 6 point then them belts arent pulled tight enough, as there should be as little movement as possible, when i used to race i used to pull my belts down as tight as i could while strapped in, and a mate used to pull them even tighter just to be sure, although i am talking about in banger racing, other forms of racing and/or road use may be different, but for me, as seatbelts go, tight is right. 
Got bored with red and black wheels, so decided to grab a few rattle cans and see what i could come up with, actually hasnt come out too bad really.

Do you notice any scuttle shake with your mk1 doyal, as mine shudders like a total bastard on certian roads, lowering mine has appeared to have made the shake a little bit worse, but the improved handling by far outweighs the annoyance of that, plus lots more clonks and rattles when encountering bumps, although the added cabin noise in mine may be due to the fact that it has no carpets or sound deadening.
Hang on, the legal limit in the UK is 0.08, and little over 1 pint of lager can put you near enough upto that limit, so my my (possibly flawed) logic suggests that you could have a BAC level of around 0.19 after only 2 maybe 3 drinks.
Motor insurance question, driving other cars...
I have googled this, as well as reading my own policy, but im getting conflicting info from t'internet and my policy doesnt really make it all that clear, so imma ask here, as im sure i read that a couple of members here are in the insurance profession, i think, so, here goes...
My insurance FAQ section says that,
"Driving other cars – What is covered.
If your certificate of motor insurance says so, we will insure you to drive any
private motor car that you do not own, is not registered to you and you have
not hired under a hire-purchase or leasing agreement"
And my policy itself reads as follows...
So, it would seem clear, i can drive it, but it doesnt mention the very thing that i need to know, which is, does the other vehicle in question have to have an insurance policy of its own already on it for my any driver insurance cover to be valid, as although the car is fully road worthy as in taxed and MOT'd, my mate, who's car it is, has only recently got it, well i bought her it, but thats irrelevant as its her car, but she hasnt got her cover switched from her old and now deaded car to this one as yet.
So by reading my policy, she is obv covered to drive my car, as she is a named driver, and i am *possibly* covered to drive hers using my own policies cover as its not owned by me or a relative, but i do not know for sure, and i really do not wish to be driving around all illegal, which i potentially could be.

I've always sworn by Marangoni Zeta tyres in the past, my lil '5 used to grip like hell with them on the back, and they were a lot better than the t1r's i had after that when i changed the rims for something a bit different, although the toyos were fairly worn so thats probably why, cant seem to find zeta's anymore though, although almost anything would be better than the eagle NCT 5 monstrosities that i have on the rear at the moment, they are manageable in the dry, but add a bit of the wet stuff, total rubbish.

Well, what a weekend it was regarding baggsys motor eh, some dont believe it but this spread over the web so quickly, and for anyone else who followed the DW thread in real time would have seen that there were cars out all over the place scouting for the car, and other motors pysically sat at intersections watching and waiting and ready to follow if needed, the M25 was covered, as were bits of the M4, and the M20, A2, incase it was heading to euroland etc, plus people on standby depending where it might head, it was quite amazing how everyone pulled together in order to find it, thank god for the internet eh!
The whereabouts (roughly) of the car were known by a few people as early as sunday mid afternoon, which was roughly when it was moved from wolfe lane to where it was found in holyport, but after me and a couple of others who managed to by some luck get the info passed it to mods etc, on driftworks, the police had already informed them a few minutes before we did lol, and it was agreed that such info wasnt going to be posted publicly in case the very people who took it were reading up about the following their little joyride was getting, plus some of us know people who have radios which can go on certian frequencies that they really shouldnt, hence how we knew, naughty naught very naughty, quite probably, but it was for a good cause!

the video was recorded at approx 7:45pm last night, so not so long after it was taken from SP, lets just hope that it didnt somehow make the hop over the water into europe overnight. 
It was being driven about tho, for however briefly as it was seen, but we all fear the same, will be stripped for parts
