Quote from Matrixi :They force you to tie your Steam account to your AC forum account now because of "piracy".

Which is a pretty shitty solution privacy wise, so I'm downloading mods from Race Department now instead.

good for you

Quote from Hyperactive :How do you define good enough? Countless championships in sim racing have been won with far inferior wheels than dfgt. For sim racing if you want sheer speed basically every wheel you can buy nowadays is good enough. But for realism you probably "need" a servomotor wheel like simsteering or accuforce wheels.

with good enough, I mean a steering wheel where I can feel the car enough, that the tires don't feel a solid piece of concrete.

actually nobody is doing it wrong. everyone stayed within the cost cap and chose car/cars they wanted for that money

Quote from Scawen :The thing is that I really need to support those "flag lights" that are positioned around some of the race tracks, the ones which have blue, yellow, green, red flags (I guess, without looking) for race control - because they may be more visible than a flag.

They are just sitting there at the moment but obviously should be animated. If the code is implemented to make them work well, looking like lights that can be switched on or off (in a more general way than the existing start lights, which could also be improved in the process) then it seems quite a simple leap to implement some traffic light logic, for a crossroads etc. (if we were in the process of updating South City).

I approve of this, would help cruise and racers both a lot

Quote from vrajunar :Ok, agree with you, but when i tried it at my cousin house with s2 and gt force, i really enjoyed it, and with an uf1000 you can drive slowly and clean.

I know it's a lot of fun, I have cruised too. But in the end their priorities are (AFAIK) still mainly a racing simulator. So I wouldn't expect them to go so specific as traffic lights. Updated south city would help the racing community also and would give a huge boost to the cruising section as well, so I expect them to do that earlier than cruiser specific things. They still adore both communities.

Quote from vrajunar :Why not, in multiplayer, or maybe working on AI (but AI is stupid )

Because lfs is mostly a racing simulator with the possibility for other creative way of entertainment. Not a cruise simulator. That's why you will never sell any licences to drivings schools of any kind

Unbelievable powerful to see the procession drive underneath bridges full of people. Cars on the other direction high speed lane slowing down and even stopping. Just unique to see.

Quote from vrajunar :But, lfs can be a racing simulator with a Single City which can be also used for cruise/driving school.
Lfs cars have already lights, arrows, so they need just a new version of south city.

What About License SC, a license which gives only street legal cars and South City track, for driving schools.

There is a reason why they have their own software. LFS will never simulate cars and traffic situations, which they need. "just a new version of south city" doesn't work.

Quote from vrajunar :Why not?
imagine a version of South City without barriers, and working trafic lights.
It can be used also as sim in Driving schools, with the right Hardware.

The only big problem for a lot of people is the Right-Driving roads

P.s

About South City, we know that will be made a big city with open config.

as said, it's already possible with insims. In driving schools they already have their own software and hardware. There are enough driving simulators out there.

Quote from Victor :It has been deleted because comments like that one are detriment to LFS. Yes, LFS is primarily a racing simulator, but the beauty is that you can also use it for other purposes. The physics have been made so that they work all-round. Why would we want people not use LFS in other ways, especially if those people are not in anyone's way?
Your comment excludes those people, makes them not feel welcome -> brings negativity -> annoys people -> makes people not want to come back. So while you may think you are helping, you are actually doing the opposite.

and it should stay primarily a racing simulator. You already gave everyone the tools to do whatever they want with insims. If you ar enot allowed to state a fact on a suggestion, what is the point of this whole forum?

Scawen, why remove my comment, it was a normal comment saying that this is a racing sim not a cruise sim. Is it not true, that you deleted it or is it something else that makes you delete it?

Quote from Kristi :So instead of trying to mathematically solve things you have no sight on, how about getting to race or may even get a proper wheel to transmit the FFB from iRacing? The tires feel pretty neat finally and they aren't just lego blocks under your car that have some grip.

I am not trying to solve things here. I'm just interested in how and why.

Is a DFGT really not good enough for iracing? I have no problems in any other simulator.

IF I have my GPU back before my iracing runs out, I'll give the new tire model a shot. Didn't have the chance yet. Otherwise I have other ways to test it :P

I am very OK with this. Do have a question though.

How static are those points. I mean is it possible that if you like lock your brakes into the pits and go 3 kph too fast into the pits and get a dt, that you say that it's such a small infringement it's not 1 point worthy. Or is is strictly DT is 1 point, however you get it. Just like the other way around, if you pit maneuver someone, can you lets say give him 9 points?

Fair enough. Does bring back the question to me why it feels like your tires are so solid, or as JR said "glass tires". Is it really all because of the FFB? Or is there something else?

If you can prove me they do simulate it, please prove me wrong. But every direction I ask and search, there it either says it doesn't simulate it or there is nothing about it that it does.

Quote from e.M :yeah and in addition to white/red barriers also could be added object like curbs and grass so basically we could create new tracks in autocross that would be nice (not like this would ever happen )

+1 to this a million times.
