Quote from sidi :Has anyone got a server up for this as i could do with practicing against real ppl.

At the moment, we don't have any server specified towards this combo. Combo options and so on should be adjustable ingame in the "F1RST Racing" server though, might drop a visit there if you want

As a reminder, i'll send out the passwords tomorrow, so check your inbox then ; )

Woch, thanks for all the positive response!

Just to add, all the pm's will be sent 24 hours before the event here, so check out your inbox by then
I will send this to both unsure racers as well as the already confirmed ones. The confirmed drivers will of course have prior over the "unsure list" drivers, if the server gets filled up before the start : )

Cya on the 22nd guys!

Better get it working tomorrow then

As Primoz said, 13 high/14 low are all decent times. The reason why we've put these "restrictions" into the event, is quite much for your own fun. Driving here and being 3 seconds off pace is quite boring (which none within this thread is btw), and not very motivating all in all

You're more than welcome : )

As i said, this event is purely based on fun

Just some quick opinions about this from my point og view.

I was lucky enough to be handed out an invite for the international etm, but kinda had the feeling that i think most UK guys have now.. We were told that we would have official skins, numberplates, everything was gonna be planned and executed in time etc etc. All this appeared on the website in the last
minute, and i think the whole bunch of racers who was going to participate in this was quite unsure abut the whole series. It looked quite unprepared, and the general feeling within the F1RST team was that this was indeed rushed up...

Luckily, all drivers has so far shown really nice dedication and motivation towards etm, and i can tell you that i really enjoy being a part of this now. Live streams are good (tho, stop eating jo :razz, information has become good, races are great, nice reports on the website, admins are doing a great job overall, providing support whenever you need it.

I'm driving in etm purely for fun, and i did honestly not know much about those prizes before i opened this thread today

All i can say is that this league is indeed wip atm, but it has only changed to the better so far. It's definately a league i will spend time on, also in the future

Some may have noticed this already, but i'll post it here anyway

Within the latest month F1rst Racing has signed two new drivers;
http://www.1stracing.nl/v2/images/news/d1joins.png
After leaving F1RST in the spring of 2007 due to other commitments, "Bas Bouma" (Lfsworld: Darkone55) found the time and the commitment to be active again. We are happy to see Bas return as our 'open wheel wonder boy', and he's a great addition to our already diverse team.

http://www.1stracing.nl/v2/images/news/maddin.jpg
The second driver joined us within the last week, who's name is Martin Brunzel. He's been a multiple wr holder in LFS world ever since the physics update, under the username "Maddin15".
The 16 year old driver has shown great attitude and motivation during the latest period of time, and we're definately proud of having him onboard.

You'll recognize them as 1ST » B.Bouma and 1ST » M.Brunzel on public servers : )

On behalf of the whole team, Welcome!

Allright, i was mainly thinking about the green areas as curbs as well.
Looked like a way for the admins to "take" any advantage from the FZR at first, but it's ok now (as the green part ain't counted as curbs). I've got the rules clarified and i'm gonna do the best out of it

Before any final decision falls, i really wanna tell about how i feel about this whole case.

When we started the preparations for this moe season, there were lots of things to test out. An important thing for us at f1rst racing was, among many other things, the durability of the suspension, especially for this race. Some of us has been hotlapping a bit, where we got used to the hlvc restrictions. These also felt very natural, at least for me, except that last turn.

Point is, that whenever you are sitting in a race car it's the fastest way around the track which counts. It's just the nature of racing, and some tracks even "invites" you to cut. There is so many tracks out there which has places with opportunities to cut and earn time on it, and it still is the natural way of driving the track.

I'll give you an example:
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/6520/curb2om6.jpg

The pic above is from an international race in Italy. The curb here is really not made for driving over it, and definately not good for the frame of the kart, but who cares? It's the fastest way of driving around there!

Same track, taken from this year:
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/6461/curb3zy6.jpg

This chickane is where fzr has it's advantage over the xrr, cause the XR simply can't drive over there without getting damage. On the otehr side, the cornering speeds of the XRR is slightly higher over the whole track than the fzr because of the new weight penalties, where the XR has it's advantage.
Why take the chance from FZR away, when even the devs made this corner hlvc valid with driving over the speed bumps?

I've been practising with several FZR teams, cyber, n!, cp, zwr, and all of them has been practising with hlvc valid cutting, because it was allowed initially by the game and the devs itself!

The disadvantage with the XRR here is something the current drivers of it should have thought about before choosing their car. It's at least definately something we FZR drivers took into account.

