Quote from speed1230 :GT1 did iirc, not so sure about GT2 though

GT1 only had 100+ cars so having rarity in 2nd hand cars wouldn't have worked

Quote from Furiously-Fast :Been playing and enjoying it. Loads. Here are some pics I took. Staring off with my first car (toyota Vitz):

I recently bought a Toyota Pick-up and S15. Both of which I haven't used. Man this game is addictive....

Your pics look too dark - increase your EV and calibrate your monitor

RUF Yellow Bird drift run - this car is handful in GT4. Wonder how it feels in GT5...
Definitely a left foot braking car.

I don't think GT1 and 2 had 2nd hand cars, but I could be wrong, it's been a while

Quote from spyshagg :hold the phone

The 800 standard cars only appear randomly in Used car dealership, as in PSP GT ?

B***S***

Like in GT4 as well, nothing wrong with this IMO. You don't find people selling their cars anytime your ready to buy it in the real world, especially the rare ones

GT4 used cars followed a repeating cycle. A very long cycle that is.

You can buy new cars anytime you want though

Quote :Currently the online services of Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) is experiencing some extreme online traffic congestion.

Because GT5 performs online access not only when participating in online races and using community features, but also when starting the game and during the various screen displays in GT Mode, unfortunately this online congestion is also affecting standard gameplay.

If you are experiencing the following symptoms, we recommend that you temporarily play GT5 without connecting the PlayStation 3 (PS3) to the network.

(A) If you are finding it takes several minutes before being able to perform any actions in the following screens:

- Before the start of the opening movie, immediately after launching the game
- At the top screen after the game has started
- In various screens within GT Mode

(B) Or, when it takes several minutes or more to gain a result when the following operations are performed:

- When entering the open lobby, if it takes several minutes or more before the room list is acquired and displayed.
- When clicking on an ID in the participant list of a room, if it takes several minutes or more before the menu appears.
- When writing on the message boards within "Community", if it is taking several minutes or more for your posts to appear.

* Also, some of the following features have been limited intentionally as a measure to temporarily alleviate some of the network traffic. Due to these limitations, you will find that:
- The viewing and update of the [Log] in the Community section of GT Mode has been temporarily disabled.
- Changes to the Profile may not update in some cases.
- Changes to the Friend List may not update in some cases.

Currently we are simultaneously working on several different solutions to improve the network status and alleviate the network congestion as soon as possible. We are expecting to be able to provide a proper online service again soon.

We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.

Reference Information
Temporary measures you can take for playing Offline

The following are procedures for preventing the PS3 from accessing the network when playing GT5.
Please note the steps introduced here are only temporary procedures you can take until the network conditions are improved.

(1) If GT5 is currently running, please quit the game.

(2) Go to [Settings] -> [Network Connections] -> [Internet Connection] and switch the selection to [Disabled]

(3) Start GT5.

Quote from jibber :Tried three different cars so far. S2000, RX-7 and Lancia Delta. If i remember correctly, the RX-7 and Lancia had less options than the S2000 (about two or three wheels less). None had more than about 10 different wheels to choose from.

Enkei, Volk, Advan, Prodrive... (maybe two models each), that's all i've seen in this game so far. Most of those wheels aren't very pretty either (3d models).

As funny as it is, but this is the biggest disappointment i have with the game so far (and that there's not enough interesting premium cars).

Yeah it's pretty strange, although I dont have the game yet, but it seems PD were forced to get the game out before everything was completed to their "standards" or liking.
So now we get to play it while they patch it to where they wanted it....

I don't mind, I missed the Time Trial feelings, and that was just 1 car and track

Quote from jibber :I'm a little disappointed with the aftermarket wheel options. So there's like 10 wheels in this game, that's it?

I believe there is a different set for every car

Seems like the HD you have in your PS3 makes a difference after all, even though reports say it doesn't...

Quote from DraGoN-BoY :Woot! The WD Scorpio drive paid off, started off at 30mins to install and in the first couple minutes dropped to 15mins. Should be done in 10mins

Hmm maybe I should get a 7200rpm drive before I install GT5....
Used about 50% of my 120GB factory drive right now. It's usually fairly quick installing 1+ GB demos off the PSN in any case. 1-2 mins or so, and that's reading off the drive and installing back onto it.

6-8GB should not take that long reading off a BD in theory. We'll see

Impressions from Nogrip forum - most people seems to be happy with the physics

Quote : OK so to get the control pad working whilst using a wheel you actually have to start the PS3 without the USB from the wheel plugged in. That way your pad is the No.1 controller instead of the wheel.

Quote:
Not anymore, everything works on G27, paddles - clutch without tri.
Yes, found that the clutch works if you have the H box enabled but not if you are using seq/paddles. Sound.

After setting my PS3 to the highest quality settings and also finding a "sharpen" option in the game settings....I must say the graphics are very, very nice indeed. Beautiful infact. The anti aliasing is much, much better now.

Also managed to turn off the race music after missing the options for it several times.

Can't find a setting to turn off the ghost car though???