Also, remember that it is a risk to take to drive over there, but that's also the only way we actually could give the xrr's any competition.

Just to be really sure what's allowed and what's not:
This is a quite usual line for the fzr, and if you check the black rubber marks, it looks like quite natural for the track as well.

The attached pic is completely hlvc valid, but i just reckon someone saying two wheels on the track was the counting rule.

hehe, good suggestions
When i was talking about a layout, i mainly thought about some small cones. Sparkydave explained it quite perfectly, if you hit a cone, then it's cutting. Though, the width of the track there ain't big when you take into account that you are entering the corner at 200 km/h +, i can't imagine any race there without much cutting anyway (if we don't have any restrictions for it).

Then, why not drive the laps hlvc valid (except the last chickane). Many tracks around the world kinda invites you to only drive over the curb, and not have any wheels on the actual tarmac at all. Those bumps will for sure bring you some damage anyway, as they are really bugged. You can drive over them at 20 km/h and still get 20 - 70% damage on the suspension. Thats a risk to take for all of us, and i guess most won't try, as this is a long race

agreed with csimpok, a layout would make this much easier. We'll have these discussions lasting forever..

Quote from Vykos69 :The most important reason for multiple class racing IRL is money. As a faster car is usually more expensive to bring to racing and to drive it competitive. As we dont have the need for money for faster cars, this most important reason is gone. So everyone want to race for the overall win, so why dont you let them? And want to force several guys into GT2 cars? Well anyway, was just wondering, why you make such a fuss about it. Seems like only a minority wants GT2...

Quote from Vykos69 :
Some questions I have here:
1. If there is prizemoney involved, would you pay a little fee for a season?
2. What type of racing would you prefer? Sprints of 30 mins, longer races? open wheel or GT racing? Or both?
3. What prizey would be needed to get you "hot" to definitely taking part in this?
4. What else could you think of?

1. I wouldn't mind paying a little fee at all. As long as the league is seriously organized.

2. Allthough i didn't drive in the first ESCC season, i really think the "5 laps sprint race" and "30 laps feature race" sounds cool. They both gives different types of racing, as the sprint race naturally will be more intense, you'll loose more on mistakes etc. Too long races are boring afterwards if it's too much of it, but still needed as a part of each race imo.
As for the cars, i'd like to keep it to one class, but it's no huge deal. No rl league involves many different car types today, but it could of course, make the whole league more interesting and pay out to the best overall driver.

3. Prize money ain't that important, but rather that the league collects many and good drivers from all levels. The old days with 80 drivers competing seems difficult to reach now though... Maybeh some prizes could highen the amount of drivers anyway
For those prizes, we should maybe have a different system from what it is today? Prizes for the best teams, runner ups etc, as it seems that people who is around midfield, loose their motivation through a long season

Quote from Bawbag :I voted for 1 class racing, simply for the same reasons as Nils, it's putting something else into the mix that could go wrong for your team. (caused by yourself or someone else) I have done the multiclass racing from the FW GTR cars and the bigger GTR's and I can't say the success rate of finishing a race without stupid accidents were any better than the other.

In the 24 hour race I was overtaking 2 FWD GTR's and it seemed pretty simple at the time, they both left me enough room to overtake, but when I came to overtake the second one he must only have been taking an extremely wide line to get a better exit from the corner, which is fine, but from my angle it didn't look that way, anyway, caused an accident and we both lost a good amount of time. I can admit it was probarly my fault for not waiting behind for the age it takes them to get through a few corners, but if you are given a gap that appears to be for your car to go through you will allways take it.

I just think it wont be for the benefit of the series, there will be so many unhappy teams at being knocked off by a car in the other class, it will affect the overall results and luck will play a huge part in each race.

I wouldn't mind the slowed down GTR's to be honest as I think Appie pointed out they will only be slower on the straights, so being behind a GT2 car on a corner will lose you far less time than the FWD GTR.

I couldn't agree more. The restricted GTR's can at least allmost keep up at the corners, which will probably give much tighter racing in both classes (the big gtr's ain't the only car loosing time when overtaking a mGTR).

Also, i don't see any huge problem in seeing the restricted gtr's from a GTR car. This is something you just notice when you a aproach a GT2, as it's quite much slower on the straights. I usually keep an eye on the map from time to time ("learnt" this from LFS GT) as well, where you quite easily see which type of car you are catching, before you can visually see it.

Put a different colour on the sunstrip or the wing, and it should be ok for the spectators?

I don't think i was the only one getting tired of those FWD GTR cars during the last LFS GT seasons