Anyway done quite a few laps with my G25 now. Bought my car, an '89 Eunos Roadster and did it up to the same spec. Sport exhaust, racing air filter, de-cat, sports springs. Set the steering to simulation, power assistance off, lowered the strength to 3 after a quick test. Turned all driving aids off including ABS. Went to Deep Forest and

Basically I am astounded at how good the physics are. The car behaves like I know it should do. When you catch a slide it feels spot on. When you oversteer out of a second gear corner it does exactly what my car does and feels incredibly accurate through the steering wheel. The FFB is just fantastic really. No deadzone at all. The tyre model feels exceptional as well.

It's every bit as good as I was hoping it would be and no matter what anybody says this "game" is now finally a racing simulation.

I still think it is totally unacceptable that you're unable to turn off the HUD but I am hoping this will be fixed soon in a patch...........

Maybe more options and features are unlocked as you progress thorugh the game? Like damage maybe? Could not put a scratch on any of the cars I tried in arcade mode....

Quote :The game is stunning. The physics are bang on as are the graphics.

Im loving the Karting, they feel spot on.

Looks like i might need to pull a sicky(being self employed its easy, but costs more!!)

It was definately worth the wait!

Quote from danowat :Hopefully it will return along with the time trial leaderboards.

Just read this

Quote :With GT5 finally releasing today, Yamauchi-san also responded to criticism of the online feature set, revealing to Eurogamer, "Online updates are planned of course for leaderboards and matchmaking – [they're] all planned in the process of evolution."

During a stage presentation earlier in the evening, Yamauchi pledged that his team would be "upgrading every week, every month" to improve the game, which took five years to develop.

Yamauchi described the game as a "pet" that his team had "nourished and looked after," paying special tribute to fans, "all of whom have helped and supported us to develop Gran Turismo."

Beneath a video screen slogan which read: "Today is not the finale. Today is only the beginning of a new era for Gran Turismo," the series creator insisted that his team's work on the project was far from complete.

Quote from kars19 : standart F1 with some aftermarket wing at the back :thumbsdow "Gordon Murray would probably not approve of that vehicle's aero-balance."(c)Peloton25

they also got standart F1(premium) and 97 spec longtail GTR (standart)

they needed to put 95 spec short tale GTR #01R (actual 1995 Le Mans winner) as stealth car

Well it still looks a lot better than the pics I've seen before.

I also have a Stealth NSX GT500 and a Mazda 787B with my preorder
I wouldn't mind the Stealth SLS as well

Wonder if the raw carbon fiber look is available in the game for other cars....

Quote from JJ72 :liking online so far, I think the big plus is you can pit/spectate whenever you like, very much like LFS.

Seems like they got rid of the Performance points rating system from Prologue

I hope they add it back so you can set set power limits for races.
And add other limits like drive train type etc

My Ferrari captures from Prologue, which doesn't have physics like GT5 off course, but graphics should look about the same minus some new stuff

I'm sure most us buy driving games for how the cars feel, otherwise they don't last long. Here is another write up praising the physics

Although why should the AI get out of your way??
Quote :I think it is not so difficult to come to a conclusion with this game:

The problem here are the limitations of the PS3. If it would be possible to show the game in all its glory on a PC, we would see what PD really has worked on all the years. They had to make a lot of very painful design decisions to reach their 60fps goal. The same game on the PS4 and it would get a 10/10 from every gaming magazine.

It is also true that the AI is unbelievably stupid. They are fast on the straights and idiotic in the corners. They will never go out of your way and behave like go carts. But still, the career mode is extremely enjoyable. If never played a better career mode in any other racing game.

And the physics: Maybe I'm crazy, but I have played Life for Speed for a very long time and I also played Iracing (test month) and in my opinion, GT5 is better. What is so convincing about this game is the FF. It is so much better than in GT5P (I have a G27 by the way) and it does feel even better than in Iracing, where the wheel is sometimes a bit loose.

Do the others here feel the same way? I think it is time, that Sony is releasing the PS4 already!

Well I won't be using them in the career mode.... it's cheating

Quote from Greboth :Yeah thats the ones, quick google turns up they are pre order bonuses so no biggy really.

Just got to decide whether gt5 is enough for me to go and buy a ps3 too lol.

You get all 6 Stealth cars in EU Signature Edition.
On the CE as preorder bonus, but it varies for each retailer. EB games here is doing all 6 cars for the standard GT5 if you preorder, but their price is quite high!

All CE and SE get the Chromeline car pack

Quote from Gills4life :Nah I've had 2 G25s previously and both became defective after about 6 months use and tech support was absolutely shite. My Fanatec wheel has been brilliant. Way superior in my opinion, just annoying that I have to get a new dongle for GT5 because I have one of the earlier models of the 911 Turbo. Still working fine though, I've had it for about 2 years now, the leather is starting to wear off I've used it so much!

Nice to hear. I'm considering getting a Fanatec GT3RS V2 with the Club Sport pedals. I love all the extra features it has vs Logitechs, but it doesn't look like it has enough buttons, and the cost....
